Y&R: May 2026 Discussion Thread
I'm back to watching regularly. It's difficult to watch. It would be easy to fast forward through what isn't of interest but I'd be fast forwarding most of the show. Cane and Lily are the only enjoyable thing for me right now. Like many viewers I thought it would be nice if Victor lost but since we know TPTB always want Victor to be the ultimate victor I just want it over. Just have Phyllis give NE back and get it over with. It's a foregone conclusion. While I do think Joshua has been doing a decent job with Nick's addiction storyline, I wish they'd move it along. The show has some good characters but the writing is lacking so many ways. It's frustrating. The show needs a major overhaul. The show feels small. It's pretty boring.

I don't like Paris either although I don't really dislike her either but I felt badly for her. Carter could have let her leave before his PDA.

I like Amelia, was a fan since Loving but even after so many years she's not Victoria to me. And I don't consider Victoria a bada$$ because she imperiled the company in the first place. Her recent machinations don't change that but I'm sure it won't matter to Victoria. The scenes really fell short. If Ashland is sticking around, I want him to take her down. Her take down of him was about her ego. She was still a gullible fool for years. She didn't care how he assumed the identity of his best friend, that he had the wherewithall to do it at the time nor that he fleeced a woman. Victoria has said she isn't taken seriously and they try to coddle her but she didn't give a fig about what he did to his mentor, a woman who encountered a lot more sexism than Victoria can fathom.

The entire draw was a joke, so lopsided.

Y&R June 2022 Discussion Thread
It's not just you. I find it disgusting actually. Lying to your child about a serious illness is despicable. But, Harrison doesn't know the nitty gritty of it. Ashland is his father and always will be because of the emotional bond. Harrison staying with Kyle and Summer for six months in Italy doesn't erase that bond. I have never been fond of the character and I preferred Richard in the role but I'd much rather watch Ashland fight Kyle in court than bend over to his demands. And I feel Tara should be mentioned as well. Summer is a parent to Harrison, a stepmother but she's not his mother. I like how unapologetic Imani is. I find it annoying that Amanda is trying to change her behavior. Imani's an adult. She doesn't want to change and she doesn't have to. Amanda chose to hire her. I'm very surprised at how much I'm enjoying Diane. There's an elegance and intelligence and strength about her I enjoy. I loved how she responded to Phyllis' PDA.

B&B June 2022 Discussion Thread
I only began watching B&B for my Teddy bear and I'm beyond disappointed. I understand not bringing Ted back if it was just for Jack to bury Finn but given that he's alive, it really doesn't make sense. I mean perhaps he's angry with himself, it would be nice to actually see it. Why bring Ted King on and give him scraps? Jack could come back, divorce Li who doesn't seem the forgiving type and move on with someone else. I'd rather not have seen Jack at all for it to be playing out like this. The irony is Finn was fine hanging out with members of two unscrupulous families. What Jack did pales in comparison to some of what they've done. Eric romping around with Donna while Quinn shows her immense gratitude for Eric's forgiveness is getting tiresome. Let the affair be exposed already.... Now Carter is backtracking with Quinn. I never felt they had spectacular chemistry, it's just much better than his with Paris which is in the subbasement. The dialogue is terrible though, sometimes I cringe and look away. Krista looks great in the intro. I wish they were writing Taylor better but I like Krista in the role. Sean Kanan's weight loss is very dramatic. My jaw dropped when I saw Deacon with Brooke.

B&B February 2022 Discussion Thread
Probably the best examples to illustrate how poorly run this show is are in Friday's episode. You have grown children barrage their father again about choosing their mother over his wife. You love your Dad? Fine. But why be so heavy handed? And if it's kismet then why does Ridge need to be convinced? It didn't seem like he chose Taylor. Katherine has always been very proficient at crying but she must get a lot of headaches from the crying she does. Brooke is a perfect name for the character. The best example [of the worst] were Paris and Carter. If you can't sell kissing, it doesn't matter how flowery the dialogue is. Paris was actually squinting and looked disgusted while kissing Carter. It makes no sense. They can't even kiss in a way that makes you think they're attracted to each other. They're about to give into passion but she looks grossed out and a director let that pass? The infrequency of anything good is further punctuated by poor follow-up. If something is good, it will inevitably be written badly or be poorly paced. Sheila's schtick isn't entertaining. They rehash the same crap every episode. I'm tired of her stupid grins. I like Krista Allen in the role. It's a shame the writing is so shoddy.

