Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Sadly yes I hope I'm wrong, but I really think so. I think this Love Hotel show is their attempt to do something similar but moving away from the troublesome Girls Trip. It wasn't just the Morocco trip that had random lawsuits from what I heard - I think the butler from another season tried to bring out a lawsuit too - maybe the one from the Berkshires.

100% agree - and thank you ♥️ Good question - I can't remember all of the details, but he just doesn't show up to work after feuding with the writers due to his storyline. I think he was disgusted by the pornography-style pictures he took of Brooke's daughter, but then also being responsible for Maria's plane crash, IIRC. This was on AMC back in 1997. Here is a clip of the sudden recast, mid-scene:

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Well, I got to McTavish's first episode - July 17, 1995. While her time is short with GL, I'm interested in seeing what she does over the next year, good or bad (beyond the Brent/Marian thing, which I've known). I know most people aren't fans of McTavish, but I have to say, her early 90s work on AMC got me hooked as a kid, so I don't hate her. But boy, that memoir she wrote, wow. She lives in her own soap opera head. So on her first day, Brent Lawrence is pronounced dead in the arms of his sister, on the docks, in front of Alan-Michael. Shoutout to the actress playing his sister - she was good! I do wonder if his death was the original endgame, or if he was on contract and he was supposed to still continue on, regardless of McTavish. I think this entire storyline has been great, with the exception of Alan getting involved. His hatred over his own son allows him to be blind of or rationalize rape as being ok, so in my mind, he's a rape-enabler and it's icky. I do like how they brought Tangie into this storyline. After 5 months of seeming like a monotone floating traveler, Tangie finally got some meaty material here and I'm enjoying her character. McTavish also didn't seem to have a hand in Ghost Reva, which has been the most ridiculous storyline ever, only because I know and have now seen that she's really alive. Having Reva act like a complete shrew, visible to multiple people who are talking to her in public, is stupid. It doesn't make a new viewer like me want to like Reva. What I am truly enjoying about GL is the community feel of this soap, aside from annoying Buzz and Fletcher. But seeing the poor and rich come together, whether it be Alan-Michael getting lunch at the 5th Street cafe, or Gilly interviewing Lucy on the news, or Alex coming into the Journal offices to shoot the sh!t... it sees to be a family that I love watching. The pacing of this show, and generally in the 90s, was always so good. It's hard to get bored because storylines advance, there are cliffhangers almost every day, and they rotate storylines day to day. I'm loving Roger and his antics. He reminds me of a mix of Adam Chandler and David Hayward on AMC. He loves Blake unconditionally and I love seeing their father/daughter relationship. I do think the Alex/Alan sibling relationship has weird flirty vibes to it. Alex seems to care too much about his sex life and seems to get jealous at times. They bicker like an old married couple, so it toes the line. She also has a weird obsession over Fletcher and I have no idea why she was even at Fletcher/Holly's wedding since she clearly doesn't support it. So I'm 5+ months in from my original GL watch and I'm still very much enjoying this show. It'll be interesting to see what McTavish brings, good or bad. I know most here don't love this era of GL (), but having never seen the good stuff pre-95, I'm just really enjoying a 'new soap' to watch, which honestly beats the hell out of anything they're airing today (no offense, I watch BTG too, but you really can't beat how good 90s soaps were, sadly).

Married to Medicine
Not their best season, but I love these ladies and already can't wait for them to return. I just love Eugene and Toya. Anyone know why Contessa wasn't in the opening as a main lady this year? She was in the entire reunion (whereas Friends come in halfway through), and she was a lead all season. I thought that was odd.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Agree - I think Bravo and the production companies have gotten a little too soft and concerned in this sad cancel-culture world we live in. I think they're scared, but I wish these reality stars would just realize that if they choose to be on a reality show, then deal with your reality... good, bad and the ugly. I'm team Kenya, but I will say it was kind of awkward to use her own salon opening party as the event to expose Brit like that. Everything she worked for was overshadowed by her stunt. She should have just done it some other place/event instead. I loved Cynthia saying what we all thought on WWHL - that the long-awaited season of Atlanta was ruined by their choice to remove Kenya.

This is great, thanks for sharing! I may just do this - I see it's ~$150 on Amazon. I may just bite the bullet and do it, as I can't imagine Paramount will ever get the rights to stream those missing episodes. Good to know the DVDs have enough of everything that it won't ruin the rewatch.

Beverly Hills, 90210 Discussion Thread
The 90s have my heart and I started a re-watch of 90210 earlier this year. I'm halfway through Season 1, but I realized some episodes from Season 2 are missing on Paramount Plus, where I'm watching it. Anyone know of another streamer or website where I can find all episodes? I read online that some episodes are missing because of some music licensing issues, which is so annoying.

