  1. Yep. And it's amazing to read people still think there's some political agenda behind it all (I shared my worry before finally realizing it wouldn't be Roseanne shouting about Trump for 9 episodes). It felt natural with Jackie and Roseanne at odds over the election and I thought they handled it very well. If those awful people who like to comment on articles and on Twitter actually watched the episodes they wouldn't be beating the same drum and writing it off as trying to normalize Trump, etc. I get so fired up reading stupid comments on Twitter and blog articles. I usually don't for that reason, people sound so insane sometimes .... I'm very torn on Roseanne as a person but the quality is there in the show and I think deep down she knows Trump is a hot mess, to say the least, but I think she also likes to push people's buttons. I do believe she supports him, I don't think it's an act. I think she ultimately, deep down, means well as a human being. But she says a lot of whacko stuff .... but to be fair, ABC knew what they were signing up for by hiring her. Believe it or not, Roseanne has mellowed but man she goes to extremes sometimes.
  2. Completely agreed. But who knows? lol. I posed the question because I didn't see it doing nearly as well. I even question if it will do as well as Will and Grace. Murphy has NEVER done well in syndication. Networks have tried and failed. W&G struggled a bit in syndication though, Roseanne is far more broad reaching than W&G and MB too. There's definitely a hunger being untapped. I agree it doesn't seem to fit at all into CBS at the moment. Especially with it so laden with male driven shows. Meanwhile, all these talks of reboots and people (by people I mean the media and bloggers) aren't bringing up Family Matters ... they're all willing and able. I'm surprised FOX isn't all over Queen Latifah (she can do both Star and Living Single) and Martin for reboots of Living Single and Martin. And Married with Children. FOX could use a reboot in the sitcom department, all of their niche shows will never reach the audience they want them to. Modern Family's not lasting much longer and Superior Donuts will be lucky to get another season ... Home Improvement too, unless Tim's still rightfully pissed at ABC for cancelling Last Man Standing (which was a massive mistake and for me had nothing to do with politics, it was Channing trying to pacify Disney by keeping OUAT and Shield around and Friday was the best spot) You just know NBC wished Seinfeld's cast would reunite. No one should expect FRIENDS. The cast is still desperate to break free from it. I don't see the big deal in "going back" but I don't think it's time for either of them, TBH. I think both could be relevant though. Not that I'm necessarily dying for either of them. I don't think FRIENDS has been off long enough yet. Seinfeld is reaching that 20 year mark (since the shows went off the air) that Roseanne, Murphy and others have reached ....
  3. True. Look how far Will and Grace sunk. It's slightly better than the rest of the lineup now. But it's already renewed for two seasons lol. I don't think ABC's gonna give up Roseanne. It has a broader appeal than Will & Grace, so at, the "very worst" (which isn't bad by today's standards) I imagine it would likely get a bit above what Goldbergs, The Middle and Last Man Standing used to average. But I'd love to see it get consistently high ratings. In the 5.0's? Probably not gonna keep up but who knows? I wonder what Murphy Brown will pull?
  4. I'm so happy it rose in the second half hour. I don't think those are realistic for 7 more episodes but who knows? Will be interesting to see what happens.
  5. I'd agree with the comparison to Seasons 7-8.
  6. I'm pretty sure Becky finished high school too. That was an odd line I thought. I didn't find Jackie's Barney Fife impression as bad as it was towards the end of the show. But yeah a lot of it was there. I thought it was toned down some and some moments worked well. But I'll see how they handle it going forward. I don't want her to be a caricature like she became. I do like the gag of her life coach career. She's always amplified herself in her job and been over the top about it.
  7. O.M.G. YES! Perfect comparison! Ames is a great, great find. The actress playing Harris seems fine but hasn't had a lot to do yet, which is also fine. (I've not watched Shameless so I have no idea how she is but she seems perfectly cast and talented)
  8. yassssssss! SO HAPPY about the ratings! Also glad it grew in the second episode, I was hoping it didn't dip. Good news!
  9. +1 on Lecy's Becky. All true. I love her. You summed it up well. I don't think she'll be a gag (Sarah's Becky became the joke, when Lecy returned in Season 8 they had Becky unhappy living in a trailer and that she married too young and wanted more for her life, it was stark and obvious, but not that Lecy's Becky had a ton to do beyond that though, but the writing improved). She had some fun lines and was more prominent in the first two episodes than I expected. It was still Darlene/Roseanne centered but Becky had some good stuff. I hope it keeps up.
  10. And Fishman wasn't even in the second episode. LOL He was alright. I always preferred first Becky over Sarah. Sarah was AWFUL at first. LOL. She was NOT Becky. Lecy's Becky was always selfish. She jumped into things without thinking and was ridiculously stubborn. That hasn't changed. Sarah's Becky was a pathetic weak bimbo who stood there and took Darlene's crap and had no goals for her life. Sarah did great as Andrea though. I liked how 'proper' she was. "Jaqueline" lmao .... I thought they handled the maturity well with Darlene but still giving her the savage lines she used to dish out. Darlene being the responsible one shouldn't be a surprise, she was always the 'smartest' so to speak. I was worried most about her (Sara) but Darlene was still in there, so I was happy. I LOL'd at the gay daughter jokes. And that View interview was hella awkward, lol. It doesn't help Whoopi can't seem to see the teleprompter and most of the time doesn't care about it or laughs at the stupid questions she has to ask. I think she'd rather just talk to the guests than read a teleprompter. But it all came off as unprofessional. Usually I like the off-the-cuff awkward stuff but it came off bad. I bet nerves played a part (it was just a lot of nervous awkwardness). Probably wasn't sure how it would go because of Roseanne's hardcore Trump loving rhetoric. But I'm glad that wasn't really talked about, she doesn't need to be bombarded in interviews. Sara Gilbert looked pressed for a lot of it (again, it seemed like awkward nervousness between all of them) and didn't seem like she wanted to be there, JMO. Even though she handled the questions great. John just joked around. Roseanne always seems a bit drugged up now (which is expected, she has bad knee pain).
