  1. Des Moines, Iowa: The city that kicked cops out of schools and tried restorative practices instead. What happens when a school rethinks punishment. https://inthesetimes.com/article/the-city-that-kicked-cops-out-of-schools-and-tried-restorative-practices-instead
  2. Ultimately all the individual U.S. states need to fix their marriage laws and get rid of the bigoted ones. In the meantime, we have the federal law just enacted. Biden just signed into law the "Respect for Marriage Act". Here is an explainer of what that Act does and does not do: https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/respect-marriage-act-same-sex-interracial-couples/story?id=95181737 It does NOT require individual states to perform same-sex marriages in the future. But it does do this: Any same-sex or interracial marriage performed in any individual state (past and future), is and will be FEDERALLY legal in all states, even if other individual states don't approve it, and going forward, the couples cannot be denied the civil benefits of their unions in any state - even if court precedents were to be overruled. This law was passe by the House and Senate - basically to prevent the Supreme Court from overturning the previous rulings allowing gay marriage and interracial marriage. RFMA (Respect For Marriage Act) also offers explicit protections for religious groups with moral objections to same-sex or interracial marriages: They are not required to provide goods or services to the marriages they object to and their tax-exempt status cannot be rescinded for refusing to perform or respect a marriage. Sadly, this religious exemption was a "compromise" (or cop-out) that they had to use - because it was the only way the House and Senate would approve the bill. Otherwise it would not have passed. (I think I summed it up correctly? Anyone/everyone please read the article and correct/clarify if I missed anything.)
  3. This is such a spot-on satire of the British press. Same clip on his twitter: https://twitter.com/mattgreencomedy/status/1601259042122305537
  4. Victor paid Chelsea to get Billy out of commission in Myanmar. She drugged and raped him. He was unable to consent so it was legally rape. Johnny was conceived by rape.
  5. Alley Mills is wearing a blue dress in BTS pics for B&B's Christmas 2022 episode. In a Facebook post November 11th on her official fan page, Robin Mattson explained to viewers. As nice as is to be mised and so many of you have wondered what happened to me, I just want to let you know that I've been recovering from my knee surgery and today I'm going to have hip replacement surgery. Thank you all for your love and support! Looking forward to a fast recovery! Love Robin https://www.facebook.com/robinmattsonofficialpage/posts/pfbid023F7gsDNEcr2UnzvoYVNw4fY5CsyHXEfthf27Mzts95gRrSpCnXwYqy3KKrKFhEi2l
  6. That was a great dream sequence
  7. What do you mean? It will show Alley Mills' range of acting that she can appear as Heather Grant Webber and Pam Douglas the same month.
  8. Well that's a very cool bit of trivia. Thanks to @depboy for posting the summaries.
  9. I don't want to see Charlie the rapist *character* on my Days screen. Not at all. I loathe this character in every way. If Mike Manning is in other projects such as The Bay, I'm fine with that. It's good when actors get work.
  10. The Trump-like Brazilian politician Jair Bolsonaro, a rightwing nut job who was destroying the Amazon, has been President of Brazil. He ran for reelection as president and lost. His extreme right-wing supporters tried to storm the federal police headquarters in the country’s capital Brasilia, in what one commentator called a botched attempt to spark a January 6-style turmoil. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/dec/13/bolsonaro-supporters-try-to-storm-police-hq-in-january-6-style-rampage
  11. It's really disgusting. We wanted to fire Josh Griffith for being boring. But Billy's lines today that "oh well I had a wild side back then so it was fine, and enjoyed it" ... THAT is a fireable offense for a modern writer, in my opinion. What does that say to rape victims of any gender?
  12. October 28, 2022 The funny thing is that all the advance casting announcements said "Alley Mills joins GH in mystery role" and had pictures of her in proper dresses wearing pearls as she looked as Pam Douglas on B&B. Her casting as Heather was quite a surprise. Ally is really GOOD at this job playing Heather. She gets to do acting! And she's going to appear as Pam on the B&B Christmas episode, which will be funny now that we've seen her as Heather.
  13. Colorado’s Secretary of State’s office has completed the mandatory recount of the election results between Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert and Democrat Adam Frisch in the 3rd congressional district. State law requires automatic recounts when a race is within 0.5 percent of the total votes cast for the winner of the race, and as expected, the recount did not change the election results. Boebert still won. Boebert lost three votes and Frisch picked up one. The final difference between the two was 546 votes. “While we hoped for a different outcome, we defied incredible odds with the closeness of this race and delivered a moral victory for the people of CO-3, many of whom crossed party lines to reject extremism with their vote,” Frisch said in a statement Monday. https://www.cpr.org/2022/12/12/lauren-boebert-adam-frisch-race-mandatory-recount-colorado-district-3/ _________________________________________________________________ That leaves one seat vacant in the US. House of Representatives. Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin set a special election for Feb. 21, 2023 to fill the 4th Congressional District seat of the late Democratic Rep. A. Donald McEachin who died Nov. 28, 2022. https://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/nation/youngkin-sets-special-election-to-fill-rep-mceachins-seat/
