  1. I actually posted about this a few pages back, but it is a reminder of Djokovic's privileged position and how he only has ever used it to benefit himself. He may be a great player, but he's a horrible human. The deadline to file for said exemption was December 10. TA will twist themselves in knots to try to make that Nadal/Djokovic title match happen, by hook and by crook.
  2. Just as I suspected, that wretch is unvaccinated, walking around, engaging with children at events and spreading himself around. Released out of detention, unlike those detainees, some of whom fled for their lives, many who have been detained for years. Craig Riley and TA has invited a full-on shítshow. Posting without further comment, just as a 411.
  3. Same. It's seems like a constant drumbeat these days.
  4. Also, YouTube counts as social media and it's been out since 2005, no? You know what was the predominant social media since the television entered the consumer marketplace? The telephone. I agree with the posters who express skepticism that getting on social media would actually change things. You know what does though? Consumer behavior. Money talks. When sponsors express dissatisfaction with a network decision or a program's storyline and they threaten to pull their sponsorship dollars, that's when things change. Anyone interested in this topic, there is extensive reading material on this subject.
  5. Speaking of happenings "Down Under", a first title in Australia for Monfils!
  6. Hm, I'm not sure there's an answer for this since any response would be deeply speculative at best. Also, no idea happens before its time. The television and media landscape was vastly different than what we see and experience today. Would we have to assume that this landscape would be the same as it used to be, or what it currently is? When I first glanced at this question, the thought that immediately came to mind is what if the soaps that had been cancelled in the last 20 years had had the benefit of social media, would it have bought many of them more time on air? Or would the distinct lack of support that most suffered from at the end of their runs render any social media campaigns ineffective?
  7. With people this inconsiderate and dumb, how will we ever get released from this pandemic?
  8. This isn't always a given though. A couple years ago, Faith Evans complained that she gave a documentary her full participation and was disheartened with what ultimately aired and the way she was presented in the doc. I am thinking, however that Janet's people made sure that she had approval over the final cut, but I never make assumptions.
  9. Today is the type of day that I'd appreciate the good escapists drama of vintage ATWT. I look at the upload schedule of B&B episodes and, man, could you imagine if PGP did something like this for ATWT years 1986 and 1987?!! Every storyline, each and every episode, from beginning to end?! Man, today is the type of day that I wish someone were looking out for ATWT like someone is clearly looking out for B&B fans.
  10. Geez, what a regrettable day.
  11. As a Caribbean person, Poitier was such a giant of a figure to my community. Even at 94 years of age, this is taking me awhile to process. With the hurricane and with COVID-19, thoughts would often but randomly drift to him and wonder at his health, how he was impacted by having so many family impacted by that hurricane. Right now, I realize that there are family members who do not know this news and I don't want to tell them. Poitier was that impactful. Man, what a loss. How can I tell certain loved ones?
  12. It was a three, not a handful of people, as Tiley claimed?
  13. @janea4old Thank you for posting these speeches, as I have yet to see them. I hope to get a chance to watch later on today.
  14. Stay tuned for another episode of "As The Tennis Ball Bounces"...
  15. ITA. It wasn't a censored episode or anything, there was clearly something wrong, possibly something went awry during the upload process (perhaps the perils of going directly from analog to YouTube without a digital conversion?). I noticed that the time stamp had thirty minutes, which is odd since the run times are usually 21 minutes or so, but at least there were no missing scenes or sequences, so I could deal with it and most, importantly, the slap was included this time.
  16. So, were the other exemption recipients able to prove that they had COVID-19 in the past six months? The suspicion/sentiment seems to be that the documents presented by Djokovic weren't verifiable, either because there were inaccuracies or or some type of fraud (which would be a punishable offense). I wonder whether the specific circumstances for his deportation will be revealed. Perhaps in his lawyers' appeal filings, there will be additional revelations. Just curious.
  17. Glad you and your parents tested negative. Glad to hear confirmation that this variant predates Omicron. I suspected that it would be along the lines of a Lambda variant. I mean Omicron has become dominant over Delta and Delta had been pretty damn virulent.
  18. Whew, a mess indeed. And an avoidable spectacle too.
  19. And then his fanatics do this, which in their eyes, his situation is completely the same as a woman who was sexually assaulted and disappeared. EDT: Looks like he already changed his AVI but the Internet doesn't forget about thing like this.
  20. Tennis players are not essential workers. Tennis organizations love to throw their weight around concerning enforcement of rules towards some players. Clearly Tennis Australia has its own set of rules, which may or may not be in keeping with the rules of the Australian government. Millions had to abide by Australia's rigid standards, surely most players are intelligent enough to realize this? As for those who are not? Oh well. Deal with it. Djokovic is likely to find a way to weasel his way in anyway, so don't stress it.
  21. This is the first I am hearing of this. Why?
  22. ^^There is some question of whether Omicron, in its infinite power to dominate other variants (even an arguably more virulent strain like Delta), may just dominate this newest variant as well.
