  1. Right? It’s a wonder that Patti and Len and Bruce and Gary survived.
  2. Musings about Jenna: When Morgan Fairchild played her (best), she mentions Naldo and admits Bobby isn’t Charlie’s father. When Francine Tacker played Jenna, she’s just put Charlie on an airplane to visit her father, Naldo, in Rome. When Priscilla Presley played Jenna, Charlie’s parentage is again mysterious. Charlie doesn’t know who Naldo is but thinks Bobby is her father due to Bobby’s name on her birth certificate. One of the Top Three retcons along with Lucy and Uncle Ray’s affair (never happened) and out-of-the-blue Jason Swing’s kids.
  3. Melody is FURIOUS because Nikki hasn’t killed anyone in a few years and this was HER storyline!
  4. I’d love to see Chris paired with Billy…if Billy was Billy Miller, not sad-sack Jason Thompson.
  5. Chris said about two weeks ago that she was considering being DA again. Now, she is. Of course, two weeks ago was “yesterday” on Y&R, so… girl had a vision board with “DA” on it AND MADE IT HAPPEN OVERNIGHT. We all know that on soaps anyone can get any job at any time with no skills whatsoever, so Chris being DA purely for this storyline works for me, because she actually is skilled. Now Nikki as a business exec. Hell, Kay as a business exec! Two drunks (one a stripper) took quite a leap from the barroom to the boardroom. My all-time fave was talk-show host Reva on GL with ex-con, former hooker, bartender and waitress Selena as her producer.
  6. Elizabeth Hubbard’s son has announced that she passed away over the weekend. She was 89.
  7. Love the way that Y&R saved a bundle by not actually showing the ambulance crash site! Like, wouldn’t YOU want to go directly there if it was YOUR mom/friend/etc? Do bodies really vaporize in ambulance fires? Or just on soaps? Collins Road. Sharon Collins commented that it was odd that the ambulance was in that vacinity. I guess she knows Her Road. Phyllis’ mask found on the floor. Obviously the source of any “poison” transmission. Poisoned by Jeremy? We just had two actors playing one short-term villain (Ashland) and now we have another short-term villain. Honestly, if Ashland and Jeremy had been combined, and Newman or Burgi was playing him, this story would be stronger, especially with Ash being Harrison’s grandfather and Victoria’s ex. Love the way Sharon is making Phyllis’ collapse all about HER. Lastly, can Phyllis return from the “dead” played by Gina Tognoni?
  8. LMAO. I had Eva Marcille as a client recently. She was dressed down, little to no makeup. I asked her if she was who I thought she was. She probably thought I meant from REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA (where we live) or AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODRL. She replied yes, and I said, “Aunt Tyra! You slept with your NEPHEW!!!” She laughed and laughed and said, “Tyra Hamilton! I didn’t think anyone remembered her!” Eva’s got her own show now, ALL THE QUEEN’S MEN, and I’m so happy for her success. She’s tiny in person and very, very nice for a “celebrity.”
  9. I liked the Liz and Nicole relationship also. But I’ll never understand how Liz and Rachel dropped ALL their animosity towards each other. That clip where Liz returns to Bay City after a year away and they HUG. Oh my. Was there an an actual story where they made peace? Or did that just fall through the cracks? We know Vicky W still had the ability to ice out anyone she was upset with (as Rachel). Felicia saw that after her alcoholic storyline, especially that scene during Ada’s passing. Maybe Vicky was happy that Irene was back, more so than Rachel should’ve been. But, hey, I have problems with Rachel and Alice ever being civil with one another too. A person can grow and mature and mellow but still hate an old enemy. Emotionally, you can go RIGHT BACK THERE to when you despised them. I grew up with Rachel tormenting Alice. Sweet Rachel was a bit difficult for me
  10. I’ve read BOTH OF ME several times, and I believe Mary finished writing it some time before these big changes came to SFT. Of course, Mary omits a lot of major events on SFT, such as Eunice’s death.
  11. I guess there’s always Larry, who was no doubt offscreen like Y&R’s Paul. Makes me wonder if Danny got an exit…multiple exits, actually. Josh Hall too.
