  1. Sorry, what I meant was that I think it's about a 50% chance the GOP will hold the House and the Senate. If not higher. I was surprised he only felt it was 25%. The Senate is looking good for them, which means more money to pour into the House. The media loves Republicans and will break their backs to help them win. Add in voter apathy and voter suppression, and it's all in place.
  2. Is 25% really seen as good? I think the chances are much higher - I'd say 50% at least. Weird lowballing there.
  3. I saw an article yesterday with people from Pence's college days that reminded me again how terrified I am of him becoming President. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6107325/Mike-Pence-believes-person-save-Donald-Trumps-soul-new-book-claims.html
  4. I've been reading the Sessions stuff and I'm just amazed all over again at how much influence Trump has over the GOP. Sessions was one of their good old boys, both in Congress and in the conservative movement. Now, day by day, more and more of them are happy to toss him to the side, humiliated and defeated.
  5. I read that even Faux News distanced themselves. Yet our heroes of the Beltway are still trying to remind us why we should support Republicans. They would do anything to help Republicans win. It's just sad.
  6. The thing with Louis CK is the stories about him seemed to be an open secret. Many people were fine with it, and fine with his disgusting comedy routines (like the monologue he had on SNL), because they liked him and what he had to say. I think to them all of this was meant to be a rap on the knuckles for him, and now he has paid his dues. Seeing Michael Ian Black push this mindset just reminds me yet again of the hypocrisy of many of the so-called "woke" anti-Trump people.
  7. The "monkey" comment is disgusting both for what it is and because it's such blatant crackpot racism - a real clarion call for the "Oh you think this was racist? YOU'RE RACIST!!!!" types who probably populate areas like North Florida. The saddest part is it will work so well.
  8. I'd never seen these. Typical false soap advertising for Scotty as he rarely acted like a bad boy type on PC (I think he did with Lucy for maybe a year or so but not much).
  9. I'd never heard that Kiefer story before. I wonder who the cast member was.
  10. That's a shame. What do you think of it? That last reality show sounds just awful. Is it poverty porn?
  11. Republicans seem to pull out these gubernatorial elections every time in Florida, so it's tough to imagine change. I have already seen some people saying he can't win because some of his former allies are under FBI investigation, and that he will cost Democrats Bill Nelson's Senate seat, and state supreme court seats, etc. Personally I think that's unfair and it is obvious there are real problems with Nelson this year that have nothing do with who is running for governor.
  12. Who are these vets who were fine with Trump belittling McCain for being tortured but now have had enough? The vets I know either never liked Trump, or always did and still do.
  13. Speaking of Goodman, the comments he gave which came out earlier today seem to sum up his complicated relationship with Roseanne. https://www.today.com/popculture/john-goodman-defends-roseanne-barr-i-know-fact-she-s-t136362
  14. It seems to be more of the media's McCain goggles (which has gone on for 20 or more years now). It doesn't matter that they know what a horrible man our Resident is - this was supposed to be different. The sad part is if he had made a token effort, we would have had days of gushing coverage about how he was now "Presidential."
  15. I haven't seen enough of Maggie to judge, but Cali Timmins is great.
  16. Rae and her husband were introduced a few months before he died. There was a plane issue, I think. He had bad heart problems. They began grooming Frank's political career. She was having an affair with Roger, which he found out about via private investigator. He died during a confrontation with Rae. There was no mention of Kimberly. She just arrived, like the bad smell that she was.
  17. I guess some would say Henry Slesar, although he only really got one long run at a soap.
  18. As good a writer as Marland was, I feel like his writing for GL characters was (in the episodes I have seen) oddly flat, with a few exceptions (like Nola, Tony [although he got on my nerves] or KV's Morgan). He seemed much more at home on ATWT.
  19. Ben's a pretty common name though. I sometimes wonder how Jerry ver Dorn survived on GL throughout the '80s. I can only assume he was beloved backstage. I remember when he gave the goodbye to Charita Bauer when she passed away. He'd only been on the show 5 years! Yet they had razed through so much of their cast in that time, somehow he actually had become the elder statesman. I'm not sure any other soap has ever gone through their cast in such a short space of time.
  20. Quality is probably one factor (although for me the quality has not been that great since about 2009), but most of the people who used to post here have pretty much left the site. I think James Hooton is one of the best actors on the show and that's something they don't really have a lot of, so I'd keep him for that reason. His family unit has a lot of potential if they work with it (admittedly they probably won't). The biggest problem with Joseph is they aren't likely to bring in any other Tates so he is mostly stranded beyond Debbie. He hasn't been destroyed the way Robert has been, but he is also less likely to stay around, because he isn't part of a popular m/m pairing.
  21. Looks like Phaedra has found a new reality TV gig.
  22. Rita's hair and dress look a bit drab for her but Jackie does look very chic, and she has such life in that photo. I really would love to see those early Jackie scenes, as she could have easily been a character many viewers found irritating, but Cindy Pickett seems to have given her so many layers. Her acting in the 1979 episodes is always so brilliant.
  23. Thanks for the recap. The live episode, the flood, and Sunny's rape are what I most heard about the NBC run.
  24. He was 5 or 6. I liked the final week too.
