^ Wondering if that is an error! -- Rumors/speculation .... that Episode 7150 might be repeated because it was preempted in USA June 9, 2020 but aired in Canada June 8, 2020. Broadcasts of soaps get cut off all the time lately with Covid, politics, racial injustice, and general global chaos. Was there an actual official preemption? Did anyone in the USA watch it live or catch on DVR? #7150 description: Nick and Sharon arrive via horseback to a lovely area far out on the ranch property where he has arranged for a romantic evening in a tent-like structure with exotic food and costumes. Newly-reconciled Billy and Mac happily privately discuss the future. Meanwhile Jill is annoyed to learn that they had reconciled. When Christine calls Paul from Hong Kong, Isabella answers Paul's phone. Michael calls Christine in Hong Kong and suggests she take a job offer in Australia. Malcolm and Olivia are divorcing and discussing custody of Nate. Malcolm is dating Alex and wants dating advice from Neil.

I have been reading the "rec.arts.tv.soaps" newsgroup which included Y&R through December 1994. And then the "rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs" newsgroup which is where Y&R went starting in December 1994. There was a lot of loathing of Christine. The person who recapped the hit-and-run episode on the newsgroup in 1994 concludes their report with this "How exciting!! My first day as an updater and I get to report the squashing of the bug."

For CBS Thurs July 9, 2020. Global says this is #7150 . but that was already rebroadcast on CBS June 9, 2020. Did someone get June 9 and July 9 mixed up? #7150 from June 7, 2001. Nick and Sharon arrive via horseback at an area far out on the ranch property -- where Nick has arranged for a surprise romantic evening in a tent-like structure with exotic food and costumes. Jill is annoyed that Mac and Billy have reconciled. Mac and Billy are happy and discuss the future. Christine is in Hong Kong working; and when she phones Paul at their home in Genoa City, Isabella answers Paul's phone. Paul grabs the phone from Isabella, but Christine is miffed that Isabella is still staying there. Michael calls Christine in Hong Kong and suggests she take a job offer in Australia. Malcolm and Olivia are divorcing. Mamie secretly brings little Nate to see Malcolm, without Olivia's permission. Later, at the coffeehouse, Malcolm and Olivia meet informally to discuss the divorce and custody of Nate. Neil is interested in Newman Enterprises attorney Alex Perez, but tries not to show it. Victor notices but Neil says it's strictly professional. Malcolm has been dating Alex and wants to take her on a special date, so Malcolm asks Neil for dating advice. Alex and Olivia encounter one another and argue about Malcolm's rights regarding custody of Nate.

omg this lingerie party episode was everything! Christine, Gina, Nina, Olivia, Drucilla, Luan, Lauren, Lynne. And yes they did show Luan equally with the other women. There was a comment from Gina that referenced the fact that she and Luan are both restaurant owners. Gina served the food and Luan poured the champagne. Nina guessed Dru was pregnant, Olivia tried to hide a smile. Then Dru admitted it and Nina hugged her. Nina and Lynne making faces in the corner, after Mary Williams arrived, and then whispering that Mary Williams had probably brought Christine a chastity belt! Luan's radiant smile during the episode. Lauren in underwear dashing out of the room upon seeing that Mary Williams had arrived. Drucilla and Nina bonded more, later, with so much giggling over the risqué lingerie in their gifts, wondering what Mary Williams would have said had she seen them.

Cody is on next week! Wed July 8 #6939 from August 3, 2000 Good detailed recap: http://tvmegasite.net/updates/yr/2000/yr080200.htm SUMMARY: The soapcentral recap for this date is labeled as written by CBS. This IMDB summary was very similar. Each had one or two details the other one did not have. Here are those two summaries combined into one: Kay explains to Paul that Jill doesn't believe that Mac is her granddaughter. Paul assures Kay that Jill can cause no harm unless Mac is lying about her identity. Jill explains to Jack that she is worried about Billy's strange attraction to Mackenzie. Jack claims that he can help Billy if he lets him know what's going on with Jill and Mac. Billy tells Jack that it's too complicated. Mac sees Billy and Brittany kissing and she becomes jealous. Billy asks Mac why she's avoiding him and she admits that she doesn't know how to handle seeing Billy and Brittany together. Phyllis gets Billy and Mac's heart-to-heart talk on tape! Chris is miffed as she watches her new law partner Michael socializing with Phyllis at Gina's. After Phyllis leaves, Michael assures Chris that Phyllis has a career and is no longer a troublemaker. Neil brings Olivia home from the hospital -- and Nate is surprised and overjoyed. Neil and Dru talk privately, and Neil is worried that Lily may have too many expectations; but they both agree to explain to her that their living together doesn't mean that there is any romance happening. Carter (who is actually Matt with plastic surgery) reveals to Larry that he blames Nick for getting shot 5 years ago. Nick asks Sharon if she is still traumatized by her rape by Matt Clark. Sharon tells Nick that time has helped to heal her wounds. After Nick leaves, Cody introduces Sharon to "Carter". When Sharon walks away from him, she begins to shiver.

