  1. I agree. LOVING's original foundation, with the well-to-do Aldens and Forbes (and Slaters) contrasting the working class Donovans and Vocheks, was almost too large for a half-hour soap. Yet, it's almost as if so much of that foundation was tossed aside, especially once Douglas Marland left the show.
  2. I think so, too. I don't expect the writing to improve overnight, but I hope TPTB allow Mulcahey and Korte enough time and freedom to do whatever they think needs to be done in order to resolve the show's issues, of which there are many, lol.
  3. Just like with Gregory Harrison at GH, DAYS took a really fine, charismatic actor like James Read and wasted him on a dead-end character who has outworn his welcome.
  4. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks TPTB directed Brenda Dickson to be that OTT in her '80's performances in order to sabotage her and force her off the show for good (which they eventually succeeded in doing).
  5. Every time I see that name, I think of the family on "Empty Nest."
  6. IIRC, Robert Soderberg was also co-HW with Tom King during the climax of the Mac/Rachel/Janice/Mitch storyline, which I think was the last time AW was really good (at least for awhile).
  7. "He took me to the Taj Mahal, he took me me to the pyramids, he took me to the Great Wall of China, and he took me to paradise with every kiss." No more beautiful words have ever been spoken.
  8. I feel bad for Christopher Murray, even though I think Alec Baldwin turned out to be a much better choice.
  9. It's how many years later? And we still can't get that man's name right, lol. I know I've said this before, but I don't necessarily need Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte to write out a bunch of characters and/or introduce (or reintroduce) characters on their own. I'll be satisfied if they can take everything that's there and make it watchable again. So much of GH these days is so generic, for lack of a better word, and needs definition or redefinition badly.
  10. To make Wally Kurth's life miserable? But seriously. I don't think there's much you could do with a record producer in Port Charles, ties to the canvas or no ties; and I can't see Lois all-of-a-sudden working in some capacity at ELQ or at the hospital either. The fact is, Lois belongs with Ned, but we know that's not gonna happen, so what's the point? I still think it's a shame how GH landed Gregory Harrison and then proceeded to waste him on a nothing character.
  11. I could be wrong, but I think the Dr. Dorman in that clip above is Bradley White, who, incidentally, is married to Jennifer Bransford (a.k.a. "Fake Shemp" Carly). I still remember him from an episode of "Law & Order" where his character killed his best friend and business partner so he could marry the guy's wife, played by Jenny Robertson.
  12. I've always said that older Reva should have been like Miss Sally Gleason: a "trashy lady" in her youth, who finally discovers class once she comes into money.
  13. I'm choosing to interpret that as Sonny realizing he never really loved Nina as much as he thought he did, lol.
  14. I agree. At best, those eras were band-aids, camouflaging the fact that NBCD itself had been a mess since at least 1980, if not before. If not for them and for the "Today" show, who knows where the network's daypart would be?
  15. Once you have the likes of Joan Collins/Alexis Carrington Colby etc. putting down roots with her Nolan Miller wardrobe in Denver, CO, you've absolutely reached the point of no return, lol.
  16. I think JER once said that he had worked on every soap that still was on the air at that time except OLTL. There was something symbolic in those events, I think. At the same time that Bill Bell is handing over the reins to the next generation and Douglas Marland is the first of legendary soap scribes to pass away, Reilly's DAYS, for better or worse, is ushering in a new era for the genre.
  17. On second thought, maybe Kenny wasn't wrong to give that song to Ciji first, lol. But seriously. I always point to that montage as the moment when the KL that people truly love was born. As you watch it unfold, and especially when you see how it ends, you just know the show is never going to be the same.
  18. A spin-off centered around Grant Goodeve? Ugh, not smart, Lorimar, not smart at all, lol.
  19. Look, all I'm saying is, it's been my experience that millennials, of which Taylor happens to be one, do not have much reverence or respect for whatever came before them. Some do, but they're the exception. Someone from Taylor's generation might not place someone like Celine Dion on a pedestal the way someone from another generation might, because Celine was "before their time" and therefore, they think she's irrelevant. Again, some millennials - like Miley Cyrus, for one - might be different, but they're the exception. Am I overgeneralizing? Perhaps. But that's just my observation as a Gen X'er. I'm not Margaret Mead. I don't have books of stats to substantiate my claims. I just have my own, first-hand, anecdotal accounts. If that's "weird" to you, then...*shrug*.
  20. So, does this mean the Horton house is going the way of 98% of the family who owns it?
  21. Oh, my dear Lord. The Mai-Lin plot is getting screwier by the minute.
  22. Taylor is a millennial. Millennials have a hard time acknowledging anyone over thirty.
