  1. Nikki continues to have a great month presswise.
  2. Thanks to @YRfan23 and their continued efforts at telling us about new Y&R material available, some new ATWT material has also been found. Starting at about 46 minutes on disc 2, you can see the July 21, 1992 episode of ATWT. https://archive.org/details/SmokesVHSTape1120/Tape+1120+Disc+2.ISO The start of disc 3 has July 22, 1992. https://archive.org/details/SmokesVHSTape1120/Tape+1120+Disc+3.ISO The 21st used to be on Youtube - I think with an account that uploaded random '80s and '90s episodes along with other TV stuff, but I don't think the 22nd ever has. Needless to say, this is a momentous period, as it's right after Holden is mugged and has the operation which was supposed to take away his memory. Years ago Oakdalian (who I think may have also had some 1992 stuff from around this point that is no longer there) put up a short clip from July 20th, also involving Holden's story. It's good to get a little more Marland-era ATWT to help close out such a difficult year. If only even older ATWT could show up.
  3. I think Buttigieg's first poll boost was down to the media (and debates). When he fell in the polls earlier this year there wasn't much attempt at Politico to try to turn things around. I think his current boost is more down to being a more ideal candidate for Iowa (and possibly New Hampshire). The main story about his being gay that has gotten attention in recent months was about how black voters feel about his homosexuality and whether that affects his campaign, which got a lot of coverage from people who refute the idea as well as those who believe it. That issue ended up being free media for Harris, Castro, etc. Speaking of Harris and Castro, both have had major campaign shifts in recent months, yet only Harris got heavy coverage. I think there is some media bias against her, but I think another reason for the coverage is because she was meant to be a frontrunner. Many in the media pegged her as a very strong chance for a nominee when names were thrown around, her launch was highly covered as a moment to remember, her first debate got tons of coverage and it was seen as a game-changer for both her and Biden. She called herself a top-tier candidate (which she was). So that makes for a juicer, more dramatic story. It's a "what happened?" story, which gets clicks. There's no such narrative for Castro because he never happened in the first place, which is why he only gets coverage when he attacks other candidates. If she gets some good slams on Buttigieg today I could see her getting a comeback narrative, because that's also good press, and it keeps the game going. That's mainly what the media cares about. Even with Hillary, someone many in the media absolutely detested, they played mind games in the 2008 primary to keep things stretched out, helping her get more sympathy and have the comeback win in New Hampshire.
  4. Tom Selleck probably didn't say anything here he hasn't said before, but it's interesting to see him with Ted Danson as they're both asked about their soap experience. It starts around 7 minutes. (Ted doesn't say much)
  5. It's just them giving more detail about a claim she made - mostly showing a lot of comments from Obama White House people denying her lies. That's why I posted it. Here's the original tweet.
  6. Oh look, more shiny object lies from another drunk. https://www.politico.com/news/2019/11/19/stephanie-grisham-obama-notes-071562
  7. His book belly flopped didn't it?
  8. South Dakota has a new ad campaign combating meth that is called "Meth: We're On It." 500K spent on this campaign, amazingly. As if that isn't hilarious enough, here is another campaign from 2014:
  9. I don't see anyone but Biden taking South Carolina.
  10. I think it may be down to assuming few will be interested in the old material.
  11. I said that's what Trump should have said to make it look like a win for him. My apologies for not being clearer. I never said that they did. They do dominate conversation and media focus, and the poison they spew trickles into the race - it's likely one of the reasons that the early debates had candidates bashing Obama so heavily.
  12. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/11/16/20968290/obama-2020-democratic-presidential-primary
  13. I was tempted when I saw Kyle Maclachlan was involved but I don't watch anything with Patricia Heaton. I've heard repeatedly that the show is terrible and that her character is completely unlikeable. There's a very sick culture at CBS. I'm glad I have cut the channel out of most of my diet.
  14. After liberals on Twitter spent all day bitching about how much they hate Obama and how Obama is a sellout and wants them to lose, we get an election that shows exactly what he was talking about. John Bel Edwards is very conservative, but he's the right fit for Louisiana, and he will at least help some people in the state with his Medicaid expansion. His reelection also seems to have stopped a supermajority from happening in the stage leg. Twitter liberals have become the new Beltway echo chamber. They only listen to themselves and are completely unfeeling toward actual human beings. As for Trump, this was another example of just how much his ego takes precedence over common sense politics. He could have shaped this as being a win for him - saying Bel Edwards sucked up to him in order to win. Instead he made it into a personal loss.
  15. I skimmed a little of that yesterday but the whole thing made me feel disgusted. About one of the cases, anyway. I didn't read the other. None of the men he was with defended him. Clearly the more depraved you are the more Trump wants you by his side.
  16. If Buttigieg were straight he'd be a Republican, and if Bloomberg weren't from New York he'd be a Republican. I have no real doubt about it. I know some say that about Elizabeth Warren as well, but I think in her case she genuinely did move away from the party based on their callousness toward the people. Maybe I'm too generous, I don't know.
  17. Oh I think the way his campaign has treated and tried to con black voters (and even worse, doesn't even care about black voters and just pretends it does for rich whites) is awful and deserves to be exposed. Hopefully some sites that are less beholden to Bernie and to Trump will pick it up. Thanks for finding the information.
  18. Young Turks and Intercept, I just can't, but I'll take your word for it.
  19. An example of how the media has already declared victory for Trump. I will just be glad when this is over and the shambles of a primary can be over and the focus can go back on rooting Trump out.
  20. The heart attack made him even more of a martyr, and allowed his supporters like AOC to be openly cultish with less blowback. It is also a boon for the media, who do not like or trust Warren and are fonder of Sanders (likely because they know he won't keep his promises - Warren probably will).
  21. I'm not too sure they're wrong in this instance, although I lean closer to thinking the heart attack didn't change anything.
  22. I think it's going to affect the moderates more than her, I guess aside from Pete Buttigieg, who has mostly white support. If Biden keeps falling apart then I could see Patrick benefiting (at least if he'd entered a few months ago). If Biden doesn't fall apart further then I think Patrick's arrival will help shore him up.