Izzy was an associate of David Kimble. He helped David with some of his plots. But I don't know if Izzy knew the depth of what David was doing. According to this one post, Izzy also blackmailed David? https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec.arts.tv.soaps/EP_mEkTXxGc/9_nrowD5tUIJ Edit to add, I think Izzy was involved in helping David hide the truth about the brooch.

^ NOTE Cindy is wearing a strapless swimsuit at the pool party. Thanks for the info on Jay! I found this November 2019 interview with Craig Gini. He says he did around 100 episodes of Y&R but realized he wouldn't make it as a career actor, so he went back home and apprenticed in the family business, where he is now a multi-million-dollar exec. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/49-black-sheep-returns-how-to-thrive-in-family-owned/id1450374691?i=1000459822109 (the photo on the podcast page is of the interviewer, Not Craig.) Here is his website. He says on this page "Someone once thought I was John Travolta’s younger brother. That was in the late 80’s." https://collinselectric.com/craig-gini/ Some more recent pics of Craig

The Sept 14, 1994 episode airing Mon 6/29 has Sharon's birthday party at the Newman pool, as we had guessed it might. The couple are: Jay and Cindy. Matt Clark and Sharon. Amy and Nick. I don't know the character Jay. When Jay arrives at the party, Nick says "I almost didn't recognize you without your apron." Did Jay work at the coffeehouse? I didn't find him in any of the recaps. I don't know the character Cindy but I found a few recapped episodes showing she was good friends with Sharon and Amy. And later on Amy and Cindy shared a dorm room? And there was a recap where Christine and Cindy went to visit Amy at Fairview. Here is a closeup: The only Jay I could find in IMDB was actor Craig Gini. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0423129 Not sure if that's the right Jay. I can't find the name of the actress playing Cindy.

They could take three 30-minute episodes and edit them into a 2-hour special. Or edit three 30-minute episodes into two one-hour episodes to rebroadcast on consecutive days. I think that would allow enough time for modern commercials.

I realize all those details don't matter. Just posting what the 1996 recappers and commenters said, to be used as comparison later - because I want to see what the 2020 rebroadcast cuts from the original.

