Bullseye! My fear remains this: people on the right, as well as some on the left, want to pick off Biden for various reasons, so they'll succeed in convincing the Democratic Party to force Biden out. Then, come Election Day, the Democrats will be gobsmacked when the candidate whom they pick to replace Biden AND who they think can defeat Trump actually gets trounced in the election. IOW, we Democrats are about to do what we always do: play right into our bullies' hands.

ARTICLE: George Stephanopoulos to Speak with President Joe Biden In First Television Interview Post-Debate With Former President Donald Trump
See what you've done, America? You've forced our commander in chief to have a sit-down with George [!@#$%^&*] Stephanopoulos. I hope you're all proud of yourselves, you morons.

Oh, I would LOVE to see how Black Twitter would respond to that, lol.

"Chinatown" is a brilliant movie: one that's as relevant today as it was when it premiered. He will be missed.

They can try, but what's true about Trump is true about Biden as well: the media needs him a lot more than he needs them.

I think so, too. At least, it SOUNDS like something Megan McTavish would've added. (God bless that woman, but she never knew when to quit!)

Exactly. You know what they say: a Kennedy isn't really a Kennedy until someone accuses them of sexual assault.

I can't remember: did we learn that Jim Thomason was a kiddie pornographer and THEN we learned he was also responsible for the plane crash? Or was it the other way around?

YES!!! Listen, I've spent a lifetime watching shows - daytime, primetime and everywhere else - that offered little-to-no representation for POC, so I'm used to it. Yes, I know how wrong it is for me to say as much "out loud," but IDC either way if a particular series or movie has no POC among its' cast members. I don't need to see myself on a TV or movie screen to know whether H'wood sees me or others like me because, frankly, my dear, I don't care if H'wood EVER sees me. I exist, I KNOW I exist, and that's enough for me. Now, having said that, I also believe that if you're going to commit openly to diversity, equity and inclusion, then, for God's sake, COMMIT. And that applies even to a hoary, old soap opera that's currently being run by someone whose idea of soul music is Jophielle Love. Don't post some lip-service junk on IG about how committed you are to diversity while you're filming your most popular African-American actress from two counties away. Bring back Tommy Hardy Jr.! Bring back Maya and Angela* and all dem other Wards! And bring on more Black doctors, too! Rename the hospital the James Earl Jones-Cicely Tyson Medical Center, if that's what it takes to put them all front-and-center and in storylines that can't be lifted entirely out of episodes like a Lena Horne number in an MGM musical, with no effect on the rest of the canvas whatsoever. Whatever you do, GH, to make your show more reflective of everyday life in 2024, just do it right. (*That's what I'm naming the phantom sister: Angela Ward. In honor of the late, great Angela Bofill.)

Jesus must've told Marcy she wouldn't go to hell if she met with fans and talked about her days on that sinful soap opera.

Except, as I think @Darn pointed out, it was bad optics to have Kevin "whitesplaining" the reason behind Marshall's misdiagnosis. On the one hand, I do believe the networks and others have become very skittish about delving too deeply into certain topics. But, on the other hand, I also believe viewers - and viewers from marginalized and under-represented groups, in particular - have acquired more skill in using the internet and social media as a means of protest, so that even if TPTB choose to shy away from something out of concern that it might challenge the conservative beliefs of white, Midwestern, Christian fundamentalists, they won't be able to shy away without reaping significant blowback.

If Superintendent Walters had ever paid attention in one of those American history classes that he claims teachers are leaving the Bible out of, he'd know, for instance, that the only reason why the Puritans immigrated to America was because Holland had had enough (and I'm sorry, but you know you're trash when the Dutch tell you to GTFO, lol). But that's really the history of white people, isn't it? They've never had a place to call their own like all other peoples in this world do. Instead, they've traveled from land to land, imposing themselves and their bigoted, narrow-minded practices upon those who were there already, marginalizing and subjugating them through violence and intimidation, until their oppressed find the will to fight back. So, what's really going on right now in this country is existential for white people. They know this is their last shot at dominance, and they know that the numbers (meaning, the expected percentages of POC in this country in years to come) are not on their side.

I still don't blame Roscoe Born for bailing like he did. His storyline with Julia Barr and Lauren E. Roman went off the rails in almost record time.

It is. He also played the guy who married Christine Sullivan on "Night Court" and had a baby with her before breaking up.
