-- The casting is solid. Anyone saying Karla Mosley (Dani) overacts is ignoring the reason she was hired. I'm enjoying her. -- Like others here, I need Martin to improve...become more natural, relaxed. He's great looking, but I don't feel anything between him and Smitty, and honestly, I was looking forward to them together. -- Of Dani's daughters, I think the actress playing Chelsea is much more natural than the one playing Naomi, who is a bit stiff. Plenty of time to improve, though. -- What's with all the flower bushes and full-grown hydrangeas outside of Nicole's window? I don't get that at all. It's Maryland in February, and that makes no sense.

ARTICLE: ‘Beyond the Gates’ Preview Special Performs Well For CBS, Network’s Veteran Soaps See Substantial Gains
Those BTG ratings are really impressive -- especially when you consider those were specials and not episodes of the soap. That has to be encouraging.

I should have mentioned that part of my problem with Finn is that addiction. I guess the writers need to drum up conflict somewhere, since they created none with the reveal that Chase can't be a bio dad. Will we get any conflict when we get the Gio reveal? I'm guessing no, at least not between Chase and Brook Lynn. Yep, I agree. It's so ridiculous that it's my laugh of the day right now. Chris McKenna is playing those Brennan scenes so seriously that I just can't. I've always like him as an actor, but this isn't working -- except as comedy.

-- These scenes with Brennan and Joss are HILARIOUS!!! And she has to keep her WSB job a secret? LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO -- Did Chase fall out of bed and hit his head? This "Let's get Finn to be the daddy of our baby" is so ridiculous. -- Diana is back with that hairpiece from hell LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

-- Like others here, I'm not feeling chemistry between Smitty and Martin. That was awkward, and I hope it was first-day jitters. But blaming the lack of chemistry on Mike Manning? I'm out on that. If we don't see a spark in coming episodes, it's on both of them or on the writing, not all on Mike Manning. I also find it ridiculous to criticize his looks. I mean, come on. I wanted a day one kiss between them, even if it was a peck on the lips. I'm worried that their story will have them at odds from the jump and that we're not going to see any affection. Also a mistake, in my opinion? Making their adopted kids 16 and 17. WAY too old, and I don't understand the logic there. -- Overall, a solid episode 2. Dani is hard to like even though she's been wronged, I'll say that. I like that, though. We don't need the woman scorned to be lovable. -- I do think we should hold back at least a week before handing out Emmy nominations. Just a tad premature, don't you think?

"Joss the spy thing" is a good name to call it. The entire thing is beyond ludicrous. In what world does Joss look and behave like a professional spy? If they're going to do this, just do it. Avoid these scenes with Brennan painting her like some coveted asset the WSB can't do without.

What an excellent first episode! Although I agree with many of the minor quibbles about the show, I don't think a premiere could go much better than this. -- I complained last week about the open and wasn't crazy about the theme. Today? I liked it. -- Like everyone else, all that hospital white has to change. The desk is too large and too all-white to work. -- The white couple? They were meh, but I can't really blame them considering what they were given. I do with the firefighter was hotter hehe -- I'm surprised Dani (Karla M) is written to be so unlikable, but I'm happy about that. I don't need the cliche of the poor, sweet as pie wife who was mistreated. This is more interesting. -- Tamara Tunie and Clifton Davis ground this show like very few others could. Impressive presence there. -- I'll give the newbies time to improve before criticizing, but Daphnee Duplaix deserves a shoutout for being exceptionally good. Surrounded by all that drama, melodrama, and good soapy camp, she came off as genuine and real, and I love that. My Grade: A

What Are You Listening To?
Gotta admit, I love that. Sexy, sensual, beautiful. They should let Al style Javi and write Javi's dialogue.

I hope you realize that the passion you see here for BTG is not indicative of the makeup of their audience. I love these boards -- the diverse and crazy opinions, the rumors, the inside-the-weeds stuff -- but most viewers don't care about any of that. Just as X isn't real life, these boards are not real life. You can already see here that while most of us are high on what's coming and a few are overpraising every little thing, a few people are taking jabs and throwing in a little Debbie Downer shade. That's probably going to continue. Premiere week will fill dozens of pages of comments on this board, but the truth is that the vast viewing audience doesn't even know we exist.

Y&R: February 2025 Discussion Thread
I have big problems with all 4 soaps, but I honestly think Y&R is the worst. The other 3 can greatly annoy me and get me to rant, but Y&R is just flat-out boring. With GH and BOLD and DAYS, I say "I can't believe what I'm seeing and hearing." With Y&R, I say "Why am I even watching this?" The DAYS stuff with Body & Soul was a disaster -- and Ron Carlivati deserved to be fired -- yet at least it was a trainwreck. Even a trainwreck is better than what we get on Y&R. I wonder how much anyone at CBS and Sony cares about this show any longer. If they did, Josh Griffith would have been thrown out long ago.

All these conversations with Steffy at home -- with Liam, with Daphne, with Finn -- and nary a kid in sight. Hilarious. I guess they're all on play dates. $Bill's AC problem: Remy mentioned freon. Do these writers know that freon has been phased out for OVER 30 YEARS -- since 1992? Any new AC bought after 2010 HAD to be freon free, and it is now BANNED. These writers are so effing dumb.

If GH is going there with Joss as WSB, I doubt if Chris McKenna is leaving anytime soon. Regardless, I think he's been a good recast. He's not Charles Mesure, but I like him in the role. My problem is that any WSB agent could look at Joss and think "THERE'S our next agent!" Nothing in Joss' background or past screams WSB.
