Ratings from the 80's
Are you kidding? I, for one, am LOVING these ratings from BITD. I've learned so much just from looking at the numbers. Thank you so much for posting them -- and by all means, PLEASE keep doing so, if you have anymore to share.

Exactly. The DNC has done nothing to address our growing concerns about voter suppression in this country, especially in regards to how it has affected the downballot races in the Southern states. They're too focused on winning or winning back a section of voters (the WWC who voted for Trump in 2016) who are not coming back to the party (and who we really didn't need to begin with). IA. I'm not a Black woman, so I don't feel qualified to answer your question, @Gray Bunny. But I do agree that the falsehoods about her prosecuting career are hard to correct and/or overcome in many voters' minds. That, and the Bidens' alleged connections to Ukraine, are the "BUT HER EMAILS!" of 2020. Donna B. could wipe the floor with Trump. It's not that hard. And if/when THAT happens, then it's over. Our generation and the next will have to live with whatever damage the GOP exacts upon us all over the next four years and beyond.

I don't think you're wrong. Look at Buttigieg, for instance. Yes, in several, important ways, he is "anti-Trump." But is he really FOR us (and by "us," of course, I'm talking about my fellow African-Americans)? As much as I like the guy personally and don't believe him to be an out-and-out racist, his record when it comes to African-Americans is...not that great; and that, and NOT the fact that he's gay, is what has many of us concerned. IMO, what seems to be falling on deaf ears on BOTH sides of the political aisle is that POC, and especially African-Americans, continue to bear the brunt of institutionalized racism in this country, in terms of jobs, incomes, housing, education, healthcare, and ESPECIALLY law enforcement. At best, many in the political arena pay proverbial lip service to the idea of reforms. At worst, they dismiss our concerns as over-inflated by the media and everywhere else. (Yes, I'm looking at you, Bernie.) I'm not saying Dems need to pander to POC, but I think they need to realize ASAP that we ARE the party's backbone, if not the country's as a whole; and that heeding our concerns and advice will go a long way toward reclaiming government from the GOP's grasps.

Thank you, @DRW50! That was my sentiment exactly!

I don't think it's JUST M4All that has 'em frantic. A Warren presidency could potentially lead to companies such as FaceBook being anti-trusted within an inch of their lives (and profit margins). That must cause the Zuckerbergs of our country to have night sweats.

At the very least, he needs to start running as a Republican instead.

Wow, I had no idea "Hart to Hart" did so well in the ratings!

Dancing seemed to be so much a part of Cruz and Eden's relationship. Too bad they never got to share one last spin on the dancefloor before AM and MW left the show.

Whitney Houston dead at 48!
I still remember all the rumors about "Nippy" BITD. Depending on what you heard or believed, she was a lesbian, a two-timer (Eddie Murphy AND Randall Cunningham) or an all-around ho.

Jimmy Kimmel Presents Norman Lear's "The Jeffersons" and "All in the Family" Live on ABC
Episodes such as "Penny's Christmas" only prove my point: Black folks had the talking-back-to-the-actors thing down pat waaaay before "Mystery Science Theater 3000" appropriated and monetized it. Michael: "What about the new album by Donna Summers?" First of all, Michael seemed only too happy to suggest to Penny that she buy it for him rather than for Willona -- a coded reference, perhaps, to Ralph Carter's sexual preference? Second, what IS it with us (African-Americans) always adding an "s" to Donna's last name? It ain't the first time I've heard one of my peeps do that; it's not even the tenth or twentieth! It's Donna SummER, y'all. No "s".

Meanwhile, I'm sure Andy Lack is putting the final, finishing touches on Matt's soon-to-be-announced primetime chatfest on MSNBC.

That must have been during the "THEY WANNA TAKE THE BABIES!" storyline with KL's Val. From what I understand, that story was HUGE for KNOTS, with practically everyone waiting for Val to be reunited with her twins.

Midwesterners, I find, are very stubborn people. They believe what they believe, and they resent anyone, especially any "coastal elites," who tell them that their beliefs are wrong. That's why it doesn't surprise me to know that Trump is more popular in our section of the country (and for these purposes, I do include states like OK, TX, NE and KS with the midwest) than he is everywhere else. They're sticking with him, because everybody else is telling them they shouldn't. If only there was a way to hold elections in this country w/o including those who live in "flyover country." (I'm kidding.) Practically everyone involved has 'fessed up to there being a quid pro quo arrangement with Ukraine. It's like that old SNL sketch where Richard Nixon and (I think) John Dean (or whichever Nixon insider Buck Henry satirized) were speaking strictly for the benefit of the WH tapes. At one point, Henry's character even holds up a sign that reads "Let's stage a cover-up!," which prompts muffled laughs from him and Dan Aykroyd's Nixon.

The Equalizer
I like the idea of a female "Equalizer," but Queen Latifah? I'd much rather see Gina Torres. She kicked ass on "Angel" and "Firefly" AND USA just cancelled her series, "Pearson," today.

Ratings from the 80's
I thought it was common knowledge that CBS, having lost faith in CAPITOL's ability to sustain ratings growth, asked Bill Bell (again) to come up with another series; and that he agreed to do it (and move to CA to oversee production) because it would be a show that he and his family own "out right" and that would allow his children (specifically, Bill Jr. and Bradley) to work alongside him and learn the ropes. At least, that's what CBS' then-VP of Daytime, Michael Brockman, told Claire Labine when he asked her to pitch an idea for a new, half-hour soap. (He might've also told Paul Rauch, who ultimately pitched "Grosse Pointe"). Labine developed (I think) "Celebrations" with the understanding that B&B would likely be the one picked up for series.

Even if the majority of older Black SC'ians are concerned with his sexuality (which I doubt), I doubt that is what's stopping them from endorsing Buttigieg. African-Americans overall have issues with him that have nothing to do with whom he goes to bed with every night. Exactly. This isn't just our (African-Americans') issue. (That is, if it's even an issue with us, which -- again -- I doubt.)
