James Toback's The Gambler (the original with James Caan, not the remake) is an incredible film. That being said these stories do not entirely surprise me, based on some of the films he's made in the last twenty years. Just vile.
Terri Conn (ATWT, OLTL) is among the women who have come forward to accuse writer-director James Toback of sexual harassment.
I think all the random ad/TV clips interspersed with new footage are just there to be indicative of the timeframe (1984, IIRC). But who knows? I do know the vintage video game ad (Dig Dug) has relevance.
