There's an episode of "Law & Order: SVU" where (I think) Malcolm McDowell plays a Rupert Murdoch-esque figure with an Asian wife. (Murdoch, if you recall, was once married to Chinese-born Wendi Dang). As viewers, we're supposed to believe theirs to be a happy, loving relationship. However, at the episode's climax, when Vincent D'Onofrio (or whoever was his surrogate for that season) exposes McDowell's culpability in the Murder of the Week, his true feelings toward his wife and Asians in general is revealed...and no, it's not pretty. Similarly, like I always said about my now-ex-sister-in-law: just because you lay with us and you make our babies, that doesn't mean you're not racist. In fact, she proved time and time again just how racist she really was, and continues to be. (And then there's my second cousin, who said -- and I quote -- "When I marry, I'm marrying a white man, because black men are ugly"; and who, when busted by her mother, busted my ex-cousin-in-law, saying, "Well, didn't you say that the next time you got married, it would be to a white man, too!?") Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell share similar attitudes toward their respective spouses. Just because they married women who are not American-born (and in Chao's case, are non-Caucasian), that doesn't mean they are racially tolerant. If anything, it shows how desperate both men were to find wives who were NOT American-born and therefore, were more submissive toward them than their previous wives had been -- which is misogynistic AND racist.

Yep. The media's always on the hunt for the next Watergate. I've no idea either. I THINK it's because much of the media seems to love AOC and her Riot Girl Squad, but that's only my guess. To quote NYT's Paul Krugman (yes, I know, it's from the dreadful, POS NYT, lol): "Sorry, there’s no way to both sides this, or claim that Trump didn’t say what he said. This is racism, plain and simple — nothing abstract about it." And, well, I think he's right. What Trump tweeted was unequivocally racist, with no wiggle room for defense. So, that might be why many within the media are now calling him racist, too. But you ARE, Blanche! You ARE important by serving on those committees! AOC is someone who wants all the credit for doing half or none of the work. Pure and simple. She is an empty-headed, self-entitled brat; and I want her gone from Congress like yesterday. It's for the best, though, since we clearly don't have our acts together anymore. I'm just sorry that those who need desperately to leave their countries due to impoverished conditions or religious or other persecution now have one less place to run to for sanctuary.

I'm still so worried that the press and progressives will push the House Democrats into pursuing articles of impeachment against Trump; and that if/when their efforts fail, the press and progressives will blame the House Democrats for losing a fight they never wanted to pick in the first place. The press, the progressives and the GOP all want the "establishment Dems" and centrists to burn. God, I hope so. I hope the CBC and every other POC in Congress who thinks this is b.s. does whatever they must to see that AOC is one-and-done. God love her, but she had no business running for office.

The only thing Dale Peck and I agree on is how weird it is that Buttigieg married the first guy he dated. (Like, really? The very first guy, Pete?)

Believe it or not, I thought NP's arrival was one of the few bright spots during the otherwise dreadful LML era. True, she isn't the world's finest actor. However, I've watched her in a ton of movies and shows over the years -- including even the godawful "Walker, Texas Ranger" -- and I've never seen her phone in a performance. Ever. If I had been writing Y&R, I would have worked very hard to give her material, because I know she'll do whatever she can to keep you watching. (Again, "Walker, Texas Ranger," lol.) Exactly -- and I do agree with what you said, @DramatistDreamer, about her and KSJ's chemistry. It was different from the chemistry between him and VR, yet he and NP had the potential to become a bankable couple in their own right. Same goes for Tammy Lauren, who had (as Maggie Sullivan) what I thought was a good rapport with Doug Davidson, an actor I've always been rather meh about, TBH.- The Politics Thread
Doesn't he know that Ryan sold his spine to Mitch McConnell?
