Right. That was the central source of conflict between Clint and Asa (and between Asa and Bo). Linda Gottlieb and Michael Malone made a serious error in making Clint so homophobic during that storyline. I feel like that, plus CR's offscreen troubles that kept him away from the show for awhile, really helped TPTB lose sight of who or what Clint had been up to the point.

IIRC, the original plan was for Bo to be with Viki and Clint to be Dorian (or Pat). However, as you say, Soaplovers, TPTB recognized the chemistry between ES and CR and changed gears.

Am I wrong for hoping he DOES try something so that she WOULD beat his ass? I am? Oh, well, lol.

IA. In its heyday, AMC had a marvelous sense of humor, and I think the Dobsons could have revived some of that, had they ever been approached about taking over, and allowed to write without interference.

But, since they had foolishly killed off Vince years before, and they needed that past love to create conflict between Clint and Viki, I guess they had no choice but to rewrite history. AFAIC, re-retconning Dorian as Victor Lord's killer might have been the smartest thing RC ever did, on any soap. I must admit I cackled with Vanessa Marcil-like glee when I read the quotes from RS, about how she had turned Malone and ES onto the fact that DID sufferers have more than one alter and that it all stems from child abuse, only to have her so-called "good deed" blow up in her face when they rewrote history and made Viki her own father's murderer. "Goody," I thought. "Serves you right for meddling in the first place!"

It wasn't enough for Mikey Malone to convolute the hell out of an already convoluted history (and insult longtime OLTL fans' memories of Victor Lord in the process) just to make that storyline happen (although, after the 1985 and '89 retcons, they were probably used to being told that everything they saw onscreen was just their eyes lying to them). Nope, he couldn't resist putting the damn thing to bed w/o taking a huge, watery dump on the memories of every Joe/Viki fan out there by having Viki reveal that she never felt more alone in her entire adult life than when Sloan -- not Joe, but Sloan -- passed away. Sorry, Mikey, but this fan is never going to see what you clearly wanted all fans to see in Sloan, and in Sloan and Viki. Joe Riley's impact on Viki's life was far greater than that of Sloan Carpenter's -- she had children by Joe, for God's sake; and lost him not once, but twice -- and to suggest that losing a husband she had for "a brief time" was her darkest hour is complete and utter b.s. Just as it was b.s. that Viki being drawn to a man who was so much like her own father was so profound. God. Did anyone ever bother to tell Malone about Steve [!@#$%^&*] Burke!?

I feel the same way. As the saying goes, the fix is in. No offense to any white women here, but I don't give a damn what y'all are gonna do in the midterms. You made it clear whose side you were on when the majority of you chose Trump. Ergo, I say, concentrate on getting more POC to bring the votes, along with independents who might sway to the left, or people who, like myself, chose to sit out the last election for whatever, foolish reasons. ESPECIALLY go after folks like me, because, if 2016 taught us anything, it's that we can't count on white men or women anymore to do the choosing for us. If Bloomberg ends up as the Democrats' candidate, then we might as well cede the next election to Trump. Plain and simple.

Wow. Well, I hope he's telling the truth about standing up for female staffers, and not just hopping on the #MeToo bandwagon as a means of getting back at Crown Media for his dismissal.

Conservatives cannot exactly brand Ford a liar, because doing so would incur the wrath of #MeToo followers, which would be tantamount to political suicide this close to the midterms. Furthermore, although they've trotted out the glowing endorsements ("We're women, we work for Kavanaugh, and even though we're saying this before any allegations make the news, we just want everyone to know what a gentleman he is!") and the usual boys-will-be-boys justifications, something about the defenses on Kavanaugh's behalf feel very half-hearted to me, as if they know we've heard all the excuses before and are not buying them. So, what's left for his supporters to do? Mistaken identity, and the pictures to prove it. Crap that is straight out of the "Law & Order: SVU" playbook. (I'm halfway expecting to see Ice-T and Kelli Giddish arresting Garrett.) I'm not ready to say "KENNEDY FOR PRESIDENT" just yet, but let's just say I'm keeping an eye on him.

More like, they start running out of psychos. But seriously, I couldn't make it all the way through the Pollocks' stuff, because their stories were so plot-driven that (IMO) it made the characters exasperating to watch.

Yet, people would swear up-and-down that it had absolutely nothing at all to do with the color of Obama's skin. I don't blame Obama for "moving beyond the United States," as DD said upthread, and becoming more of a global humanitarian. Don't get me wrong, I believe he still loves this country. However, I think any individual who endures the kind of racist b.s. that Obama endured for eight years -- often, from his own constituents, the people whose interests he had to put before his own -- has to reach a point of thinking, "Well, forget y'all, then!". I think Obama knows he will never attain the level of respect that other, previous presidents have attained in their lifetimes, so he has chosen to move onto making a difference on the global stage.

I keep fearing this'll end up like some episode of "Law & Order: SVU," with Kavanaugh in tears, saying he was drunk and scared and didn't wanna hurt her like that because he really loved her but all his friends kept teasing him and if he could take back that night he would. (Cue Mariska Hargitay's standard "WTF am I witnessing here?" reaction.)
