Tina and Dianne were perfection as Lurlene and Ruby on Texas. How interesting that they both portrayed Stephanie's secretary.

The Nick/Matt scene was one of my favorites. That said, I loved a scene during one episode where Maggie and Althea were in the clinic and singing and dancing. I think it was Bethel's last episode. It was so unexpected and fun.

By all means, do not skip ahead. There are amazing moments and compelling performances coming up on many fronts. Overall, the story moves along fairly quickly and can be damn riveting at times. Better than anything currently on daytime.

I think she was also a day player on The Edge of Night in 1984. I seem to recall a scene between her and Preacher when they were on a plane.

I really like Steve and Karen, too. I find Karen to be one of the most fascinating characters in the history of soaps. And I have to say that I am loving Peter Burnell as Mike Powers. In just a few episodes, he's won my heart.

I was totally shocked but it and that they allowed the word "abortion."

Actually, in one of the episodes that aired this week, Steve came out and asked Karen point blank if she was contemplating having an abortion...or something like that. I was shocked by that and that he actually used the word "abortion".

I get the impression Carolee is in her early 30s. She mentioned to Liz about her boyfriend being killed in the Korean War. I'm unclear of Steve's age...maybe around Carolee's age. During one episode, he talked about his brother being killed in World War II.

And I love the candy striper. I want to see more of her. Her facial expressions are hilarious to me. I loved that scene with her and Nick and Althea.

Veronica Gayley was another one who raped and murdered. Wasn't Sister Sarah raped, too? Or perhaps it was an attempted rape.

How cool! Was she still referred to as Aileen? Or Estelle? Did she have a British accent? Who played Martin?

Slick, I was thinking the same thing. Carlivati and other soap writers need to watch The Doctors to see what soaps are all about.

I was telling my husband about how riveting The Doctors is. As you said, it's very much an adult show. And it's a show based in reality. It's also very fast paced. I find the stories move quickly with most episodes covering one day of time in the characters' lives.

I thought John Wesley Shipp left for pilot season with the understanding that he could return to GL if things didn't pan out. And then when he approached GL in 1984 about returning, he was told by Kobe that they didn't have a need for Kelly. It makes sense since they then had Jim Reardon as their hunky doctor. Of course, Michael Woods would a year later leave for pilot season. As I recollect, Culliton introduced Annabelle Sims in April 1983 and then the story with the mysterious photo actually kicked off in May 1983. I think Pam was head writer when the story actually started. However, in a message to the Another World Home Page, Browne said that Kobe fired her around February/March 1983 and that GL continued to use her bible for the next nine months. However, she also claims that she was credited as head writer during those nine months. Not true. Her name was gone from the credits no later than April 1983.

I had no idea Edie had been on The Doctors. I remember watching her on NBC 10 when I moved to the Philly area in the mid-90s. She was a well-respected journalist here. I think it is Estelle Harris. There are other instances of this photo online where it says that it was Hector accompanied by Estelle Harris at some kind of ceremony honoring Sophia Loren. Here's a photo from last year that claims to be Hector with Carolee. http://www.merwinconservancy.org/2013/11/a-poignant-evening-of-film-friends-poetry/hector-and-carolee/

I will private message you some details so as to not spoil folks who haven't seen the episodes. It was never established that Lila Anderson had been in a cult.
