  1. And, now Zende is probably the only person in LA that doesn't know Eric is dying, but Ridge told Carter because he's "family." As most of the attendees have to pretend they don't know he's dying.
  2. I feel like there's zero movement in the Eric storyline at this point. Everyone is just repeating the same lines over and over and over again.
  3. Or when Carly and Maggie were buried alive on DAYS. They had feeding tubes, but, uh, how did they use the restroom??
  4. ITA. I think he was allowed to tell his stories HIS WAY for the most part, so you didn't have twenty cooks in the kitchen trying to have influence, and you're actually getting someone's vision. The same could be said, for better or worse, about the control James Reilly had over Passions. That show was totally bonkers, but it did have a strong point-of-view. I wasn't the biggest fan of Y&R in the 80s/90s. I thought it moved awfully slow at times, but I watched a good bit of the show because my mother did. Looking back though, I appreciate how he took the time to go through every beat in a story and his character development. If you look at B&B now, for example, stories often end or are dropped in a single episode, such as Taylor and Brooke's friendship or the way people switch partners, back and forth, in the blink of an eye. It's like...who cares who's with Ridge or Liam now. It can all change next week. There are often no long-term impacts of a story. The best stories lead the audience to the NEXT story. Whatever happens on B&B is often immediately forgotten. Also, stories will come out of nowhere with no build-up, such as Zende suddenly not liking RJ. It's hard to get emotionally invested in this type of storytelling. If Bell were still writing Y&R, I seriously doubt we'd be getting these non-stop business stories about vague companies, all stories with ZERO emotional impact. Who cares where someone is working this week??? They'll work at another company next week.
  5. This was probably one of the worst and most offensive plot twists ever thought up. If TPTB really wanted to give Erica a son, they could have just said she had twins when she gave birth to Kendall and didn't realize that there was another baby. The whole twist was HORRIBLE. I remember a line where Erica asks Tad how is this even possible. He just shrugs and says, "I don't know, but it did." So stupid.
  6. ITA about Allie. It's like they never even gave the character a chance. Even though I like the actress, Chelsea is the most pointless character on the show.
  7. Wow...now with Cole back...who seems to have been tricked on showing up...I really do wonder if Claire is Eve.
  8. I think a great example...and the topic of it was actually explored recently on the show...is Christine on Y&R. The character never had children, and I believe she was only pregnant and miscarried that one time with Paul. Around her anniversary show, Christine mentioned that she never had children and focused on her career, and now she wondered about it. Her character in particular is sort of limited on a soap. She's too old to be the ingenue anymore or a romantic lead...not that she couldn't be...but with soaps being such intergenerational stories it does limit her. She started so young on the show it would be difficult or even impossible to do "the long-lost child." Didn't AMC have a similar issue with Brooke, and then they had her adopt a daughter all of a sudden?
  9. I have to admit that as much as RJ is a snack, I'd be all over Team Zende if I was Luna. That man is so beautiful he's pretty. I think this story could be interesting IF they actually flesh it out, but some build up would have been nice. Zende went from not being seen for months to suddenly hating RJ. But, I think Zende has a point. I mean..just look at how much screen time he gets versus the white Forresters! Also, literally EVERYBODY in the family has been told Eric is dying except Zende. All of sudden, NOW Ridge wants to respect his wishes?? If it turns out that Luna is Bill's, it seems like another lost opportunity that the writers didn't fully explore. This whole time they should have been building Bill/Li, so when this was revealed, Li would really have a reason to hate her sister if Bill was the first man she moved on with after her divorce. I mean...this writes itself! What are the writers doing? So, so many story beats are overlooked that would make the plot as whole better. And...IF Luna is Bill's, this would be the third child he didn't know he had?! Did Dollar Bill EVER use protection? It's not that hard!
  10. Was it ever explained why Sophia chose to be in MALE drag as her disguise? If I recall correctly, we were supposed to believe Dominick was actually a man the first few months, but I don't think that ever quite worked.
  11. I was wondering if that was where it's going, too.
  12. Follow through with the writing has been a problem on this show for many many years. It just keeps reverting back to what was happening before. For example, Brooke and Taylor's friendship presented an opportunity to take the show in a new direction, but...it all got dumped in the span of one episode so they could fight over Ridge for the millionth time. It often feels like they're scared to do anything new.
  13. It sort of came out of left field with no build-up, but damn...the dude who plays Zende is beautiful.
  14. I'm cautiously optimistic about the Claire storyline. I must admit it's the most interested I've been in a story on this show IN A VERY LONG TIME. I was wondering who Claire kept referring to with waiting for "the whole family" to show up. Includes Cole???
  15. I groaned when I saw this preview. Are they really going to make Chance work at a vague corporation, too??? I'm wondering this, too. But, who the hell is Aunt Jordan in all of this then?
  16. Liam is totally nuts at this point. In the same day, he's both telling STEFFY and HOPE that he loves them. And they're both telling him to buzz off. I don't where this character has to go at this point unless they really are taking him straight to Crazy Town which would better than what we've gotten from him for ten years now.
  17. Liam is such a indecisive a-hole....just like Ridge. This show is great at writing unrootable male characters.
  18. The show definitely needs a fresh perspective. Most stories have no real ramifications. Characters change partners at the drop of a hat and then switch back again in a blink of an eye. When things like this happens, there's no stakes for the audience to anything because you know everything can change again for absolutely no reason. The Brooke/Taylor "friendship" had the opportunity to actually take those two characters...and the show...in a new direction. But, nope, within a span of an episode, they're back to being enemies again battling over indecisive Ridge's boring ass. It's sort of like the show is afraid to let the characters grow organically and wants to keep them in this narrowly defined box. I've actually enjoyed some of the Eric and Luna stories, but again, will these stories actually let the characters change and take them into a new direction?
  19. She is! I love Audra. I REALLY want to know her backstory. Her charms though are totally due to the actress and the way she elevates the material. As cheesy as this Clarie stuff is, I'm kind of loving it. I just wished they would have stretched it out a bit more before reaching this point. Really let her get in with the Newmans first. I truly have no idea what the hell is her motive, and I'm curious. Talk about curious, but....half of Geneoa City lives in ONE hotel room at the Athletic Club, but Claire's aunt gets a house AND a bedroom!
  20. So, is no one going to tell Zende his grandfather is dying? It's so weird how they give him NOTHING of importance to do. He could have been part of the same scene with Thomas and Steffy today.
  21. They dress and style him differently than the other guys on the show, and I appreciate that.
  22. It's always been quite ridiculous that we have a show about the FASHION INDUSTRY, and there are no gay people working at FC. Not to mention that this is LA and there are no Latinos, either.
  23. He very much does! Now, they just need to bring back Jack, the kid Taylor gave birth to and was from Brooke's egg, to be the son from hell and a pot stirrer.
  24. Once the rest of the Marones were written out, they pretty much dropped the whole story point. They should at least MENTION Eric's other kids and if they're going to tell them. It's being played as if Ridge is his only child right now. You would think Brooke would at least be concerned about how this impacts Rick and Bridget.
  25. Or a brand new character for a change!
