Netflix: One Day at a Time
I'm sure Sony is considering the move even as we speak.

Netflix: One Day at a Time
SonyCrackle (formerly just Crackle) is Sony's streaming outfit. I don't use the service, so I don't know whether they have remained free (with ads), but I know they offer a mix of original stuff and shows from the Sony library. Given that Sony owns ODAAT, too, having new eps run on SonyCrackle makes tremendous sense.

Netflix: One Day at a Time
In that case, what about a cable network? The more I think about ODAAT going to one of the "Big Four" (or Five or Six), the more I'm afraid that network will interfere creatively and cause viewers to complain and jump ship.

Is Hulu (or another streaming service) out of the question?

Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin indicted in bribery case
I don't know if I was the one who said it, but I certainly agree with it, lol. Typically, giving an actress the lead in one of their signature mystery series on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is seen as a vote of confidence on Crown Media's part. They believe that actress has a large enough following to help the network stay competitive on Sunday nights. Ergo, when Lacey landed the just-premiered "Crossword Mysteries," it was a sign that she had "arrived." Nevertheless, thanks to Lori, Hallmark finds itself in a pickle. Both "Garage Sale Mysteries" and "When Calls the Heart" are huge draws for HMM and Hallmark Channel, respectively. It's not going to be easy just to yank the two off the air, replace them with other shows and hope for the best. It's possible that Lacey and Candace Cameron Bure will become more visible on their networks than ever.

Netflix: One Day at a Time
Aside from "Good Times," "The Jeffersons" and the original ODAAT, I have no use for Lear's brand of "comedy."

Netflix: One Day at a Time
That's what I'm saying! ODAAT's cancellation can't be put down to financial reasons, because Netflix has renewed other series that cost way more than a half-hour, four-camera sitcom ever would. They've just decided that they want a demographic other than the one ODAAT was bringing. (By the way, I watch neither ODAAT nor any other series on Netflix. But I still think this stinks.)

Agree. Hallmark, however, could justify cancelling WCTH by saying it had run for five (now six) good seasons, that every series must end sooner or later, etc.

Netflix: One Day at a Time
Sure does. And if you know about the history of the FOX, WB and UPN networks, for example, then you know that b.s. moves like cancelling ODAAT are nothing new. It's the same old story: use us (meaning, the "urban" audiences) to build your brand, then toss our asses out with the trash while you go chasing after white America. I hate to say it, but maybe Mo'Nique had a point about boycotting Netflix.

Somehow, I knew Felicity and Lori (and their spouses) didn't come up with the idea all on their own.

Which is exactly what they did do in 2016, I think. Berniebots didn't get their way, so they chose to take it out on the rest of the country. I still believe letting Bernie (and his followers) have the nomination is the best course of action for the 2020 election. If he runs against Trump and loses, then maybe -- just maybe, even if it's just a pipe dream of mine -- but maybe, his followers (and the media) will have to accept that their guy can't win elections. OTOH, if Bernie runs and actually wins, then he will HAVE to put his money where his mouth is, so to speak, and prove once and for all whether his so-called vision for this country is doable and sustainable. Believe me, if he were to flame out as president, the rest of the country (and the world) will let him know about it.

Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin indicted in bribery case
Yeah, I figured this (the Hallmark Channel's severing all ties with LL) would happen. Even if she pleads guilty, serves whatever sentence the court hands down to her (probation, community service, or a combination of the two) and goes on every morning and talk show to express how guilty and ashamed she feels for taking away opportunities from more deserving students, the taint from this scandal will follow her for some time to come. And even though one could write a whole section of books about the behind-the-scenes doings at their "Home & Family" show, Hallmark/Crown Media is ALLLLLLLLL about being wholesome. "[O]ur kids would disown us if we ever tried to interfere." Sure they would. I feel like WCTH is too important to Hallmark for them to cancel it altogether. But, who knows? Frankly, I think the smarter thing to do would be to write out Lori's character next season (since filming for the current season has wrapped already) and move on. Has "Fuller House" wrapped for the season/for good? If so, then there might be nothing they can do. (Same goes for WCTH. Hallmark will have to run the rest of the current season at some point -- after the scandal has died down somewhat -- if they don't want to lose money.) OTOH, if the show's still in production, they could write her out of upcoming scripts. Writing staffs on sitcoms are used to doing that sort of thing. But, kill her off? Nah. They'll just leave her offscreen.

Bullstitt. They had enough viewers. Netflix is playing games with people, and I, for one, am not amused.

Verily, I say unto y'all, I have NO idea why people expected Paul Manafort would receive a harsher prison sentence than he did. After all, this IS America, Charlie Brown; and IN America, there are two kinds of justice: one for the rich, and one for the rest of us. I'm just glad he'll do SOME time and not receive some wimpy probation-and-a-fine-and-maybe-community-service sentence.

Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin indicted in bribery case
To me, it just confirms what I said yesterday: for whatever reason, I always found Felicity Huffman to be off-putting and unlikable. And apparently, I wasn't alone in that opinion, or else why would people in the entertainment industry not be all that surprised by her indictment? If I were William H. Macy, I would think long and hard about whether I'd want to stay in that marriage. Not that I think he's above reproach -- I'm with you there, @DRW50! -- but talk about a toxic marriage! In an instant, the two have become an embarrassment and a liability to each other.

Frances Fisher and I are totally on the same page. I, too, believe every parent charged SHOULD pay for the education of whichever kid they knocked out of contention. At the very least, the courts should order them to set aside those dollars for a scholarship fund for disadvantaged students seeking a college education. Because, it should go without saying, those students, and no one else, are the real victims in this tragedy. Meanwhile, I'm trying to remember whether Fisher and LL were on EON at the same time. If they were, and they were friendly from back then, then this probably cuts very deep for both actresses. And yet, some of these same folks gave Elizabeth "Pocahontas" Warren [!@#$%^&*] for claiming she was partly Native American (which she most certainly is, since most who come from Oklahoma tend to have at least some Native American ancestry in their background).

Meanwhile, Teresa May's second Brexit plan was voted down: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-47547887 At this point, only two options appear possible to me: either the UK leaves the EU with no deal (which would be a disaster, quite frankly), or they admit the majority who voted to leave in the first place were [!@#$%^&*] racist morons, and call for another referendum that could end with the UK staying put.

Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin indicted in bribery case
Well, there IS Jodie Sweetin, who's been married eleven hundred times, and who has a history of drug abuse. However, that was pre-Hallmark. She has since cleaned up her act (or so she says) and so Crown Media believes her to be worthy of their craptastic original movies. Yeah, that irks me as well. Why must Lori and Felicity go down for this WITHOUT their husbands? There's no way they couldn't have been complicit! On the bright side, Felicity and Lori could play themselves in the Lifetime Original Movie!