Another recap of the same episode. This one is much more detailed. BACKSTORY: As previously mentioned, Paul had been informally trying to mediate between Olivia and Nathan. Olivia became more and more distraught. She began to lean on Paul for help. MORE INFO: Around a month prior to the Christine/Paul wedding, Nathan took little Nate without permission from Olivia (kidnapped?). From this recap we learn that Nathan and Nate are hanging out in St. Louis. A comment dated 8/8/96 on another thread referred to the Olivia/Nate phonecall in the 8/7/96 episode. When Olivia asked Nate where he was, he refused to tell her, so she looked at the caller ID and said "still in St. Louis"? https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs/LZ9ew4k0j44/JC1tMryVYfIJ In the following recap, the recapper was calling Christine "BUG" (which is fine, of course). But to make this recap feel "neutral", I changed it to Christine. I removed the recapper's personal opinions. There was some snark, which is fun, but I removed it for clarity. You can read the original recap with all its snarky commentary here: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs/0PHhuC6wPdc/CQIEdoY8DOgJ Other the adjustments I noted, here is a quote of the original recap. The recapper posted both "Cliff notes" and "extended details", as below. The formatting and Act/Scene notations are just as the original recapper typed it. rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs (Posted 8/16/96) Y&R: Update, Wed 8/7/1996, WEDDING DAY CLIFF NOTES: Christine and Paul married in a simple ceremony. Guests included Victor, Nikki, Nick, Sharon, Victoria, Ryan, Nina, Katherine, Neil, and Malcolm. Paul and Christine made long boring speeches of love to each other at the altar. The reception was interrupted by a phone call from a hysterical (as usual) Olivia, who had spoken to Nathan on the phone. She begged Paul to come and help her, and Paul agreed to delay the honeymoon until the SWN ("Situation With Nathan") was resolved. Christine was proud of the extra shine on hubby's halo after this, and told Paul she wanted to go to Colorado to take care of something for Newman Enterprises. Phyllis came over to Danny's unannounced with Little Daniel in tow; and she and Gina exchanged catty remarks. EXTENDED DETAILS: PROLOGUE: Episode opens with tender piano music, and Christine in a long white négligée looking in the mirror wistfully. Nina enters. She says that Christine is the most beautiful brides she's ever seen. Christine's nervous. Nina assures her that this time the wedding is going to happen. She will miss having Christine next door. Cue sobs and sappy best friend talk. Gina arrives at Danny's apartment to hold Danny's hand because its Christine's wedding day. Danny insists that he's fine. He was invited, but in an uncharacteristically mature decision, stayed home. Nick and Sharon are waiting for Nikki to finish grooming herself. They reminisce about their wedding. ROLL CREDITS ACT I, SCENE I Mary is looking at one of Paul's baby pictures. He descends the stairs carrying his suitcase. (He must have spent the night, its bad luck to see a Christine before the wedding. :-) Sweet Mother/Son talk ensues. ACT I, SCENE II Flashback to Christine asking Victor to give her away, while Victor puts on his tux. ACT I, SCENE III Malcolm comes over to visit Olivia. He brought groceries, and his tux, he's going to change over here. He tries to talk her into coming to the wedding, but she refuses. Olivia says she just got off the phone with Dru, who is sick and decided to skip the wedding. Neil arrives to pick up Malcolm. COMMERCIAL ACT II, SCENE I Sharon begins to lecture Nick about marriage, it means staying together, working problems out, blah, blah, blah. Nick closes down this line of conversation and sends Sharon to get dressed. ACT II, SCENE II Olivia is fixing Neil's tie, which makes her think of Nathan. Cue "What if I never see my son again?" speech. Malcolm and Neil reassure her. ACT II, SCENE III (St. Louis Arch appears on screen). In St. Louis, little Nate shows Nathan a picture he drew of Mommy. He wishes he could see her. Nathan says that he can see that Nate can see her in his mind. (I'm sure that made sense to a four year old.) Little Nate begs to go see Mommy, whining again. (He is his mother's son.) COMMERCIAL ACT III, SCENE I Victoria enters and says hi to Nick. She's wearing a black gown with lace neckline. Nick tells Victoria about the necklace he gave Sharon. He leaves to go put on his tux. Victoria says that Cole is out of town on business. Nikki enters in a stunning blue suit. Once again, Nikki's boobs are defying the laws of physics by not falling out of her top. Victoria leaves to hurry up Nick and Sharon. ACT III, SCENE II Christine is on the phone with someone named Bob from Newman Enterprises. He's begging her to come in, some deal is about to fall through. Christine refuses and hangs up on him. Nina enters. It's showtime. COMMERCIAL ACT IV, SCENE I Everyone is arriving at the chapel. It is filled with lots and lots of flowers. Paul greets the Newmans. Victor and Nikki share a private moment, Nikki can't