  1. Here's what I think: if "Luke & Laura" were inevitable, then GH should have taken more time -- put Luke, Laura and even Scotty through more paces, so to speak -- than they did in getting them there. Luke and Laura made (consensual) love at the end of the Left Handed Boy storyline. That could have easily waited until after the Ice Princess saga. Instead, their first "on the run" story could have been more about fostering trust -- friendship, even -- and really dealing with their complex feelings about what happened that night at the Campus Disco (that is, when they weren't running from Frank Smith's goons). I think the show dealt with those issues somewhat immediately after the assault, but (from what I have seen online) by the time the two were alone together -- a real test of trust on Laura's part, if you ask me -- it seemed as if the show's sole agenda was to sell the two as the Next Big Thing and forget all about the "seduction."
  2. Yeah, the more I think about this news, the more worried I become. Folks, the sands may have finally run out of the old hourglass.
  3. But, you'd have the issue of Laura falling in love with a man who LOOKED like her rapist, which, to me, is as problematic as her falling in love with the actual rapist. Gloria Monty, Pat Falken Smith and everyone else at GH and ABC should have accepted that, popular or not, Luke Spencer had been written into a corner and needed to die, per their original plans. If the network wanted to keep TG around, then, hell, get him a job on AMC, OLTL or RH.
  4. I'm always up for some more of Pat Falken Smith and Frank Salisbury's writing. Thanks, @Franko!
  5. I have a feeling that if we don't remove Trump from office (either through impeachment, or the 2020 election), the rest of the world is gonna stand up and DEMAND we do it.
  6. I wish TPTB would make these (and other) episodes from the past available online. Even if you have to pay a subscription fee to watch classic DAYS, it's better than watching the dreck we're subjected to now.
  7. I've always said ISIS was another Vietnam waiting to happen. We couldn't keep Saigon from falling into the Communists' hands, and we couldn't keep ISIS from resurging either.
  8. SNL has never done right by its' Black cast members. Not even Eddie Murphy -- which makes his ascendancy during his time on the show all the more remarkable.
  9. This is what happens when you don't let TP write for "Scandal."
  10. "David [O'Brien] is a bachelor, but he's housebroken!" WTF?!
  11. SNL faces the same "problem" with Kamala, perhaps, that they faced with Obama. Unless they can fall back on tired stereotypes, they're at a loss as to how to satirize Black politicians. Exactly.
  12. The "Public Charge Rule" -- that's the one where people immigrating to this country must prove they're able to afford private health insurance, correct? Three big losses in the courts and more rats crawling from out of the woodwork to eat each other on this Ukraine mess. Now THIS is the kind of winning I like, lol!
  13. Mama Khan seems to think Shep left because some personal scandal's about to break. It couldn't possibly be because of his feud with Tucker Carlson -- "Shepard's been there forever, Tucker just got there" -- or because he had the audacity to criticize the Trump administration on air. Now I know why we can't keep any Kool-Aid in the house.
  14. And they call the left a bunch of snowflakes. Incredible.
  15. FNC is a joke of a network. If only someone would do to it what Brian Frons did to SoapNet.
  16. Although Claire Labine didn't give Mel much to do in the "unearthing Dorian's past" storyline, I felt like she really invested a lot of time and energy into making him and Dorian a viable, romantic, older couple. It's a disgrace how JFP came along and just obliterated it all out of hubris and spite.
  17. You aren't, lol. I, too, believe Shep's departure had something to do with Murdoch and Barr's meeting (and vice-versa). Shep was probably the ONLY one at Fox News willing to call out the administration on their bullshit, and now he's gone? AND, he leaves "escorted by security," too, after his last broadcast, which apparently caught everyone at FNC and FBC by surprise? In life, there are no such things as coincidences. Which also explains my feelings about the talking points being leaked AGAIN to the Democrats. I'm with you on that as well, @DramatistDreamer. As they say in all those cheesy horror movies, the calls (or, in this case, the talking points) are coming from inside the house. Cue the "Hanoi Jane" rehashes from the right.
  18. "Zarf" has become a sort of curse word for me.
  19. IMO, Trump's actions regarding the Kurds amount to treason. That ALONE should be grounds for removal from office, let alone impeachment.
  20. Vienna will not wait for you, Rudy.
  21. Yeah, Trump might have thrown the Festrunk brothers under the proverbial bus. (By the way, when's the expiration date on the phrase "throw under the bus"?) OTOH, Trump is so clearly in the grips of dementia, it's truly possible he does not remember them. At all. For you, maybe. For me, however, watching Lindsay Graham get punk'd has me singing: Yup. If I were the judge, I'd deny bail and hold those two until trial.
  22. Why not? Certainly, listening to Drew Barrymore talk for an hour five days a week couldn't make us any stupider than we are already!
  23. Absolutely.
  24. Which is, perhaps, the saddest thing to happen in my lifetime. Since when was it wrong to be educated, or to have paid one's dues, in order to be trusted to run a damn country? I shouldn't feel like I'm SMARTER than the president, when it's always been the other way around! But, you see, I blame George W. Bush for that. He was the first Commander-in-Chief who made it okay to be "intellectually incurious," as my hero, Linda Ronstadt, once so aptly put it.* America should have learned never again to elect a man into the WH, who only got married because his wife was a librarian and he needed help reading the big words. (*Yes, I'm a Linda Ronstadt fan. Fight me.)
  25. Is it just me, or is the wording in that first tweet ("Two foreign-born men who have worked with Rudy Giuliani [...] are expected to be unsealed later today") oddly funny? "Unsealed"? So, does that mean they've been kept inside Ziploc bags until now? (Don't worry, I get what Tom Winter is saying, no need to explain it to me, lol.)
