  1. True. Eventually, either Kelly will do something to piss off Trump and force his removal, or he'll just plain give up trying to control him and quit. From The Root: 5 Reasons I Hope Donald Trump Doesn't Get Impeached
  2. If she DID vote for Trump, I wouldn't be a bit surprised. Frankly, I think Taylor tried WAY too hard with her new song. She went out for edgy this time, but all she brought back was sadness and desperation.
  3. If that's true...well...you can't say Kelly isn't trying to turn things around.
  4. The New Yorker's Margaret Talbot said it best: "Choosing to pardon [Arpaio] is a gift to the white nationalists." When you look at the former sheriff's record, you can't HELP but see as much. Yet, people will INSIST that Trump is not a racist. There's only one reason for re-instituting the ban against transgendered persons serving in our military, and it's that Obama was the one who reversed the ban in the first place. Otherwise, what's the purpose in banning any able-bodied individual from protecting and defending our country when the data has shown that transgendered soldiers would have a "minimal impact" on the military's overall safety, financial resources and morale? Aside from appeasing the most small-minded social conservatives out there, it just makes no sense. Apparently, he believed TrumpCo. wasn't as jazzed as he was about killing Muslims. But seriously, how crazy is it that a Jewish man (Miller), a British-born Hungarian (Gorka), and a third man with Irish Catholic roots (Bannon) are putting pressure on Trump to put "America First"?
  5. I'm with the folks in the thread who don't want anymore stories like these. Who CARES what these people think? They just wanted a white man for president. Also, whenever the press DOES interview them, they repeat the same, old bromides about Trump, about the GOP, about Congress, about Democrats, about the "East Coast elites," and about the "left-wing" and "right-wing" media. They never offer anything new to the conversation. From the article: She’s unsuccessfully run for public office three times [...] and until recently was a life coach living with her mother in Milwaukee. She’s since moved to Austin to make a fresh start and works in fast food. Translation: Bryn Biemeck sucked at being a "life coach" (IF that's what she was -- and honestly, who could trust a life coach who was still living at home with their mother?); she couldn't even get elected dog catcher if she'd tried; and she's so insufferable as a human being that even her own mother basically told her to GTFO. Today, she lives in the heart of Trump Country, and works at a low-paying fast food gig that she'll insist ten years from now is just a stepping stone toward something better. Translation: A n****r came up with this program to help other POC, so it has to go.
  6. IA; and BECAUSE she died so soon, the specialness of Greg and Jenny's relationship wasn't spoiled by the kind of romantic merry-go-round that Cliff and Nina were on throughout much of the '80's.
  7. Same. What IS he supposed to do? Round up a posse? Maybe cook up some two-man operation with Biden to take back the WH? This isn't "I Spy," and Obama and Biden sure as hell ain't Bill Cosby and Robert Culp.
  8. More about the Trumpening of the WH: https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2017/aug/24/trumps-3m-white-house-redesign-is-as-drab-as-a-downmarket-hotel From the article: The yellow candy-stripe wallpaper of the Obama Oval Office has been stripped out and replaced with a creamy grey damask affair, picked out by President Trump himself, as his aides were eager to emphasise. “The Obama wallpaper was very damaged. There were a lot of stains on it,” they added, as if to suggest the previous occupants were a bunch of uncouth ne’er-do-wells who went around spraying their fluids against the walls. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed the implications of that remark. Trump's aides made it sound as if the Obamas were like these folks:
  9. To think: I felt bad for not voting. But voting for Donald Trump out of spite? Because, as marceline would say, they didn't get their free tuition and legal weed? That's so...basic. God don't like ugly, Stace!
  10. Trump Steps Up Feud with McConnell, Ryan I feel like this will end with someone getting smacked across the face with a metal folding chair. He also came for James Clapper. (And, of course, the media -- or, as he lovingly calls them, 'fake news.' Because, what would any day be without Trump flogging THAT dead horse?)
  11. The WH's New Look (in Pictures)... ...and Trump (allegedly) chose the wallpaper himself. (I say "allegedly," b/c you KNOW that s.o.b. really wanted all the walls to be gold-leafed.) More photos According to the second article, because Trump is "personally" designing a new area rug for the Oval Office, the office's decor might change AGAIN. (Can you say "government waste"?)