resist a dig about it being hard for Victor to give Christine away. ACT IV, SCENE II Nathan calls Olivia. Nathan wants to come home, but says Olivia will never again try to keep him away from his son. Nathan says not to involve the family or police. Conversation degenerates, and Nathan hangs up on Olivia. (Cue hysterical Olivia saying "Damn you, Nathan!" repeated about twenty times.) ACT IV, SCENE III Wedding begins with Nina in a simple white gown with low cut neckline. She's followed by Christine and Victor. Christine's gown is blue, with floral top and hoopskirt. (She really does look like something out of Gone With the Wind. Think the famous curtain dress :-) For those who care, the minister does *not* go through the formality of asking "Who gives this woman...") COMMERCIAL ACT V, SCENE I Minister begins ceremony. Minister cues Paul to make his speech. Paul talks about the road they've traveled, promises to love her through bad and good times, etc. etc. He gets teary-eyed, so does Christine. When Paul finishes, the minister turns to Christine and asks if she has anything to say. Christine proceeds to go off for another five minutes about how the future holds both joy and sorrow, that they will love each other, and hopefully through their love make this world a better place. ACT V, SCENE II Phyllis knocks at Danny's door. She brought little Daniel with her. Gina and Phyllis exchange less than warm greetings. ACT V, SCENE III The minister pronounces Paul and Christine married. He tells Paul he may kiss the bride. Kiss and applause. Paul and Christine walk down the aisle in slow-motion. COMMERCIAL ACT VI, SCENE I Christine and Paul cut the cake. Ryan makes a toast and says they radiate love. Victor makes a toast, upstaging Ryan once again. Paul and Christine dance to "You Are So Beautiful to Me." ACT VI, SCENE II Danny takes the baby upstairs. Gina lays into Phyllis and says this is the tackiest thing Phyllis has ever done. Gina blames Phyllis for Danny and Christine's breakup, etc., etc., etc. Phyllis tells her to butt out. Gina tells her to leave. Phyllis ensconces herself on the couch. ACT VI, SCENE III Neil cuts in on Paul, for a dance with Christine. A waiter tells Paul he has a call. Paul goes to the phone. It's Olivia, she apologizes for bothering him, but tells him about Nathan's call. She says she doesn't trust herself to deal with him. She begs him to help her deal with the "Situation With Nathan". Paul agrees to come over. COMMERCIAL ACT VII, SCENE I Danny comes down and asks where Gina is. Phyllis tells him she left, and insists that she didn't provoke her. Phyllis says she knows today is difficult for him. She admits it's her fault that he and Christine broke up. "Do you believe me when I say I'm sorry?" asks Phyllis. "Do you believe me when I say I don't give a damn?," asks Danny. Phyllis insists she brought the baby to cheer Danny up. Danny lashes out at her it's all Phyllis' fault. Phyllis leaves in tears. ACT VII, SCENE II The men are delivering an off-key chorus of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow." Christine receives blessings from a loud elderly couple.* Paul tells Christine, who agrees that he should help Olivia. Christine says she'll go to Colorado to help with the Newman Enterprises problem. They agree to just let the guests think they're going on their honeymoon, and make their excuses and exit. THE END! *[From a spoiler for this epi, the loud elderly couple are Miles and Margaret Dugan, to whom Christine once gave legal advice regarding Rainbow Gardens housing. (played by Parley Baer & Maxine Stuart)] [A comment from another thread: Nikki mentioned regarding Victor's giving Christine away: "I never realized she was his to give away."] https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs/DO678AkKR9g/4aLgyJnsNMQJ [A comment from another thread regarding the wedding reception: When Nikki and Victor were at Christine and Paul's wedding dancing, Victor leaned in to kiss Nikki. She just pulled away and said I had better leave. Then she noticed the kids had gone and left them. Nikki wouldn't let him kiss her.] https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs/phUAi55U32U/znp-0DAfzZkJ [From another comment: At some point after the wedding, perhaps during the reception, Nikki and Victor discussed that time has passed as they reminisce, and then they state now that their children are grown and they shouldn't meddle in their lives anymore.] https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs/otiL5XJm7Lc/5t5y9I1GHBAJ [From a thread discussing the attire: Did you notice that ALL the men had on tuxedos? I thought that was a little much for a small wedding in a "country wedding chapel".] https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs/_GAJasyHnBc/n3JYYec11QwJ Not just the wedding party men wearing tuxes. All the male guests wore tuxes, too. That fits with the recap saying Malcolm was putting on his tuxedo. There is a photo of the wedding reception that shows Mitchell Sherman as one of the guests, wearing a tuxedo. Mary Williams is in the same photo, wearing a yellow floor-length gown or outfit.