  11. I loved it. Really enjoyed it. So many hilarious moments and it really captured the old feel of the show. It was just natural. It made sense. The Jackie/Roseanne political fight was funny and not overly pushy. Their makeup was classic Jackie/Roseanne makeup. Jackie's "JOURNEYS" was hilarious. Laurie was fabulous and isn't playing a cartoon, so that's a relief. Sara was great. The characters all felt in character to me. Kind of strange to see it in HD but I loved it. Oh and even though the name wasn't mentioned I liked they used Miss Crane as Mark's teacher, I liked the nods to Jackie's time on the force, I like that they had DJ marry the black girl he wouldn't kiss (Gina). I'm hopeful we get more seasons.
  12. What are they talking about?
  13. Oh. Of course. I've never got the appeal. They'd probably have to get rid of his clone first.
  14. Haven't watched in quite a while, but I always feel like the show often kills off the wrong person, lol. Amy, Neeta and Frankie .... sigh. I'm still annoyed they killed off Jade and that happened how long ago? lol. That's about when I started to tune out. I go through phases watching. It grabs me for a while then I get annoyed with a decision and the turn in stories and move on for a while and then come back ...
  15. I haven't watched in a long time at this point, but I'm glad Kat's returning alone. I never cared for Alfie.
  16. Looking around The Internet, Mark's teacher is indeed named Miss Crane. Judy Prescott is playing her. I've no idea if that is the original woman or not. But the similarity is great if it isn't and I love the teacher is again Miss Crane. She'd have been teaching for over 30 years at this point, lol. So we'll see how they handle it.
  17. I feel like they've jumped back onto that celebrity bandwagon to a certain degree. It's worked better than in the past, I suppose. At least I don't feel like the characters are total cartoons like the last few seasons of the original show.
  18. Very much agreed it's suffered creatively, a shorter season would have been better. The break didn't help and even I've struggled a bit to get back into watching it. The momentum gets lost in all these breaks and half of the time you'd never know a new episode was on if the DVR didn't record it. For me and the Trump thing I couldn't agree more. I stopped watching a lot of news, I'm so sick of hearing about him. But I found the episode where they joked about him hilarious. Believe me, I'm sick of Trump TV 24/7 too, but I still thought it was funny and they kind of needed to deal with it, IMHO. But I can also see why it may have turned some people off.
  19. Apparently this is the new opening intro It's a little 'rough' but I like they're back at the table The chicken shirt is now forever immortalized in the opening credits. Maybe not the final cut because wouldn't the cast names be there too?
  20. They started with politics because the political video they did is what got them back on the air. There's been a joke here and there. I know people are sick of politics but why can't we laugh about it? I have a lot more issues with Roseanne Conner as a Trump supporter than I do with the first episode of Will and Grace featuring jokes about the current White House resident. I'm not quite sure it's as easy as blaming that for the decreasing ratings (but, no, it probably didn't help and likely turned off the fanbase of Trump who can't seem to laugh at how ridiculous their president is). Even though it's multi-cam and lasted as long as it did, it's really no different at this point than NBC's other niche sitcoms with limited ratings. Niche shows that belong on streaming or cable. It's already guaranteed another season. I imagine considering the alternatives (AP Bio and Champions, which kind of looks interesting, barely pull 3 million and let's not pretend Superstore is some mega hit, it's not), NBC is probably still happy. I do think it was a mistake to have as many episodes as they are. While the episodes have been funny, I can see why there was probably a drop off in the audience. I agree it will happen to Roseanne too, but Roseanne has the ability to appeal to middle America (and I doubt the other side of the audience will be that turned off to tune out in droves, but it could be interesting to see what happens), which likely isn't going to turn out in droves for Will & Grace. Will & Grace ultimately lacks the broad appeal, it's not the generic CBS sitcoms.
  21. Mark's teacher reminds me of M(r?)s. Crane from, what was it, the first episode where Darlene barks like a dog? I've watched every episode a gazillion times I should know this ... I believe this teacher is younger but the resemblance is interesting. Probably not intentional but maybe it was.

The schedule is out and WKRP is the only change/addition on April 2nd. Everything else is the same. Mama's Family will continue on weekends.
  23. Lots of photos: http://tvline.com/gallery/roseanne-season-10-photos/
  24. OMG that new trailer. I LOOOOVE the stairs bit. LMAO. Looks good. I'm feeling better seeing more and more footage. The same vibe is there. Pretty amazing that the show premiered 30 years ago this October, and it's returning to television the same year.
