Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
So that's Rhona, Victoria, and now Lydia in a short time period. Found the first two too disturbing to watch, yeah not even going to bother with this recent rehash. The show needs a change, and FAST.

Total embarrassment of riches not getting DA to return to DAYS, and instead going to AW.

Looks like General Hospital's loss was Guiding Light's gain in the spring of '84.

Giving Jeff Ryder more of a say in the direction of stories, was a big mistake. If they couldn't find anyone to share the HW duties with Pam Long, they should've let her be solo IMO.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I actually do like Anna, and I think Molly isn't as bad as she could be. Her character is a bright spot on the canvas too. Gina, I'm always torn. The actress was strong in her scenes with Cindy, but I don't think she does subtlety very well, especially where her character is spiraling out of control at Peggy's.

Days: Rumor of yet another character switcheroo for existing actor...
The sooner whatshisface stuff stops airing the better, because this just reeks of him. [redacted former co-executive producer]

GL and Y&R tied for second nice.

GH: Former OLTL'er Reprising Role!
Why bring on Blair as played by KDP, when you have both RH and ME playing different characters SMH. Even more confusing with RH playing Austin....

Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
As much as I detest Chloe, it's so lame how British soaps(Corrie, Emmerdale, heck even EE) love doing stories where the parent of a child dies, and the child gets taken care of by the couple TPTB want us to root for. 🙄

The way DAYS rushes through plot points, it's not surprising lol

Don't want to offend any fans of OLTL, as it is one of my fav soaps as well, but looking at these ratings you can see how it obtained that title as the redhead step child of ABC.

Makes me miss the days of when Ed Scott produced the show. Sigh

It's so crazy seeing the entire NBC Daytime line up at the bottom, with the exception of EDGE and Capitol. DAYS is showing growth though, but not as impactful.

I wonder if this is after Marland's departure and the revolving door of writers that followed... Nvm, thanks for the info on Doug's departure kalbir.

Ratings from the 80's
I believe April 1982 is when DAYS transitioned from Pat Falken Smith to Depriest/Sheri Anderson. I assume the show was already showing signs of improvement under Falken Smith.

NBC Daytime
Very true. I've always thought there was a need to add a psychiatrist to the group of Matt/Maggie/Steve/Carolee.

Edge is really the little engine that could.....Doctors audience has been cut in half, and it's sad seeing it die out at the bottom of the pack, especially since I honestly don't see a need for the creation of Texas.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I've always believed end of 2002/start of 2003 was a turning point for the show, and had any other writer followed Taggart/Culliton's plans we would've seen a much more rejuvenated GL in '03 especially regarding the Spaulding's. The Spaulding drama with Alex vs Alan, I can't help but to believe that Taggart/Culliton were planning on bringing back A-M to battle it out for Spaulding (perhaps siding with Alan since Phillip was no longer the favored son). I also recall a brief discussion about Blake wanting to get in the heat of things by wanting to jump back into the corporate world at Spaulding. There was also some of those threads previously set up during the Ex-Wives club such as Alex blackmailing Mindy, that may have been picked up again in the following year. However Conboy/Weston totally squandered all of that. The show would get another chance when Kreizman/Wheeler first start out, and with the Roger Thorpe death storyline, but again, much of the potential is wasted.

The Doctors Discussion Thread
I think Doris Quinlan was the right producer for DOCTORS at the time in 79/80, but Ralph Ellis and Eugenie Hunt were the wrong writers to execute ideas that she clearly wanted to implement into the show. Quinlan was right to have wanted someone a strong writer like Lemay. Such wasted potential, bc the 3's company idea is a interesting idea IMO.
