  1. I've seen people increasingly vocal about so-called "liberal" MSNBC working very hard to defeat Biden and help Trump. I'm not surprised, as much of the media would literally sacrifice their families to get that man 4 more years so they can keep getting money and fawning 'resistance' coverage, but it's a sad state. I try not to compare the UK and the US too much, because it's too simplistic, but I can't help myself in this case as many voices in the UK media, including very tabloid friendly, daytime talk show host personalities, have been extremely aggressive with the government over this crisis, especially with the Dominic Cummings lockdown fiasco. Meanwhile, over here, we have so many in the media and so many on the left working feverishly to lock down Trump's power grab for good.
  2. Wasn't the show likely going to go anyway because Bill Bell finally agreed to a second soap?
  3. @DaytimeFan @Cat I will look forward to any commentary you have on that High Society show - I watched a little and immediately saw that Tinsley was talking about the greatness of Harvey Weinstein (and of course the plug for Marchesa). Beyond the instant dating of material, it serves more as a reminder of just how little genuine respect or power Weinstein had in the industry by 2009 - otherwise he never would have been on a cut-rate CW show that likely only existed because of the Gossip Girl buzz of this period. I'll have to check out the rest soon. Initially when I saw the comments about Jules I thought it was the Jules on RHONY - clearly not.
  4. The mid '80s and early '90s had some memorable promos. I also enjoy this one.
  5. That's absolutely shameful. I'm so sorry.
  6. Immigration is Coulter's obsession and has been for many years. She also knows she is too old to have any real value in the party today. The same has been happening to her fellow anti-immigrant crusader and has-been Michelle Malkin. https://thebulwark.com/michelle-malkin-mother-of-groypers/
  7. This is such a clunky promo.
  8. I can understand why people mostly want to vent their rage against people who are flouting social distancing while they have stayed at home and lost freedom and money. I also get that comments like "grandma and grandpa will die" have lost any effectiveness they ever had. I just wish that so many wouldn't make blanket statements about how these idiots are all going to get sick or die. Many of them won't. That doesn't make their behavior any better. But it does mean that people who are opposed to such selfishness are more easily written off as hysterical and easy to ignore.
  9. Deep down I've never really liked Patton Oswalt very much, so I'm not especially wounded, but how do you go from making cheap personal attacks against the Angry Video Game Nerd guy for not wanting to see the new Ghostbusters to going on Joe Rogan's show, a proud racist and Trump supporter? How does that work?
  10. @DramatistDreamer that was such a lovely little clip - the melancholy of it reminded me of what SNL used to do many years ago. I don't miss a lot of the material of those years, but I do miss that aspect. I hope they will bring more back. If any of you want to see Fred Willard's 1978 episode, it is repeating tonight at 10 EST. Sadly only the 60 minute edit, but there are some good sketches I am hoping will show up.
  11. In UK news, Dominic Cummings, who is to their government essentially what Steve Bannon desperately tried and failed to be to ours, continues to be mired in a scandal about breaking lockdown rules to go stay with his partner and parents (they claim it was to get childcare...). Not helping matters is that Durham, the area he went to, had an outbreak after his arrival. Fortunately for him, if not for anyone else, he has Boris Johnson and his flunkies fully under his thumb. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/22/dominic-cummings-coronavirus-and-lockdown-a-timeline
  12. I think Oakdalian also used to have this episode up a decade ago but I don't know if it's been on their channel for a long time.
  13. What gets me is people used his involvement with Blsaey-Ford as reason to believe Reade. I hope now they will be more cautious. The thing is I don't blame people for not wanting to trust "old media," given how much they have damaged and destroyed our fabric over the last few decades (at least), but this means too much credit is given to the likes of Grim, Halper, etc. Ideally this will teach more people to see and to ignore opportunists and game-players...and also to desperately avoid anything being pushed by ex-Bernie Sanders supporters.
  14. And her enablers/proverbial pimps continue to back away.
  15. I think some people are worried it will further reinforce the idea that the party takes black voters for granted - the "Biden and Trump are just the same" takes have blown up again today. The speculation about him choosing Klobuchar as a VP doesn't help.
  16. In a Breakfast Club interview he told CtG that if black people don't know the difference between him and Trump then "they ain't black."
  17. I thought that might have Lisa Brown since he said people were asking for it. Oh well. It's not a bad group - I wish Jean Carol was there.
  18. An artist on Twitter has been making a comic book cover for each of Madonna's albums. @Vee he has also been making covers for Kate Bush and Bjork.
  19. There's a "this day in" type account for GH that gets some very vaunted writers and producers in the replies.
  20. This was probably already posted over the years, but I'd never seen it. Viki Buchanan meets Rick James!
  21. I've been trying not to flood the thread with regurgitation about Tara Reade, as every ever-changing claim from her has been debunked or twisted into knots (not that it matters, as the people who "believe" her only do so because of an agenda), but this is incredibly disgusting - her seeming lies about her education may be causing cases she was involved in to be re-examined. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/05/21/tara-reade-biden-expert-testimony-274460 I'm not surprised that toxic grifters and/or generally sick people like Krystal Ball, Nathan Robinson, Katie Halper, the Bruenigs, Matt Taibbi, were so eager to push her, but never again can anyone let the media continue to push Ryan Grim, Ari Melber, Chris Hayes, Rich McHugh, or Ben Smith as some kind of breathless crusaders of righteousness. They exploited a deluded, likely mentally unwell woman for their own gain, and they are now doing backflips away from their actions. They are no better than the likes of Sean Hannity or Laura Ingraham. And they will be back soon with enough smear, to get their man Trump elected and to get their faces out there as some kind of crusading heroes.
