  1. Ohhh yes, these were exciting! What year was this? Another added bonus, watching Tangie lurk around like a thief with that black beanie.😂 I'm happy to hear I'm not alone in my thoughts over Gilly's exit and Vivian's first and likely only contract storyline. It was just a shame. On one hand, I'm glad they decided to finally write for this family (as Gilly was sorely underused in 1995), but then on the other... that was what they decided? Sure, it was a bit soapy, but oh so gross. They could have come up with something better.
  2. Thank you for the great background and summary - very helpful! Yes, very odd they never brought her back, but at least J mentioned her, so not truly forgotten. Ah interesting, I guess I never realized that CBS was a bit more conservative/old-fashioned in a way, at least pre-2000 or so. It's funny, I wrote that about slapping, and then a few episodes later, Vivian storms into the Spaulding mansion and slaps Alan. It's like I spoke it into existence. 😂
  3. Ahh ok, that makes sense. Gosh, I didn't remember Frances passing in 1994. I thought she was with us longer than that. She was such a sweet lady and character. Yes, so good and I'm so happy there is a quality version online. I looked it up and AMC won the Best Directing Emmy for 1994, so I have to assume they submitted these episodes. I'm not sure how to find out to confirm, but would only make sense. I still get chills watching it because I remember it so vividly as a 10 year old. Of course the drama of it all to see what happens to your favorite characters pre-spoiler days, but I grew up in the Midwest so tornadoes were a real, scary thing that. We had monthly tornado drills in school, so this made it seem very real to me. Very impressive. It makes me want to go find and compare the Mardi Gras explosion scenes and their second tornado many years later (although I think I remember that being a lot of CGI perhaps). I don't think I've seen those since they first aired. But for 1994, this was very well-done. Ahh - this was the start of Noah! And so many other great things - I really loved AMC from 91-96.
  4. Yep, another good episode with a powerful and emotional ending! I'm really enjoying learning more about Anita's storyline, as they make small reveals each episode. It's also nice not being spoiled about these reveals! It was nice seeing Leslie interact with Derek/Ashley - keep mixing these characters and building a community, it's great. I had to LOL at Derek and Ashley studying the menu though, these people eat at Orphey Gene's every day, surely they have the menu memorized by now haha. Maybe these girls will finally make Bill figure out his problem.
  5. Thanks for maintaining and posting the stats!
  6. I’m up to August 5, 1996. Another change to the opening music. The hollow whooshing sound is gone and they’ve add a soft rock, synthesizer-style sound to this more upbeat version. Ugh - they let Gilly and Griffin kiss before she found out the truth. So gross, what’s the point? And now once the truth has come out, Charles is like “oh yeah, I’ve always known he was your father, no big deal”? What was all of this for? If he really always knew, he should have had a reaction when Griffin came to town last year, just like Vivian did. I will say, the acting in the reveal scene was amazing, both actresses killed it. Now Vivian lost her husband, who is leaving her, and her daughter… and she already lost her son. The writers really trashed this entire family for nothing, how sad. She’s now running around town blaming everything on Griffin and trashing his name, but lady, no, it’s all your fault! I think I now just got to Gilly’s last episode (Aug 1). She just announced to the family at dinner that she’s leaving town for good and will not reach back out to her mother. What a terrible ending to this character and the family. Finally found a time I liked Alan. Marah (of course) and Shayne sneak away and go wandering on 5th street alone, but Shayne stays back in the abandoned building, just as they’re about to blow it up. Alan is sweet to Marah and realizes Shayne might still be there, so he runs to the building and tries to stop them from detonating the explosives, but he’s too late… he finally has a heart here haha. Although I guess this is still all his fault. Watching Josh and Reva react to Shayne’s voice from within the rubble was really moving, great acting across the board here (Annie too). Ok, so Zachary shows up while everyone runs away from the rubble that’s falling, and he steps into it and finds Shayne. So is he like an angel or something supernatural? Because I don’t love supernatural stuff on my soaps unless that’s ‘normal’ for the show. But Alan does eventually go in with Josh, so he’s risking his life to save Shayne, and that’s great. I was a huge Lucy/A-M fan and loved watching their relationship, but most couples work well when the actors have good chemistry. For me, now that Rick Hearst is gone, the relationship just isn’t working for me, sadly. I feel like Lucy and Zachary have better chemistry now haha. Abby’s mom has returned and she’s just highly frustrating and awful - that’s all. J just mentioned he has a sister - who is that? Unless she’s older and an adult, it’s a bit odd that she’s not around since now both Nola and Quint are in Springfield. She didn’t show at Henry’s funeral either, nor was mentioned. So Roger is now in the loony bin, after losing his court case. I’m side-eyeing Blake on this one. She was completely torn, which was nice to see, but she ultimately sided with Dinah/Hart which annoyed me. But, Bridget continues to win for me - she’s one of my favorites - and she just called out Dinah/Hart on their BS, and I’m here for it. If there were ever a moment for a slap, Dinah deserves one from Bridget. Speaking of slaps, I haven’t seen a single slap in the 18 months I’ve been watching this show! Does GL just not traditionally do slaps? It’s a soap staple that I enjoy haha. Alex continues to be one of my favorites, likely because I’m such a fan of Dusay, her theatrics and heavy breathing. She keeps referring to Amanda as “Little Miss Madame” and it cracks me up. Speaking of Amanda, she now just overheard nurses gossiping that Blake is having twins with two different fathers, so she knows the secret! This should get good now that she’s re-entered Ross/Blake’s orbit. Ah, so the A.Spaulding in question that paid Neil Everest off to frame Phillip was Alan-Michael! Well, Lucy found a check he wrote to Neil, so I’m assuming so… this isn’t that interesting of a storyline though, so hopefully this doesn’t drag on too much longer. Now I just found out that Neil and Alan were cellmates in prison…it keeps going. And finally, Annie just faked a prescription for more pills and she just saw a ‘bad Annie’ image of herself who is encouraging her addiction. Annie is officially talking to herself and since I know Jeva won’t allow a Josh/Annie relationship to survive, I’m all here for crazy Annie! Whoa! Griffin just got shot while giving a speech on 5th Street. Curious to see what happens here, even though I’m not a Griffin fan.
  7. I actually had a Febreeze commercial right after that segment where she sprayed! It was the first commercial in the group.
  8. Today was a great episode - this is the BTG (and soap opera) I love. Comedy, drama, secrets, character growth/exposure, good dialogue, not boring... good stuff!
  9. LOL - I swear, she has the easiest job, just spraying rooms on camera!
  10. Nicole and her damn Febreeze spraying 😅
  11. SAME! This duo/rivalry is so good. Oh snap, what is this secret Sharon has that she just threatened to tell Vernon about??? How juicy. Anita looks scared.
  12. Damn, Anita really did these ladies dirty. I don't blame them for hating on her.
  13. Leslie asking how to get a restraining order for "this" 🤣
  14. That was so funny, that entire scene was great! 😂 Ohh Sharon is bitter and mad.
  15. Mystery man is back - he just ran away big time once Ted showed up, that must mean maybe Ted knows him?
  16. I love the interaction between Leslie and Kat. 😂 Kat is such a gnat to Leslie and she always pays her dust in funny ways.
  17. Ugh, that's awful! I wonder if the character was featured in the new season.
  18. I just found the commercial on YouTube, with several other GL'ers doing the same commercial - how fun! She did the same for me once Ghost Reva arrived (the anxiety and paranoia) - which is when the storyline for Rick/Annie started, with their Chicago past and her alcoholism. But before all that, when she was new and tending to Josh's broken leg, she was just normal, sweet and very cute/flirty.
  19. I watch many episodes from the Vault, a secret source here on SON, because the quality is much better than YouTube. But, it has commercials that I have to skip through, although even these commercials give me serious nostalgia vibes. All that said, there is a consistent 1996 commercial for Excedrin with Frank Beatty! He talks right into the camera about his feelings, and it's like Brent Lawrence never left. I wonder if GL fans back in the day ever saw this and had feelings about it.
  20. Ok I just bought Kim's book on Amazon... should be an interesting read.
  21. Before I met Reva, I really did enjoy Josh and Annie. The beginning of their relationship was really cute, the flirting and chemistry was there. I was fully into it, but then I learned who Jeva was and realized it couldn't sustain. I just read a few interviews that Kim gave online, and it's pretty clear she loves her wine, which I love. I'm a wine guy too, so I'm not surprised she had to have a little here and there to get through some things.
  22. Haha, I get it. I was too old when Halloweentown was popular with the kids, but I did go back and watch the first two about 6-7 years ago and actually thought Marnie was a likable lead and she was pretty good, for a movie like that. But now watching GL and seeing her as a young child, I totally get what you're saying. She's annoying haha.
  23. Isn't that funny how certain memories as young children stick with you through life... Haha I totally get what you mean. That's how I felt with GL in the beginning, but then I got used to it. Seeing so many of my favorite AMC characters on GL was wild - Walker, Irizarry, Dusay, Budig, Aleksander, Marshall, Gil Rogers, etc. Ironically, it helps that Irizarry and Dusay played both mother/son in both shows. I know Marcy Walker was wasted on GL as Tangie, but selfishly I'm so glad she was. When she left GL and returned immediately to AMC as Liza Colby, man was it such a great storyline. The Tad/Dixie/Liza triangle was so emotional, tense and memorable. The AMC fans got lucky with that one. WRCW, Tad/Liza working together, the affair, then Jason Sheffield and the shooting on-set... all amazing stuff. LOL!
  24. Totally agree - we have much to learn about Vernon, and I'd love to see it.
  25. That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