  12. So many characters never got exit scenes. Ed could’ve easily said that Carla had moved to Arizona without the scene between them. Carla says in the scene that she’ll probably send for her mother after she’s settled. It wasn’t perfect onscreen, but better than some. (The offscreen was of course atrocious.) Didn’t Don Craig go out to mail a letter on DAYS and never return? I mean, this could be (and probably had been) a thread in itself. Any other OLTLers who just vanished with no onscreen explanation, even in exposition?
  13. Cathy Craig questions: Why so many recasts? I assume Catherine Burns left following her Oscar nom. Amy Levitt seemed to garner alot of publicity during her stint due to the addiction storyline. Why was she replaced? And Jane Alice Brandon after her? Why did Doris Quinlan fire Dorrie Kavanaugh after 4 years? Why wasn’t Jennifer Harmon, the first OLTL Best Actress Emmy nom, retained, despite the storyline? And why didn’t the character ever return? Was Cathy mentioned when Jim Craig died? Or ever again? Read that Robin Strasser refused the role of Cathy because Dorrie would’ve been fired. (She was anyway.) Robin could’ve been Viki’s nemesis years earlier than she was.
  14. RIP Stella Stevens (Phyllis Blake).
  15. You are correct. I interviewed Kim for a local paper in 1985, and she told me that she was vehemently opposed to Reva’s suicide attempt. She lost that battle and had to play it. The Cain story was also supposed to be different. He was supposed to be a true mountain man whom Reva would civilize and tame. Kim was intrigued by this. (She always embraced the most bizarre storylines because she got to ACT!!! and play something different, and I get that.) This isn’t what we got, though. The show moved away from this story rather quickly. Kim didn’t like it either, and she and Jerry Lanning weren’t really hitting it off or setting the world on fire. Of course, the story, like so many others on GL (Susan Piper/Carrie Carruthers; Reva is Rebecca/Catherine; Reva gives up a son, Dylan/Jonathan), was repeated when Reva was stranded on the island by Annie with Sean, who had a way off but didn’t want to let her go, although his obsession was less than Cain’s.
  16. Thanks for the confirmation, Paul Raven. The new PEOPLE MAGAZINE SPECIAL about GH’s 60th anniversary even shows Luke in 1978 with a straight pageboy haircut.
  17. SFT's leading man even had to perm his hair, because GH's Luke Spencer had curly hair, and was receiving tons of media coverage (any idiot would understand that it was not only because of Tony Geary'sfrizzy afro). Isn’t this urban legend? Luke debuted in November 1978. I could swear that Travis and his curly hair (perm or not) debuted earlier that year.
  18. RIP Lisa Loring, ex-Cricket Montgomery. The actress died at 64 after a massive stroke.
  19. Well, I certainly need to hear more about Lahoma’s adulterous stripping!
  20. RIP Teri Keane, who was Lila Kelly in 1957 and Lainie Bauer in 1988. She is best known for her roles on EDGE and OLTL, although she appeared on many soaps.
  21. THIS^^^ Even Kim Stewart Hughes begrudgingly agrees, and she hated the bitch, Kiddo! What’s funny is, Cooke is younger than Vigard. Unfortunate recasting, but what choice did they have? Vigard couldn’t get her act together and Cooke was gorgeous and appealing. It was odd that Vigard did the wedding and Cooke did the honeymoon, but… Besides, John Wesley Shipp twirling Jennifer Cooke around the dance floor at Wired For Sound during the Disco Theme is pure bliss to me. I followed Cooke to prime time on V and A YEAR IN THE LIFE. I really liked her. Remember she was actually dating Robert Newnan (Josh) IRL. Later she quit acting and married the owner of Celestial Teas and wrote a “cooking with tea” cookbook.
  22. I didn’t read it, but given the fact that Jake DIED… …I’ll say Joe.
  23. Irene Cara, a SFT vet from 1970, has passed away.
  24. It’s memorable, all right! A butthole (quoting) is involved! Not his!
  25. Why isn’t she allowed to voice her opinion about her (negative?) work experience there? Hell, Eileen did it for the last ten years of the show. Doesn’t make me think any less of them or taint them.
