  1. Andy's never been a favourite of mine, but if he really is leaving it will still be a sad moment. Another Sugden gone.... But there are ways to beef up that family. Robert has a half-sister, Sandie, who moved to Scotland in 1989. She could be re-introduced, and by this time she could have children and thereby bring in a new generation. Or, as I've said before, they could bring back Sam Skilbeck. Maybe he could buy Home Farm now that the Whites are in disarray. And that would also mean an opportunity to have Matt and/or Dolly back on occasion. I don't think Frederick Pyne or Katharine Barker/Jean Rogers would be interested in coming back fulltime, but they could visit. It would tie the current show a little bit more to the past.
  2. Novak Djokovic is out!! http://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/36691155
  3. Today marks the 100th birthday of Olivia de Havilland. One of the last from Hollywood's golden age. I think we all wish her a happy birthday.
  4. I wonder how Amos and Henry would feel about it!
  5. British MP dead after shooting and stabbing attack. It looks like it might be connected to the Brexit campaign going on at the moment. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-36550304
  6. The 22nd Grand Slam title continues to elude Serena Williams. Garbine Muguruza wins the French Open, 7-5 6-4, and becomes the first Spanish female champion since 1998. http://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/36452385
  7. That's great! The 1970s is my favourite era. It was such a different show then compared to now, and even compared to the 1980s and the 1990s. I think it's partly sentimental reasons too. I first watched the show back in the very late 1970s, so I have an emotional attachment to that period.
  8. http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/emmerdale/news/a795734/who-is-the-greatest-emmerdale-character-of-all-time/ 10 (!) Dingles on their list, and Kelly Windsor and Dave Glover! But not Joe Sugden, Henry Wilks, Frank Tate, Matt Skilbeck, Sam Pearson, Dolly Skilbeck...... Only 8 characters included from the "Emmerdale Farm" period..... (Robert, Seth, Eric, Jack, Annie, Alan, Amos and Kathy) Right now Aaron is leading the poll.
  9. Roger Federer has withdrawn from the French Open http://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/36336722

  11. A fascinating article about a true legend. That word is sometimes used a bit too frequently, but in this case it is certainly appropriate. I do think that the article was somewhat biased regarding the Olivia-Joan relationship. Yes, the article was about Olivia, so naturally it presented her point of view, but an interview with Joan had probably presented a different story, and the truth is most likely something in between the two.
  12. I'm in the mood for some classical music tonight....
  13. A combination of three things I like, Liza Minnelli, Stephen Sondheim and Pet Shop Boys
  14. I loved "Fame"