Info released by the show: Monday June 29 US (Friday June 26 CDN) Original US airdate September 21, 1994. Sharon Collins sets her sights on Nick. I wonder if "Sharon sets her sights on Nick" relates to the party? Sharon's 18th birthday party (which was secretly her 19th birthday) ... would have been celebrated on one of these three days (or maybe a combo of the days): Friday 9/16/1994, Wed 9/21/1994, or Thurs 9/22/1994. We know that on 9/15/1994, Sharon planned to have the party at the apartment she shares with her mother. But on Mon 9/26/1994, Sharon is talking about the party with her mother, and it had already happened, and it was at the Newman ranch.

Luan is in the bridal lingerie shower party episode. (unless they cut her scenes). Someone on the old newsgroup commented that the epi is nice because you get to see all the women together having fun. (instead of only Dru with Olivia, or only Cricket with Nina). The party has Cricket, Nina, Gina, Lauren, Luan, Olivia, Drucilla, and Lynne. It sounds like fun. And despite Christine and Paul being bland white bread, the shower sounds much better. However some of the dialog that was recapped was explaining American customs to Luan. (which is weird because Luan owns and manages a restaurant in town. I got the impression from recaps and other history that she'd been in the US for a while, but had only recently found Jack?). Well, I suppose they could cut that dialog or perhaps make it simply that she's a party guest and not explain how they know her. Luan is also in the Phyllis-runs-down-Christine-and-Paul episode. A whole chunk of the epi is about Jack planning to take Luan to the Virgin Islands for a week. He excitedly discusses this with Ashley, Ashley comments that Jack and Luan share a son, but Ash doesn't say his name. Luan is in scenes with her daughter Mai and Mai is trying to convince her mother to go and have a good time. Mari Jo has scenes complaining to Rick that she(Mari Jo) was engaged to Jack but now Jack has fallen for "that Vietnamese woman" -- and Mari Jo wanted to go skiing with Jack but instead Jack is going to the Virgin Islands with Luan. So there are several scenes talking *about* Luan. And the scenes between Luan and Mai. How would they cut all that out? Then again there is the problematic dialog: Jack says Luan has worked hard and has never taken a vacation in her life, and he is going to have Lauren pick out some Fenmore's resort clothing for Luan, and he's taking her to the island because she might need to relax for a week, (implying that she's the stereotypical all-work person). And then the conversation between Luan and her daughter Mai. Mai says she(Mai) has learned geography in school and describes the Virgin Islands to Luan, who knows nothing about them. (But again, I have to ask, a businesswoman living in America knows nothing of this?) I think they would have to keep Luan's scenes. But maybe edit out a couple of lines of dialog. Oh, and some of the epis over Sept.Oct.Nov.Dec 1994 have Keemo and Luan wanting to learn American culture. Or Genoa City residents explaining to them about certain American customs. to the point where I got impression from one of the rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs recappers that it was like a drinking game, you can bet the words "An American Custom" will be used in the episode. Christine talks to Keemo like he's a kindergartner, yet he speaks perfect unaccented American English. (Still don't know if Keemo is in the Sept 21, 1994 episode or not).

I read an old recap or summary mentioning Dru cutting up Carmen's clothes and I thought that was not really what Dru would have done. The show wrote Phyllis cutting up Sharon's clothes, too. But Phyllis is supposed to be crazy. Dru isn't. Carmen isn't a really a Karen, as you pointed out. But I was trying to say that Dru being upset at Carmen, and even cutting up the clothes, Dru getting physical with Carmen --- for those things Carmen wanted Dru imprisoned and the D.A said the best deal he could offer was two years in prison. Two years in prison is not appropriate. I haven't seen many of that year's episodes, but I've been reading the recaps for that year, and It seems like Carmen was written to be a manipulative character who "preys on married men" said one summary. I don't know. I haven't seen enough clips of her to get what she was really like. Was Carmen simply being a bad person and trying to get rid of the competition for Neil and didn't care if imprisoning Dru was unjust? Or was Carmen being a "Karen" in that the writers were using Carmen as someone who thought of Dru as ghetto/dangerous/unsafe and must be arrested? I can't tell from reading the recaps.

Bryton won the 2007 Emmy for it. Devon was talking about Drucilla but... As I watched today, it felt like a parallel to Victoria Rowell. She's not crazy. She just defends what's right. And even more, this clip feels to me like a parallel to everything that's going on on the world. Carmen Mesta is being a Karen getting Dru arrested for no reason. Carmen is afraid. Says Dru started it. etc. And Devon calls her out.
