  1. More on the Republican who shouted "go back to Puerto Rico!" at a Latino Congressman today. https://www.thepitchkc.com/news/article/20587249/rep-jason-smith-whos-gutting-the-puppy-mill-cruelty-prevention-act-happens-to-be-the-son-of-dog-breeders
  2. With some of the talk here about Omaha I thought some might enjoy seeing a bit of an old news broadcast.
  3. I'm sure they must have but I don't remember anything. I was mostly surprised that they remembered how close he was to Dusty. Goutman must have been on vacation that week.
  4. I'd say what Trump did about the international trip was pretty much expected for him. I'm surprised anyone in DC is surprised or that bothered. I wonder how much is grandstanding. I'm sure that's what it is for Lindsey Graham, who doesn't care about anything but the camera. Jack Dorsey mostly seems to be interested in splashing out the cash for his sweet young thing and showing us how cool and hip he is with his facial hair and tats. Anyway, Tom Marino, a Republican Congressman from PA, is very abruptly resigning for another gig. It's not a competitive seat, so it is no real headache for the GOP, but it just shows how selfish most Republicans are at their core. https://www.politico.com/story/2019/01/17/tom-marino-retire-1109470
  5. I think the best aspect of Colin's work was her chemistry with Larry Bryggman. You really believed she was John Dixon's daughter - it felt less and less real as the years passed.
  6. You didn't sound bleak - if you did it's no different to what I'm feeling, most likely. As you said the only real hope I have is that technology may be invented to reverse some of what we're seeing or have yet to see. That won't be happening in the US, clearly, but maybe somewhere. It's about all we have.
  7. It's one of those things I noticed with bees, even before the news stories began, but I didn't know the full scale. I don't even know why I post these because it's so depressing and as you said it's probably too late, but I just, foolishly, like to believe it would set off some sort of moment in the universe to where something might improve.

  9. I grew up watching Ellen Dolan and Scott Holmes so I am probably always going to have a soft spot for them, but the fun and spark they had was mostly gone by about 1996. They just got more and more shouty and hard to watch. Having seen more of the other actors I'd say Gregg Marx and HBS were the best Tom and Margo, although Margaret Colin was also great.
  10. Yes. He was one of a number of spoilers for Mary/Jack who just kind of disappeared (I think he left town quietly). He had one of the bigger impacts as a fight over him led Jack to his car crash, I think.
  11. This is likely one of the reasons Trump is happy to keep the shutdown going. He is using furloughed workers to do whatever he wants. I won't be surprised if he keeps this up for months, knowing the media, and many in the public, will ultimately blame "both sides" or the Democrats. https://www.politico.com/story/2019/01/16/trump-free-government-labor-shutdown-1106637
  12. I thought that was going to be about the "Problem Solvers" (why does that sound like a Bible group) meeting with Trump.
  13. I have to laugh at the media's little dears, Lindsey Graham and Mitt Romney, puffed up to no end as the intelligence and conscience of the GOP, voting to help Putin. Not that most of the establishment media will care, as they love Putin and hate America too.
  14. Happy birthday Sade!!
  15. Mike Pence's wife is working for a school that bans gay employees. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/karen-pence-immanuel-christian-school_us_5c3e62c2e4b0922a21d99f58 She's lucky that she's a Republican and that the media gives her husband a pass.
  16. Yay, more Seth fans! There must be about two of us here. Meg Bennett as Natalie would have been interesting.
  17. This proud Judaism was not on display when she dressed as Hitler.
  18. The cropped together photo used for one of the Steve King articles makes me laugh: It looks like the male version of the sisters from The Waltons each gasping in their own way at the latest gossip.
  19. I think they put the brakes on Tom because of what had happened with Dan. They were fortunate in that it worked out as well as it did. I still think that choosing to ignore his '70s past was a missed opportunity, and I'm sure Judith Chapman would have been happy to return as Natalie. ATWT blew money on high-priced soap actors for guest stints in the mid/late '00s rather than spending less money and keeping people around long-term. What a waste, and were any of the stories even any good?
  20. It was mostly some filler in summer 1994. Lisa was worried about Scott or heard he was in trouble. She went to Mexico with Shannon and Duncan, looking for a statue that was supposed to help him with a money crisis or something (I don't really remember). Lisa went back home early and Duncan and Shannon had an adventure and got back together (briefly, anyway). I think they found out that Scott had already left again (he was never shown oncamera). I mainly remember what I do remember because SOD named it as one of the worst stories of the year.
  21. It isn't just Faux News pushing the idea of more people supporting the wall. I think I saw an ABC article saying the same. The media really wants that wall and wants Trump to have a win.
  22. Joe Breen was on from 91-93 (or 92-93). Christopher Cass filled in during early 1993. Breen returned to wrap up the story until about spring 1993 I think. Then a year later the "search for Scott" story began that was used to reunite Duncan and Shannon. Then around summer 1995, Scott came to town. wooing his old love/con artist pal Sam. This was Laurie Caso's idea, presumably, as he had apparently planned to kill Kirk and keep him dead. Valente brought Kirk back, so Scott was moved toward Carly and Rosanna and Mike. Then he and Rosanna were written out in spring 1996. (I still remember how hilarious the Rosanna gambling addiction scenes were...)
  23. The repulsive performance Block gave on ATWT I don't think was suited for any major role, but Meek, possibly.
