  1. It was a storyline that started around May 1983 and ran through November and dealt with a plot to use subliminal perception to control the people of Monticello.
  2. Word of AW's cancellation came around April 12 from what I saw online. So they were likely getting ready to film the episodes that would be airing about the 35th anniversary. If I remember correctly, Goutman was quoted around that time saying that they didn't have plans to celebrate the anniversary on air. I know they were wrapping things up after the cancellation was announced, but it never made sense to me that they introduced Toni's sister KC and Jake's nephew Sean in those final weeks. What was the point?
  3. Check out the awesome Somerset website for details on the show and many of the stories: http://www.awinsomerset.com
  4. I'm talking about two characters. Victoria Tamerlane (not sure of the spelling) was introduced in 1984 during the Barbados story. She was Brandon's daughter by Sharina and, thus, the sister of Alan, Alex, and Amanda. She's seen here in this clip: The late Kim Hamilton played Victoria. http://variety.com/2013/film/people-news/actress-kim-hamilton-dies-at-81-1200803013/ Vicky Brandon was introduced in 1998 and was Michael Burke's research assistant during the cloning storyline. She was first played by Karen Williams. Victoria Platt then took over the role. Vicky originally had an accent that was dropped after a few months. Vicky was revealed to be Victoria Tamerlane's daughter, making her the niece of Alan, Alex, and Amanda. During Vicky's story, it was established that her mother Victoria was deceased. Hope this helps!
  5. Well done! I just love the irony of both Alex and Iris having once been played by the incomparable Beverlee McKinsey! One major issue: it was established on Guiding Light that Victoria Tamberlain, the daughter of Brandon and Sharina, is dead. That character, who appeared in 1984, was also known as Victoria, not Vicky. Her daughter Vicky showed up in 1998 during the cloning storyline.
  6. Willie Aames was only on Edge for about 13 weeks. He debuted in mid-August and was last seen in mid-November when the ISIS story wrapped up. Robbie Hamlin was mainly involved with Jody, Preacher, and Louis Van Dine.
  7. I was always under the impression that Budig was axed in favor of Lenz. I don't recall hearing that she opted not to renew her contract.
  8. Love the reveal about Karynn and Karl!
  9. When did Laura run away on General Hospital? I don't recall that.
  10. Great work! I'm loving this series. (So much better than Another World Today). I love seeing the connections to Search for Tomorrow, Guiding Light, and The Edge of Night. It gives me inspiration to possibly try my hand at one. I've been toying for years about a continuation of The Edge of Night though set in the present day. I may give it a shot once I'm done rewriting my novel.
  11. Cool episode. Love seeing characters and settings from other P&G soaps popping up. MLC - McCleary was the name of one of the families on Search for Tomorrow. I'm assuming that Lisa is Felicia's niece Lisa Grady who has married one of the McCleary brothers (maybe Cagney?). Lisa was on AW from 1987 to 1989, I believe, and was involved with Jamie Frame. Lisa had psychic powers. Joanna Going played the role. Earlier, she played Evie Stone on Search for Tomorrow. Evie was connected to Quinn McCleary and his brother Cagney.
  12. Didn't Doris Belack originate the role of Bernice Fish on Barney Miller?
  13. Enjoyed this episode very much. A question: who's Damian? Gina referenced him as her younger brother. I don't recall a Damian.
  14. Probably Capitol. She says the show was doing a little better than AW in the ratings. Y&R was #2 at that point while Capitol was just a little higher than AW. The only rotten characters at that time, I believe, were Myrna Clegg and Paula Denning (to some extent).
  15. Very cool. Was that James Lipton in the scenes with Reverend Keeler, who couldn't seem to remember his lines?
  16. Marland departed Guiding Light around September or October 1982. I think St. Croix happened during the summer. The writing shift was fairly noticeable, in my opinion anyway, especially when Pat Falken Smith launched that weird story of the house crashing into the Reardon's boarding house.
  17. Awesome episode. Loved the ending!
  18. Awesome episode! And I loved all the characters being in it. Perfection!
  19. Phillips did replace Cher in the role after Cher bowed out. That was in 1983. McRae played another character in 1984. In We Love Soap's obit for McRae, Marcia McCabe (Sunny Adamson) reminisces about McRae and her role as Hogan McCleary's literary agent.
  20. Scollay played Harry Wilson, not Harry Johnson. According to the Somerset Register Web site, Harry Johnson was a character who appeared in November 1972.
  21. But did she really kill Karen?
  22. When Jim Reardon was introduced in November 1983, it was reported that he would be involved in a love triangle with Hillary and Katie. That never really materialized.
  23. I thought it was Long that wanted to end Search with them marrying. I can't see how that would have worked. It would have been such a rushed romance.
  24. I believe TR left...maybe around September. And then Jane Krakowski returned for the final episodes.
  25. I'm not sure I buy that as the reason Reed left Search. He left around June 1986 and passed away in 1992. He was quite active in acting after leaving Search.
