My sentiments exactly, lol. Frankly, I don't think this (meaning, of course, Lauer's firing) would have happened had "Today"'s lead in the morning show race been as solid as it had been in years past. But, with "Good Morning America" and even "CBS This Morning" gaining on them, I feel like the situation was ripe to give Lauer more than just a stern talking-to and maybe time off for rehab at some sex addiction clinic. And to think: everyone was so sure Megyn Kelly would be gone first.- Hollywood Sexual Harrasment/Assault Thread

IA. Especially in regards to HRC. To me, it seems as if people (and women in particular) have finally begun to push back against the "crooked" narrative that has dogged her for decades. They see what all the years of innuendo and outright lies have cost not just her but this country as a whole and they've said, "Enough"!- The Politics Thread

Now, her story makes sense (to me, anyway). And yes, I believe her. Thanks, Amy!- The Politics Thread
I think I might have been blindsided by the fact that he's a Gold Star dad (right?) and that military people, especially parents of fallen soldiers, haven't been too happy with Trump. It never occurred to me that Kelly would politicize his own son's death and denigrate an AA congresswoman in order to prop up his boss. If anything, H.R. Pufnstuf McMaster, who I still think is an absolute kook, looks to be more like what I had expected Kelly to be: namely, someone to call Trump out on his b.s.- The Politics Thread
I'm with Wendy: I won't believe this is happening until the prison doors close on Trump and his associates and they're each taking turns being Schillinger's new bitch. I think he's just trying to snatch some attention away from the "Roseanne" revival. Besides, at this point, that kind of tape means nothing to Trump Nation. I am SO over General Kelly. He's proven himself to be as scummy as the rest.- The Politics Thread
The pain of having a white man cut off your foot to keep you from escaping the plantation again ain't nothing compared to the indignity of dealing with Trump supporters on Twitter.- The Politics Thread
Exactly. But, most of the other stuff you've mentioned is beyond his cognitive abilities, if you know what I'm saying? Plus, like you suggested, he's employing diversionary tactics to keep the focus off (what else) Russia. So, that's why, with all the crises exploding right now in all sectors of our government, he's treating us to lies about magazine covers and feuds with people like LeVar Burton.- The Politics Thread

Meanwhile... Oliver Stone Responds to Melissa Gilbert Harassment Allegations IDK what to think about this one. On the one hand, I DEFINITELY think Oliver Stone has the capacity to behave like a pervert and misogynist. But...she read the audition sides, right? So, she should've known what kind of movie and role she was auditioning for...right? Regardless, the thought of Half-Pint asking anyone to "do her" just skeezes me out. On top of that, I just read that PBS and Bloomberg will no longer distribute his show. IOW, Charlie Rose's career is over. This is all starting to remind me of Chekhov's "The Cherry Orchard" and the recurring, off-stage sound of trees being chopped down and cleared ("the sound of a string breaking," as it's written in one translation) as the family who owns the orchard realizes (or doesn't realize) their entire way of life is disappearing. Whenever another notable gets exposed as a sexual predator, it's like hearing another string break. ETA: I'm hearing that CBS is looking to Oprah to fill Rose's chair on "CBS This Morning," if only temporarily.- Hollywood Sexual Harrasment/Assault Thread

I'll say now what I said back then: if Bill Clinton did, indeed, force himself on Juanita Braddock and Kathleen Willey, then he needs to pay for those crimes and whatever other crimes he has committed against other women and men. Whether he pays by man's law or God's law or both makes no difference to me. But the fact remains that Bill Clinton left the WH not only having extinguished the national debt, but with a surplus in the bank as well. An immoral character, yes, but also, a pretty darn good president.- Hollywood Sexual Harrasment/Assault Thread
Let's hope Bill Moyers was too busy drinking and driving to grope any women or force himself on them. I can't BELIEVE I just said that. Probably. Which is a shame, in a way, because I thought "CBS This Morning" really had something going with him, Norah O'Donnell and (yes, even) Gayle King. Damn. Say it ain't so, Charlie.- The Politics Thread
Barack Obama and whoever it was at NBC who gave Donald Trump his own reality series are the reasons why we have Donald Trump. But people would rather say "Bill and/or Hillary Clinton" than admit they hate Black people and love reality TV stars. No, I'm not! I'll vote for conviction no matter what! Between Monicagate and the O.J. Simpson case, the mid-to-late-'90's were 100% pure hell. Both were very public, very tawdry scandals that literally consumed all airtime (and in the case of the latter, was at least partially responsible for the decline of soap operas in this country). Of course, before all that, we had the LAPD/Rodney King mess, something ELSE we couldn't seem to get away from, no matter how hard we tried. Yes, it is. And really, where does it come from? Where or when did it get its start? That's what I'd like to know. Because, to me, it seems like people hated them from day damn one. And the irony, from what I understand, is that Anita Hill didn't even WANT to talk about the harassment. She wasn't breaking down any doors to be heard, because it was just that embarrassing to her; so they came to her (right here, in Oklahoma) and basically pressured her into testifying. All she wanted from the very beginning was to be left alone, but instead, not only did the panel not believe her, they literally shamed her for attempting to besmirch Clarence Thomas' "good name" in the first place.- Hollywood Sexual Harrasment/Assault Thread

What I couldn't stand the most about Lena was her so-called defense against critics who asked why her show featured no POC. I can't remember her exact words, but the gist of her argument was, "I don't include POC on my show, because I haven't been around many POC, so I don't think I would capture their perspectives accurately." Okay, fair enough. But your show IS set in Brooklyn, which is not exactly "Leave It to Beaver"-ville. And you haven't been around many POC? Again, you live in NYC. What does that say about you when you live in one of the most racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse cities on Earth and you're STILL so insulated? Have you ever tried to get to know us, understand "where we're coming from"? And if you really cared at all about including POC on your show (which she did, later on, and from what I have been told, rather half-heartedly) and representing us fairly and accurately, then why not hire young, African-American women, or other WOC, to work on your writing staff? Heck, Issa Rae, I think, would have been PERFECT for "Girls," both as a supporting player and as a writer/producer. It's the same criticism I have lobbed against Woody Allen in the past whenever it comes up that he doesn't include POC in prominent roles (meaning, something other than maids and whores) in his movies: acknowledging that you know nothing about us does not automatically give you a pass to exclude us from your work. We don't have to be the lead in your movies and TV shows, but dammit, we don't have to portray the maid, the whore, or the "big, Black, beautiful buck" of a personal trainer with only one line either.- Hollywood Sexual Harrasment/Assault Thread

Some say that's because they hold elections on a workday rather than give people that day off or hold elections during the weekends. Others (who are more cynical) say it's because everyone in politics is dirty and that no matter WHO wins the election, they'll never truly represent the people who put them into office. Me? I'll admit that I stayed away from voting was because I didn't want to be called into jury duty. Okay, what's going on with Sean Hannity?
