  1. Didn't the polls have a wider gap (albeit not as wide as these)?
  2. I think possibly for the same reason Hillary won the popular vote by several million.
  3. Backstabber Bernie, happy to sell out his own plan if it means sinking Warren, and likely too deluded to realize this sinks his plan as well.
  4. I will say I think having Melania as a first lady has so degraded the office that people probably don't care as much anymore about that aspect. It won't really matter anyway as he has no real shot of the nomination, unless Joe Biden drops out.
  5. My concerns are more with the framing and the response - I feel like she or her team weren't able to do enough to push back against the idea that she was vague until she was asked enough/got enough of a negative response to finally give more plans.
  6. I don't understand why Boy George even needed to chime in. I thought he was just living in the guesthouse of some scummy phony on RHOBH. I saw a new poll out today that has Trump losing to Biden in the battleground states but beating Warren. Polls are unreliable in many cases, but this and the Medicare mess are sort of my wakeup calls about Warren still having lots of problems I'd tried to forget about. The only problem is by the time next year gets here Biden may be doing no better, or worse. I just don't know who I can support at this point - it feels like brick walls every which way. This photo makes me want to retch. So glad I don't follow sports. https://www.politico.com/news/2019/11/04/trump-nationals-at-white-house-065629 I think he'd be accepted as a VP, but I doubt anyone is picking him. I agree he probably won't win as the nominee, barring a complete Trump collapse. The problem is I'm having a hard time seeing any of these people win right now. If Biden can be dragged over the finish line maybe he has the best chance...I don't know.
  7. Somebody uploaded an episode of Chicken Soup for the Soul that I watched back when it aired, starring Julia Duffy and Jerry Lacy (with Alicia Leigh Willis as their daughter). I enjoyed this show a great deal at the time, both because there were so many people I recognized and also because I thought the writing and performances were of a high quality. I'm sorry it didn't last longer. Another episode has a very powerful performance from Stephen Macht. The last has Joe Penny and Jerry Levine.
  8. My favorite part of the booing was Eric Trump grinning like an idiot.
  9. There are dozens of Dingles, so for me they vary in quality. I think some of them are fine actors and play some of the show's best characters. James Hooton and Emma Atkins and Jeff Hordley are all some of the best on soaps these days. I do agree there are too many Dingles. We get into a vicious cycle where characters return solely for ties to the Dingles, because there are so many Dingles. I'm surprised at how much of Kim's return hasn't involved the Dingles. When the Dingles came into Emmerdale, the Sugdens were already pretty much demolished. The worst mistakes were made and sadly can't be undone, although I do think they could have gotten away with bringing Joe back from the dead. The main problem with the Sugdens and their death count is they were done in an era when the show saw itself as more of a family drama, a life drama, heavily based on the Sugdens. Kevin Laffan then left the show, and even as they transitioned to being a soap, they did nothing to build up the Sugdens. They just kept killing them off and minimizing their role. You could still bring in a long lost son for Jack or Jackie and start fresh. But they won't. I wish they would. The main problem is they can no longer create new families, so we have no alternatives. Look at the Bartons and how poorly they've fared - they're almost all dead and they've only been on the show TEN YEARS! Look at Jessie and her sons, brought in only a year ago, now almost all gone. And on and on. Emmerdale needs new blood, and there's no better way than to go back to the past for inspiration.
  10. I think his appeal is in large part because he's quietly confident as well as able to sell himself as a moderate liberal, and that can appeal to older voters who feel insecure, especially with Biden so shaky. Trump's Presidency means that experience seems to matter much less to donors than it probably would have in the past. I can sort of see what he meant about the race being between himself and Warren, as it's based on the idea of his taking Biden's support and Warren taking Bernie's, but it was not anything he should have said out loud. And there are also many Biden supporters who will not look his way.
  11. Sorry to hear this. Lucky wasn't much of a character but I liked his friendship with Jake.
  12. I'm at the point where I think it may be his election to lose against just about anyone left. I wish Warren had not ensnared herself in the Medicare net because she'd been on the right track until that point. At this point I'm back to hoping Kamala surprises us or hoping Joe Biden can hold himself long together to make it over the finish line. As homophobic as the country is, it's Buttigieg's inexperience that makes me warier of his chances - I just think he will seem small on a larger stage, even against someone as worthless as Trump. He seems very mercenary in his debate performances and demeanor, so I guess at least he isn't likely to fall apart, but...just a risk I'm not comfortable taking right now.
  13. There's a tag against Harris that she is basically a cop locking up the poor, especially non-white poor, and laughing about it every step of the way. Gabbard's attack against her that she was laughing about smoking pot while she locked up people for smoking pot, was glib and demeaning (to Harris and to all the people who are arrested for possession and other minor crimes and who are meaningless to conservatives like Gabbard 99.9999% of the time), but it stuck, because that's what a lot of people want to believe. People who see her as a traitor to her race, or as "not really black," or as another Hillary, and so on. There were so many very ugly smears thrown out there against Harris from before she even entered the race and I feel like most never looked past those. I'm hoping she does break through in Iowa, because I think people might give her a second look if she does. I saw that Buttigieg is saying he feels it's a two-person race with himself and Warren. I don't agree with that, although I guess I get where he's coming from (I imagine he thinks he will surpass Biden and Warren will surpass Bernie), but that will probably not be a scenario the party would ever want to see. I suppose it depends on whether Biden keeps falling and keeps struggling with money. If it keeps up the party may end up preferring Buttigieg in that spot.
  14. I think that's the worst outcome so it's probably what will happen.
  15. Buttigieg has been doing better than Beto in the polls, nationally and statewide, for a while now, and has tons of money. My guess is he will be in through Iowa and New Hampshire at least. He has no chance in South Carolina so if he doesn't do well enough in those two states he will give up. Williamson is probably in for attention.
  16. Beto has dropped out. A great example of why someone should not run for President just because they did well in a race and the media likes them. If a Democrat wins the White House (........) hopefully there will be a role for him.
  17. Reminds me of that embarrassing Mueller cover. That the numbers are near 40% for Trump tells us he has a path to reelection.
  18. There's an extremely, disturbingly cultish clip of AOC that Bernie's campaign is amplifying where she essentially talks about how she had no knowledge or value as a human being until she heard his name. It freaked me the hell out. I'm too old and tired for this direct injecting of cult mentality in our society. This is what people spent years attacking Obama for when he never, ever amplified something along these lines. I am more and more concerned about the Bernie cultists and where they're heading.
  19. I just realized that media darling Will Hurd, wept over by the media as the "future of the GOP" (that always ends so well), voted against impeachment. It doesn't matter how many reporters gush and coo - Republicans still always, only look out for the party line, and are happy to see this country burn to the ground.
  20. So far this season it's been around 1.1/1.2 in 18-49. The highest-rated sitcom on ABC.