  12. I can't wait for the resignation letter(s) that spell Y-O-M-O-M-M-A.
  13. And those are just the ones who participated in the poll. Can you imagine how many MORE might be out there?
  14. I'm honestly starting to wonder whether Donald Trump ran for president, because he and his family needed the cash.
  15. All I can say is, it's tough to say the media misrepresented you or took your words out of context when the very words are there, black and white and clear as [!@#$%^&*] crystal. Frankly, listening to him make the same old promises and lash out at the same old targets is becoming the very definition of tedium.
  16. At first glance, I thought, "Are McConnell and the other guy holding hands?"
  17. Anyone who recommends getting a massage in the same breath as saying you or I are "out of touch" loses all credibility. Good read. The thing that always gets me is this attitude (mostly from conservatives) that low-wage jobs are just stepping stones to "actual careers." You're supposed to strive to do better, they say. A tone, reflected by those who asked the two women in that article why they didn't just go back to school and earn the degrees that will net them better paying gigs. (Which is ironic, since those on the right have adopted their anti-higher education stance.) However, as Fran Marion says, those who don't understand why low-wage workers don't just look for better paying jobs are missing the point. Out of those who work part-time and low-paying jobs, many would probably LOVE to do better, to have more financial stability for themselves and their loved ones. However, the sad reality is that the majority simply don't have any options other than to keep working in fast food, retail, and other low-paying industries. Even community colleges cost money to attend -- and that's on top of ever-increasing prices for food, rent, utilities, gas, etc. As it is, these people are barely scraping by, and now you want them to take out even more of their dwindling income to attend college? And trust me, having a degree is no guarantee that you will, indeed, land a better job in the end. Take it from someone who has a masters' degree and who hasn't been employed even part-time since 2007.
  18. Ryan Won't Censure Trump As if anyone thought he would, right?
  19. At this rate, with no timetables and no idea of the maximum number of troops we are re-deploying, I'd say we're about to make a mess even messier. Frankly, no matter when we finally pull out of Afghanistan, I have a feeling the area will fall to the opposition much like Vietnam did when we finally had to admit to ourselves we couldn't win the war. WaPo: Trump Announces "Modest Increase" in Troops in Afghanistan
  20. I don't believe it took Trump many meetings over many months to devise his "strategy." IMO, what he intends to do sounds a lot like what Bush, Obama, and yes, even Crooked Hillary did or would do. Regardless, it's a total reverse on what he promised to do throughout his campaign. If Trump Nation were smart (HA!), they would nail him for going back on his word. So, increased troops -- although, how many more, is anyone's guess -- and no timetables. Moreover, we're not in the nation-building business anymore. We're done training the Afghans how to fight Al Queda (sp?), ISIS and the Taliban. Instead, we're getting back in there (after Obama had managed to roll back the levels of deployment by the time he had left office) and we're gonna...keep killing terrorists, I guess? And the only way we'll know if and when we're successful is if things look good on the ground...which could be next year, or twenty years from now. Oh, and we're gonna make Pakistan and India pull their weight. ("But be nice," as Dalton from "Road House" would say.) I'm sure that really comforts a nation with a generation of teens who has never known a time when there was no War Against Terror. But, Trump feels our pain, so, of course, Trump Nation is behind him all the way.
  21. ^ Exactly, NBA, lol. I feel for those Secret Service agents. They have the toughest of jobs, risking their lives in order to keep our elected leaders and their loved ones safe; and THIS is the thanks they get: they're out of money, and they work for the shittiest boss ever. I almost want to take up a collection to help out these guys. Perhaps we could start a telethon or a rummage sale or something? Of course, you KNOW that all Trump will do is hire his own, personal security, thus bringing us all one step closer toward totalitarianism.
  22. If this keeps up, I wouldn't be surprised if The Trump Organization (or whoever they sell the building to) ended up changing the name of Trump Tower. That name's going to have a taint on it no matter WHAT happens next.
  23. Secret Service can't pay agents to protect Trump and family Am I the only one who finds the timing of this news a little...suspicious?
  24. If not for Charlottesville, I think he WOULD have pulled out. However, he's got to come up with something to distract everyone from that (and, of course, from Russia). So, let the wild rumpus start! Meanwhile, I'm not all that concerned about the solar eclipse. Now, if the sky STAYS dark, then I'll know real life's answer to Montgomery Burns will be the end of us all. He was sundowning. Never ask tough questions like that to someone who is sundowning.
  25. Exactly. It's the oldest trick in the presidential playbook, and a surefire way to guarantee another term of office. It's going to be a long, long, VERY long seven-and-a-half years.
