  1. Politico (via archive.is) has a piece on what allegedly went down re: Biden's decision. Bear in mind, it's Politico.
  2. Ironically, it's the Beltway elite media trying their best to shore up sagging GOP hopes atm - guys like Jonathan Martin and Nuzzi complaining that it's unfair to the Dem voters(??) or that Project 2025 is boring.
  3. Stephen Miller is taking it well. I suspect this vibe is rampant in Trumpworld. They're not prepped. Sure I can!
  4. The money and endorsements are flooding in, so it's nice to see the party finally locking in. Manchin's bid will go nowhere.
  5. Whitmer and Newsom have indicated they have no intention to run. This will likely lock up quickly, thankfully.
  6. It's not going to happen. And if they don't endorse fast, they'll be disappointing many people.
  7. The issue is that he doesn't have enough of that support. He hasn't since 2016, it keeps bleeding off. Can he muster enough back to beat a Black woman is the question. That I don't know. I think we have even odds but I agree it's going to be a harder push than it would've a month ago. I also frankly think Trump is unprepared to run against Kamala.
  8. He was the strongest in 2016. Trump in 2024 is not the same. I saw that man at the RNC the other night. Kamala Harris couldn't have beaten him in 2016, and probably not in 2020. She can now.
  9. Time Magazine:
  10. With all due respect, lady, I've seen your terrible skills at predicting imaginary fanfic soap opera storylines for characters you despise and I'll pass. Thanks for stopping by the Politics Thread.
  11. Neither Obama nor Pelosi's statements endorse Harris, which disappoints me.
  12. This is going to be a hard fight, but as I said the other night: I saw Trump 2024 on that stage the other night. I defy anyone to tell me that man, not the man from eight or even four years ago, can't be beaten by Kamala Harris. It can happen. But it will require the whole Party. Not people leaking to Politico and Semafor every hour on the hour.
  13. Essential that he do this, and I'm very glad he did. How Joe has been treated was shameful, disgusting and unnecessary, and it will likely be a dark story covered extensively in the days and years to come. But I'm just glad the public shivving is over.
  14. Many of us do not have the luxury of dying, so all due respect to Aaron Sorkin's deranged op-ed, it's time for the party to get behind Kamala.
  15. Yes, I think that's a lot of people's opinions then and now. I remember some of it, it was when I was gripped by the show too.
  16. I really loved the style and filming technique of The City both then and now. I think the attitude was right and the locale, even the found family aspect. I liked a lot of the cast. But the stories were not there and that was a key issue. I think narratively they were caught in a weird limbo between trying to emulate an era of then-contemporary primetime urban drama (and a period where the bohemian mystique of '90s NYC was at a new height) that often could operate on style and vibes over straight narrative at night vs. just being a conventional soap opera. And they were not equipped with a creative staff that could straddle that divide well.
  17. Wow. I don't remember anything about Gillian being positioned towards Tad or Edmund. Who wrote that? Didn't Megan come back in with Camille Hawkins for Tad?
  18. I had no idea Esta had such a rough start. I'd like to hear more about that and what it entailed story-wise. I just remember being enchanted with her when I drifted back to the show - her look and mannerisms were so much like Bjórk, a favorite of mine then and now. I'll always wonder what went down with her appearance at the end of the network run in 2011. After such hype about her return she only appeared for a couple mins with almost no dialogue, whereas I believe she, Josh Duhamel and others (maybe Alexa Havins) may have filmed more for the original non-cliffhanger ending. Was she intended to get a resurrection of Gillian and HEA with Ryan just like I think Leo and Greenlee were?
  19. IMO this is where the online left come in and are not as big a factor as they pretend to be, where in that very small world Mayor Pete is a CIA asset and the Great Satan. I think a lot of people IRL do like him (more than Kamala at times tbh), but I just don't think you can put a gay man over yet in this climate.
  20. Josh Kelly gushes about Jane Elliot.
  21. Any other year or era than right now, Pete would be a great VP pick for Harris.
  22. Very sad if true. AMC fans never forgot her.
