  1. This Caliphate thing keeps growing and growing, just like the drip-drip of the Capitol siege reveal (which is why Mitch slow-walking the impeachment for two weeks was IMO a mistake for the GOP - that story will keep getting bigger). I would love to see it result in real damage like the Cotton affair, only this time towards Dean Baquet.
  2. I remember when they began running these walking the dog ads with Warnock - I think I saw one literally the day after the election. People pooh-poohed Warnock's chances then, but I thought those ads, showing him as just another American walking his little dog, were strong and would make an impact. I was more right than I knew.
  3. That clip was great. Wonder if that was when they were still chem-testing her and Trucker. I assumed Agnes ordered the Hubbards brought in in her executive capacity and shepherded her return as HW, but I guess she only moved her to Charles (who was also new) and Trucker back to Dinah when she took over again as HW from Guza and Taggert?
  4. Pretty sure it was COVID. I don't know why they don't say so.
  5. They are being excoriated for that one at Tom Cotton levels. Shameful.
  6. Almost never, certainly in the modern age (90s-onward). And I think the only reason it mostly worked with Jacob on Loving/The City is because the show seemingly barely leaned into making him different from Jesse at all. They just let Darnell Williams and Debbi Morgan loose and played ball. They also wove in the Jesse connection very strongly from Day 1 in story, as opposed to Amanda doing... whatever.
  7. LOL, fùck Shafer. When the GOP wins the Beltway loves to run gushing pieces about how the savvy Republicans are gonna go hogwild and celebrate for years. The Dems are more than welcome to celebrate.
  8. Loath as I am to post Michael Fairman, this interview with Cady and Rob Wilson has them discussing the PP revival. And you know how obsessed I was with it, so voila:
  9. From the A.V. Club, a few years ago (apologies if posted):
  10. Michael Shear from the NYT is upset the new administration has not offered the GOP a "figleaf":
  11. It's important to note that Politico and many other Beltway outlets always make a point of talking to centrist or Blue Dog Dems and prioritizing their voices in a relative minority to suggest they are the prevailing winds in the party and should be listened to first, to give the Republicans primacy at all times. It's certainly possible, but I don't buy it this time. Often Politico stories about Dems go searching for the Blue Dog needle in the haystack and then blow it up in headlines or language to make the statement seem bigger than it is, but when you look at the details they don't hold up. Meanwhile:
  12. Zeke Miller, who never heard a Trump Admin line he couldn't uncritically parrot while being held in semi-open contempt by many of the WH Press Corps, tries and fails to play gotcha:
  13. No one seems to be falling for the Mitch spin this time. I have no idea if we'll nuke the filibuster (I doubt it atm), but as to the larger agreement Schumer's office is holding pretty firm on not budging to what McConnell wants as terms for power sharing (despite the cries of Rose Twitter who don't understand how that works, and are irrelevant). Meanwhile:
