  1. IIRC he did, I've seen that one. I just don't know the date for ATWT. Thank you!
  2. He's right though, because I think he's talking about something different. They fúcked up hardcore over the last year, and I'd rather somehow acknowledge it than have Schumer continue sitting around rubberstamping Trump and pretending everything's fine and that the norms will hold if we all just vote through his budget. Booker admitting the Senate Dems in particular have failed to meet the moment with any real urgency beats them all whining on background to Politico or Axios about Biden or Harris or minorities and how fúcked they are for being liberal. That's the kind of internalized contempt that really irks me.
  3. I'd very much like to see that speech. Couldn't find it at a cursory search of 2001. And it goes back to where I felt GH and other shows terribly dropped the ball not addressing real life during the active phase of the pandemic. That is part of the social contract that daytime in particular has with its audience. Agnes Nixon would've done it. (And Emmerdale in the UK did it very well)
  4. Molly is a spent character who needs a long break and rethink (and has needed to go since long before HP's exit, for the record). The current performer has no intense romantic chemistry with anyone despite their copious tests and I do not find her compelling solo. Yes, fine, give the nice substitute a medal for coming into an impossible situation and doing a good job with dramatic material. It doesn't mean we give her a multi-year contract to add to all the other useless characters on multi-year contracts doing nothing on this show. This is not called All the Actors Are My Best Friends Hospital. Cody I'd still put with Tracy, but if that's not going to happen I'm tempted to just write him out too sadly. It's too bad because I think JK is doing good work despite the recent ridiculous turn with the character.
  5. Exactly. It was business and as even Megan McTavish noted in her memoir, Agnes was a consummate, laser-focused businesswoman.
  6. IIRC Ava was a Dena Higley pet character (not unlike Gabi, I think). She brought her in and then just kept bringing her back when others would write her out. I think the only reason she stayed on post-Higley was people there realizing hey, we have Tamara Braun.
  7. I thought they first started doing this near the anniversary in 2013. I didn't like it then either.
  8. Chamberlain and Kilmer are both huge blows. I'm so glad Chamberlain got one last turn in Twin Peaks Season 3, and that Kilmer knew how much he was valued in his time - not just in his cameo in Top Gun: Maverick, but for so much of his works. I grew up with him in Willow, among other things like Heat. I highly recommend seeing Kilmer in Shane Black's Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, probably his last great performance opposite Robert Downey Jr. just pre-Iron Man.
  9. Robo-Andre is hotter. Sorry.
  10. I honestly found the scenes of Georgie clobbering and bullying her unintentionally hilarious - pure ham from both actors and a good representation of what JFP quickly brought to the show. But yes, Rachel was treated horribly after Ellen Bethea left, and it stayed that way til Bethea fortunately came back (and then Daphnee Duplaix took over too briefly in 2009). And I do think it was racist for several years running.
  11. The GOP has won the FL special election by a much, much tighter margin than they went for Trump. That's good news for down the road, but it doesn't cut to the heart of the issue which is that just winning a couple future cycles is not going to be enough to undo what is being done to the country, not just institutionally but in the information space and how it's poisoned voters. That work will take a massive new media investment by Dems and seriously constraining the tech oligarchs. And it will be a generational project most of us will probably not see the final or full result of in our lifetimes. But hopefully someone will get started.
  12. Don't rain on his parade.
  13. Dani Dupree does not need to go work at the country club, lol. This is not the summer beach season on Saved by the Bell. Only way Dani gets that kind of job is if she ends up killing or seriously harming people with her drinking and ends up doing public service. Which is possible! Dani is a hot mess of a character, but that is good soap. And I'm sure she can be humbled in many ways. But I'm more interested in her next chapter, which should be bigger and bolder given her career history.
  14. Awfully important, especially on the heels of today's horrific news about the CDC/FDA.
  15. She doesn't need to be doing service jobs. That's not the character. I'm not suggesting she try modeling again in her 40s, but she is a power player, not her sister. So what? That's good soap.
  16. Dani is too big a personality and too much of a power player in her rich family to just go work at the country club.
  17. Beverlee McKinsey has been dead for ages. None of us know her mind. What we do know is on the record, most notably her historic dragging of JFP which has lived in infamy for decades. I highly doubt McKinsey regretted a word of what she said about JFP or how it was taken. As for people's opinions of Alex v. Iris, those subjective takes are valid and don't need to be cleared with anyone else.
  18. I thought she was unbearable, but that's just me.
  19. Another hot take: I do not need LGBT actors (like Arielle Prepetit) to all play gay, but Jacob and Hayley have heat and Jacob and Naomi are weak. Further the tough energy Naomi has brought opposite her father is the first time I've been interested in her. Let Naomi lez out and let Hayley get it on with her ex. In BTG tradition, it will return next week 25 years old. It's an Irna Phillips callback.
  20. I will tune in for today's show, but I shouldn't have to only come back for special events and dead veterans.
  21. I'm aware of that, but none of us were privy to that until today.
  22. Claybon was improving last week in fits and starts. Hope it continues today. I'll do my 1 month report card in this thread in a day or two. Hot take: If we need to add more Spicy Whites to offset the somnambulant Ashley and Derek, why not the newly-free
  23. Genie is right that she doesn't have nearly enough scenes with JJ.
  24. It's those veterans that keep me coming back and that history. I am not watching much at present but I wish they were given half the creative energy they deserve and put out.