I like Krista as Taylor although that might change. I'm looking forward to her scenes with Katherine/Brooke. If their sparring and bantering aren't brimming with good adversarial chemistry this triangle really won't work. I wasn't a fan of Ronn Moss' acting style so I don't mind that they're revisiting this triangle with 2 of the 3 actors being recasts. I hope they didn't bring Taylor back to be a foil or worse. The wig... a truly awful one. There are so many women wearing wigs and weaves that looks good. Hell I've seen better ones from SNL after a changeover. You'd rather sleep with a mop than with me. Gotta hurt Sheila. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ She's been begging Deacon to sleep with her. Reeks of desperation. Had he said yes she might have mounted him right there at the bar. Krista is 50. Jacqueline is 34. Seem more like sisters although Krista did a good job being motherly. Not sure about the bangs but Annika (Hope) would look much better blonde.

I'm underwhelmed by nununununuChance. But it's early on. I'm one of those young viewers and I'd rather see Jill than 97% of the rest of the them. Jess is still top notch and I say that having just watched the day ahead. The show is better than when I first came back to it but still a fixer upper. Rinse. Leather. Repeat. Billy is impulsive. Billy is a screw up. I will always feel Billy was miscast but it would be great to see Billy best The Mustache, Adam, Ashland and Victoria. Great news and not really a spoiler but....

B&B November 2021 Discussion Thread
I really enjoyed their scenes. They were a highlight for me. Their scenes weren't over the top, she didn't throw anything at his head or hold cutlery to his throat. I appreciated that. I prefer Paris in Thomas' orbit than Finn's but I find Paris' lines sound very rehearsed and it's a bit off-putting. I especially like that Thomas got his hair cut, makes a world of difference. ____________________________ I don't really care about Sheila, her antics are legendary in daytime but that was in the heyday of soaps. She's muted here and it just isn't who Sheila is. And pairing her with Deacon as partners-in-crime doesn't really advantage her either. Steffy has put her foot down. Where's this storyline going to end? Finn defies her, establishes a relationship, she threatens divorce etc? No thanks. Finn rejects her at every turn and she escalates? She kidnaps her grandson? There's a manhunt for months then a tearful reunion a month later? No thanks. Maybe the addition of.... I guess I'm one of the few here who didn't see great chemistry between Quinn and Carter. I don't know her past because I wasn't watching and I understand her relationship with Eric even less but Eric wanted nothing to do with her and they went from that to him taking responsibility for the demise of their marriage and then he encouraged her to have intercourse with another man because of his ED because he loved her THAT much. She subsequently got someone he purportedly cared and cares about fired and he seemed fine with it. Paints them both in a bad light. It's not Donna's fault she made his D dance. I get being bitter about it but wasn't it Eric who licked her finger? Did Donna make him do that? Why does she get tossed out? And why did she take it? You can't argue she wasn't inappropriate but he's also her boss. And then she justifies it and it made her look weak. My biggest beef with the show is the pacing. Sometimes it feels interminably slow for what is actually on-screen. At the same time, we don't see characters for weeks at a time so that hurts continuity. The show needs an injection of new writers with fresh ideas or writers with better takes on old ones.

I think it was his hotel room. I don't think the chemistry is scorching or anything close but I do like their banter. It's nice to see Sally being something other than the punching bag of others.

YR: Legacy character recast
I agree. I always felt like Adamson had a perpetual deer caught in the headlights look. I'm crossing my fingers that he's a decent actor.

No. Phyllis kicked her out. New Noah? Hopefully better than the last one, I never cared for him. They aged Noah but the recast lacked charisma and wasn't the best actor. If they're not going to recast Chance then they should have Abby divorce him. She has a doll baby and the writers think an absent hubby is going to work in perpetuity? The party was hilariously bad. The lack of a crowd for what was a party with rich people. Still Sally tossing that drink in Phyllis' face was fleetingly entertaining. Nick's voice..... can Joshua pretend to be at least slightly enthusiastic? I'm guessing Phyllis tops. Michelle Stafford should have taken it down several notches with Phyllis stomping around, not enough champagne for 14 people? I'm surprised she didn't take someone's eye out with one of her floppy discs.

Y&R August 2021 Discussion Thread
The last time I watched Y&R, she was only ever at Newman Enterprises visiting Victor and/or her kids. It's always odd coming back to a soap after a long hiatus. You never know who'll be a surgeon, all grown-up or who's an executive. Thanks for the info. I've always liked Jill or rather I've liked watching her. I was disappointed to hear Jess had left but from what I understand, she tended to her ill husband who has now passed. I'd love to see Jill again. She wasn't a pushover. I'd rather watch her than most of the youngins.
