YR: You're Fired! Actor out ...
Abby's character has no meaning or discernable character core other than 'stupid blonde.' Ordway is not capable of being a lead and has had endless failed stories. She should be written out for a minimum of five years. Just being Victor and Ashley's daughter is not an excuse anymore.

New poster: And a nice edit of it: Anyone who hasn't seen Elizabeth Olsen's non-MCU work should - she is fascinating and terrifying in Martha Marcy May Marlene. I knew she'd kill this stuff while they finally got to this side of Wanda, a character I have always found both spellbinding and frightening since I was a child. And Teyonah Parris is still amazing, just like she's been since I first saw her in Dear White People. (She is in the new Candyman revival this year as well - the director of that will also be doing Captain Marvel 2, which Parris will co-star in as Monica.)- Melrose Place
Someday, when they put Knots Landing up on streaming, I'll give it a real shot. It remains the undiscovered country for me but so many people I respect view it as the gold standard for classic primetime soap. I agree. It could've worked.- The Politics Thread

The longer Greene is on stage and dividing them or disgracing them in the eyes of lazy swing voters (which this election proved still exist), the worse it is for the GOP. She is an albatross for them electorally despite being a sweetheart for their base. I wouldn't freak out over a supposed proposal for a threshold anymore than I did over Manchin and Sinema two weeks ago. I don't think they're going to limit them beyond the wealthy, which I don't think will have a major impact politically, and I think those who need it and who are paying attn will get the checks.- The Politics Thread
You can still make the messaging about Qanon and strike that dumb line which is already getting a lot of heat. So I suspect they will do so. Meanwhile, GOP in Disarray:- Melrose Place
I liked Eve, but only insofar as I was waiting for her to fully turn on Amanda and go nuts. IMO it took a little too long, lol. Megan worked in Season 7 despite some boring stories with Ryan. I love Kelly Rutherford but most of Megan's stories sucked.- The Politics Thread

I think Richard was also intended to be a full regular - they had Muldoon in the Season 4 promo shots - but his lack of talent ran the character aground and ended that. But we've discussed that in this thread a while back. I don't dog Season 4 as much as other people. Yes, later it went off the rails but the first half of the year I think was pretty good.- The Politics Thread

I remember rumors of a BTS conflict cutting Sabato's run super short as Jack. I think Bobby and Brooke were intended to be long-term by Starr, but weren't. Their exits were great fun but there was wasted potential.- The Politics Thread

Was that the case when Robin Strasser was in the role?- Days: February 2021 Discussion Thread
I'll watch today for Linda Dano. I could barely stand Rae on OLTL but Dano is a treasure. I have no idea what's going on with Sorel but I'm pleased to see LD getting back out there, and I like the hair.- The Politics Thread

Barbara Crampton is a major horror star again these days - and not just cheap schlock, but fairly well-received stuff with some real cred (like You're Next and Channel Zero). She was a guest on Joe Bob Briggs' Last Drive-In, the return of his weekly horror movie double feature on Shudder, last year and did discuss her time on Y&R. She's referenced it often and has nothing against it. She still looks amazing. I'd kill to have her do a guest bit on a good soap, not that any exist atm.- Melrose Place
I'll just quote what I said long ago about Season 5: A lot of the slow build stories of the season worked for me, but I can imagine they were somnolent for people used to the high madness of late Season 3 and much of Season 4. The Jane wrapup stuff (including her briefly becoming a stalker) was a mess. And the Megan/Michael/Kimberly story didn't work, period. Losing Kimberly and Sydney was a huge mistake, especially when they'd against all odds managed to make Syd's romance with Craig work - Craig was a loser character til they linked them up at the last minute. I always loved Alison, but I don't agree about her being the central heroine. I don't think she was the singular heart of the show at any point past maybe Season 2 (which had many hearts, especially going fwd into Season 3 with Jo's baby drama). I think the show had many heroes and heroines, I don't think Alison held a higher space after the first two seasons or so. I think Amanda was the central protagonist of the show going from about early or mid-Season 3 onward. An antiheroine in some ways, yes, but she became the central axis - and it worked. Alison's role shifted the most because they stupidly paired her up with Jake, something the actors allegedly asked for and which destroyed both their standing on the show. In the brief periods when Alison would go back to work at D&D or interact with Billy or Amanda in S5, the character came to life all over again.- The Politics Thread
