I'm up to August 24, 1995. Tangie just left with a whimper, only getting a quick goodbye to Roger - how sad. I googled when Marcy went back to AMC and it was only weeks after her last episode on GL (Sep '95). Makes me wonder how long the switch was in the works for behind the scenes. As a young teen, I'll never forget when Marcy came back to AMC as Liza and my mother screamed at the TV in shock haha. Holly, thinking she was starting menopause, just found out she's pregnant with Fletcher's baby - gag. I'm enjoying Nola so far. She and Bridgett look very similar, it's uncanny. Frank just joined the police academy and that's cute so far haha. Gilly just broke up with Sid because she found out he knew about her getting fired from the LA job at the hands of Alan, whom he just defended at the big trial. She doesn't trust Sid and I'm not sure where this will go, but it's sad to see Gilly upset. Aside from Reva's Amish return (so far so dumb) and the never-ending Dinah story which I strangely haven't gotten tired of yet, the other big story is the one that made me start this journey in the first place. Marian has finally arrived and immediately got a job back at Spaulding. It's creepy which I love, but logistically I have so many questions haha. I'm going to suspend my disbelief, but its hard to imagine that Brent, the straight, handsome f*ckboy, thought the best way to get revenge on the Cooper's is to dress as an old lady. I'm assuming his sister is still involved and has helped him, otherwise I don't really get how he knows what to do to make this happen. It's also a little strange that while he's alone and undressing/dressing, he's sometimes turns gay (how I would perceive it) in the way he prances around and talks in the mirror. I wouldn't think a straight dude dressing as a woman would continue the facade while alone. I can't imagine daily having to put on the fake glued on mask that doesn't seem reusable considering it falls apart as he takes it off. It seems like a creepy, younger Mrs. Doubtfire lookalike situation, which fits considering that movie came out in the early 90s. I'm still enjoying it though and it keeps me engaged, and I have to remind myself it's the 90s. Speaking of the 90s, the other aspect to this storyline is Lucy's HIV scare. It's a little cringe how dire and doom and gloom everyone is treating it. "Lucy you can DIE, Lucy you can KILL people if you're not tested". Everyone is scared to touch her or share food/drinks with her. I find it so odd that employers have asked and refused Susan jobs because she's HIV positive. There is no way they can ask that question these days, and I don't even know if they really could back then. But again, I know this is the 90s and I understand the HIV/AIDS sentiment back then, but it just doesn't age well. I'm still enjoying my GL watch, but all the character coming/goings the past few months has been a little jarring, but I guess that happens with a new EP and new HW.

I really like Alan-Michael too. I'm in August 1995 right now and Susan Bates arrived, and Nick/Susan/AM/Lucy are starting to pal around now. During this time, Nick has purposefully called AM 'Michael' twice now, and each time AM asks him why he's doing it, and Nick said he shouldn't be reminded of his horrible father by using Alan. AM reluctantly agrees and says Nick can keep calling him Michael... we'll see how long this lasts, but sounds like it gets dropped if AM continued to be AM for y'all

ALL: Best character FEUDS
AMC - I would say Erica/Brooke for sure, but Erica's feud with Barbera was great. Anyone remember this epic Erica Kane slap when Barbara returned many years later? Talk about TKO! And for good measure, a good Brooke slap to Erica at the 6:18 mark. Erica: "I should have you arrested!" Brooke: "There's the phone. 911" 🤣

Haha love to hear it! Have you gotten to Meredith's bar mitzvah? That is one of my all-time favorite Mary moments 🤣 Bronwyn humbled Heather a little, or at least made Heather realize that she can't bulldoze or control newbies. Brownwyn was a strong first year housewife. Heather barked a little, but I thought she ended up being a non-factor by end of the season. I felt like Heather and Whitney took that much-needed backseat this season to make me be ok to see them again next season, if that makes sense.

This is awesome - I sure hope other soaps will become available like this in a similar manner!!! And even better, a pay option to remove ads on a monthly basis or something.

Yeeeeah, today was the first time I wasn't feeling Anita. It's clear they've been cleaning up their kids' messes for years, allowing no consequences for their poor behaviors. I don't love that. Otherwise, still a great week so far. Looking forward to tomorrow!

At this rate, I plan to keep watching at least through a part of '96. I started this journey with the goal that I would at least watch through Frank Beatty's official exit from the show, because realistically I can't do this until 2009. If there is a point in '96 where it just isn't keeping my interest anymore, I may consider going back to late 80s/early 90s for a bit. We'll see!

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Agree 100%! It was too obvious in the beginning, especially Angie's scroll (which was still kinda fun), but it smooths out quickly and its one of their best seasons. I think the last two seasons of SLC have been fire. Enjoy it - tell us your thoughts along the way!

LOL at the bolded part. That's interesting, Lillian has brought up a few times her breast cancer scare, but she's definitely just been a very background/support character in 1995. She doesn't seem to have any family on the scene, nor connected to any characters outside of just being a friendly nurse that everyone seems to know. Skunk was this "bad boy" biker guy that Bridgett met and started dating briefly. She started staying out late and was hiding the fact that she had Peter from him. Matt and David gave her a hard time for becoming a reckless mom, and one night she didn't get home until the next morning after partying all night, and that's when Peter was 'missing' and no one could find him. Dinah was about to allow Viktor to kidnap him, but chose to save Peter and allow herself to be kidnapped instead. But then very quickly after that, Skunk left town and the story just dropped out of nowhere. I noticed a handful of stories like that sort of just dropped out of nowhere - Skunk/Bridgett, Mindy/Cutter romantic pairing and his computer training, Carroll/Nadine...

Thanks! And some local Santa Barbara news as an add-on! The quality of these episodes is so good. There was nuNatalie, I see. Man, I haven't seen an episode with her in so many years. While I was always team Tad/Dixie and really loved Tad's return, I remember still liking Brian Bodine because of the Hayley/Brian pairing with the first actor. This second actor was good too, but some of Brian's bad boy persona got lost.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
The only bright spot on last night's BH was Andy finally pushing Kyle more about Morgan. You could tell he agreed with Garcelle a bit and was trying to push her... but unfortunately it went nowhere and she eventually just skated by. Oh and Jennifer Tilley's snacking during the Dorit/Sutton exchange at the end LOL. Dorit was baiting Sutton so hard and finally got her to react.

Mid-August '95: So 3 new characters have popped up, making 5 within a single week with Nola and Hawk. We have Susan Bates, who is HIV+ and just got a job at Spaulding; Abby with Reva in Goshen; and then Marcus arrived as Dinah's best friend from Paris. He seems fun and is a new dynamic/companion needed at this point in Dinah's storyline. I don't know if this is a new EP decision or new HW McTavish's, but 5 new characters brought in and we also lost 4 all within ~2 months: Eve, Mindy, Skunk, Carroll. That is some wild turnover in a short period of time.

Ahh - thank you! I didn't realize Sean was only a blip in GL history. Nola's second episode had really nice scenes with Henry and she admitted that she and Quint are separated and he is now with a 23-year old. I've noticed that GL likes to pair people with big age gaps haha. Wow - so Ed and Lillian were sleeping together? And this was his third affair? Ed was a dog! He and Lillian seem like really sweet people in 1995, and good friends at the hospital. I'm guessing Lillian may not have been popular in Springfield or with the fans if she helped drive Mo to her death.

Yep, SLC is one of few, if not the only, that films right away after their reunion. I read they do this because they want to be able to film in the winter with snow and keep that aesthetic season over season. Also, Meredith and maybe another housewife only rents and lives in SLC during the winter.

LOL - I sort of expected this and as long as she plays natural crazy and not fake crazy, I'm all in!

I'm up to August 8, 1995 and two legacy characters have made their return! How exciting, I wasn't expecting this. 1. Hawk is back and I've figured out he's Reva's father, but more importably, it's Gil Rogers! What a pleasant surprise, as I loved him on AMC as Ray Gardner. I can see him being Reva's father too, given their personalities. Speaking of Reva, her Goshen Amish storyline started a week or so ago and it's so ridiculously campy. There are so many scenes of her bathing and washing herself, VERY slowly and weirdly erotically I may add for an Amish setting. The bowl of water she uses is making her have flashbacks to her "death" and drowning. I don't really get why water now, after 5 years, is triggering flashbacks, but whatever. Her slow Amish accent is LOL too, so ridiculous. On his way to find Brent Lawrence's sister in Gary, IN, I find it very strange/convenient that Buzz happened to break down right in Goshen at Reva's little cabin. Out of all the houses he could stumble upon in all of IL and IN, he finds Reva's door. 😂 2. Nola! I've seen mentions of Nola on this thread lately and she just showed up to the boarding house today. She's interacting with Bridgett and just met Peter, and isn't too happy to hear that Vanessa is co-mother. Bridgett asked how Quint is, which is another name I've seen here lately, and Nola mentioned he's out hunting with the kids. So Nola is Bridgett and Matt's aunt and Sean and Maureen's sister, right? It's a bit odd they didn't bring Sean and Nola back together, but they brought Sean on first for a couple months and now Nola after he already left. Were the siblings close at all? Is Quint tied to any established family or current characters? I just got through Alan's court trial over his involvement in the Brent Lawrence/Spaulding Enterprises 'cook the books and try to get Alan-Michael booted' scheme. Which btw, it was very icky that Alan and Alex barely cared about Lucy being raped and was willing to protect and pay off Brent to get what they wanted. Anyway, the judge left him off (weird), but that entire storyline emphasized just how weird Alex/Alan's relationship is. She is so obsessive and dependent on his attention, and borderline wants Alan to be single and hers forever. There was a dream sequence where Alex played lawyer, judge, and bailiff, grilling Tangie on the stand, and while Marj did a great job with the material, it was just weird because she was so upset that Tangie and Alan were together.

A fun, light episode - a contrast to yesterday - and nowhere near dull. Lots of much-needed new character interactions. This is shaping up to be a great week of BTG!

100% agree - we need more of these to help establish the family dynamics/relationships and allow us to care about them.

MTV: RuPaul's Drag Race
That bolded part! Toot was good at what she was good at, but it was a little too one-note. She had a couple good weeks in the middle where she branched out, but that's it. Her confidence was cute in the beginning, but it became too much as the season kept going, especially in the Untucked episodes. Unfortunately Sam Starr is just as bad and I can't wait for him to grow up a little more and mature a bit. Once he's grounded, he'll really be a great drag queen. But you're right, I could see him getting it slightly over Onya. OR, Onya gets it and Sam grows up a bit and comes to All-Stars in a couple years and wins. True about Jewels - total consolidation prize, which she deserves and I'm happy to see. I think for Lexi, the experience and affirmation is what she'll get out of it, which is exactly what she needed to feel accepted and whole.