All My Children Tribute Thread
Random thought of the day, but does anyone know the real behind the scenes story of how Di was introduced? They wrote this mysterious "could she be Dixie?" story, but then turned out she wasn't and David coordinated this plot to make people think she was Dixie... but was she meant to be Dixie originally and then something changed and they made her Dixie's half sister instead?

Yep, VI was on AMC through end of Nov 2006 and then he immediately went to Y&R Jan of 2007 (no idea why), and then immediately went back to AMC in 2008. I loved VI on AMC, but I actually enjoy seeing him be a nice guy Nick on GL (not sure if Nick was always nice or not but he's a sweet supporting character in '95, post-Mindy).

You've got a great memory! Just got to July 7th and it's the Holly/Fletcher wedding and Hamp is there playing the wedding entrance music on his sax. Best thing about the wedding haha... well until Roger shows up! Great Friday cliffhanger haha. Oh no! I couldn't resist and read the spoiler since I assume it'll be forever until I get to it haha. But I don't love that they redid everything I'm watching now. Dinah has tried hard to seduce Matt but he has no interest and is staying committed to Vanessa. I see Dinah doesn't change her ways though haha.

Ugh, I'm just about to get to Fletcher and Holly's wedding on my '95 watch, but I'm glad to know he'll be there. I finally noticed that Hamp has a still shot in the ending credits, playing the sax. GL really does have a great theme and his sax version is just so good. I tried finding some renditions on Spotify, but sadly there isn't much out there. I found a great version of the AMC and GH themes from a group called Mount Royal Orchestra, but sadly no GL. LOL at your 'Mom hair' comment. I've thought the same thing about how matronly Vanessa looks right now, especially when paired with hunky Matt. I googled her age when I first started my watch and was surprised to see she was 49-50 years old at the time, and still getting nice love scenes!

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I just watched the BH reunion last night and agree with all your thoughts. I also thought the set and their dressing rooms were SO tacky. Were they in a Super 8? It looked like an 80s outside motel. Last season they adopted the beautiful CGI-style backdrop like OC has had recently, but this year they had tacky plastic fruit, flowers and plants. Where is the glamour of BH?? That was so odd and distracting to me.

Thank you all! Wow, I'm so saddened by the fact that he died so young, and soon after this amazing scene. He was such a talent and that scene makes me wish I had a slow sax/jazz playlist of all the soap themes. I hope I get to know his character more as I continue my watch. It's sad, and typical of most soaps in that time, to not highlight their black characters in the 90s. In the 5 months I've watched GL '95, I've only been introduced to Gilly and Sid maybe 7-8 times, her parents 3-4 times, and Hamp here twice. David has been around in the background a lot with Lucy and Bridgett here and there, played by two different actors. He passed younger than I am now, which always weirds me out when I watch soaps from the 90s. Aside from Lucy, AM, Brent, Bridget, Dinah and David, all these characters still look older than I am today, even though they were the same age or younger than I am today... but its a psychological thing given I was a pre-teen and teen during the 90s, watching AMC daily and OLTL/GH periodically. They looked older then and they always will today.

Question - who is this amazing sax player that plays the GL theme song at the end of this July 4th episode? I've seen him in maybe 2 scene between Feb-June '95, working at the Towers, but curious if he has a backstory and was a main character at some point? Btw, I LOVE the Towers set, so glamorous for the time and I love how everyone dresses up.

WHAT?!? 30 damn years old? LOL - I mean, she looks great for her age, but that's a ridiculous casting choice if she's 30 years old. I agree on Lindstrom - he looks good for 67 and I too want it to appear believable.

LOL I mean, you're not wrong 🤣 But still, would visibly seem more appropriate/realistic than some of the other choices when folks are younger (like Smitty having two high school aged kids... I know Mike M's age would technically allow for it, but he looks so young to me).

Totally agree. I think this show has potential, I really do. I really enjoyed the first two weeks and I do enjoy many of the characters, but these storylines right now are zzzz: anything in the hospital (except Shanice!), the nurse documentary, the sexual harassment lawsuit, the gambling addiction. We didn't get Leslie at all this week nor any movement to her storyline. The previews for next week did look better and I'm excited for the fashion show event, but I sure hope they got more extras in the background than they did for Nicole's award ceremony. If that fashion show only has the Dupree family and Vanessa, I'm going to LOL again.

I agree and I think for me, it's mostly because I don't really KNOW these people involved yet. They need to be established more with character-driven scenes that make me feel for them... and then get into the plot of it all.
