One Life to Live Tribute Thread
@slick jones @dc11786thank you for the help with the dates. I will credit you on the video. The judge will always be Rebedow from Oz to me. A lot of this period is a blur. I'm not sure how I would feel if I could watch it all day by day. Shelley was too gorgeous and charismatic to make you believe Delilah wasn't already a huge star. I didn't know she and Brad were an item... Wasn't this also the period that Liz Hubbard had a bit role. I guess Jean Arley or whoever was in charge at the time was doing the type of guest stunt casting that many other soaps would do later on.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread
I had this in my files, from an old Youtube download, and I decided to upload it before I lost it. I checked to see if it was still on Youtube (it's not, as far as I could see). It was originally uploaded by a Dark Shadows fan, based on the title, highlighting the appearance of Dennis Patrick and Nancy Barrett, and is clearly edited to spotlight them. Does anyone know what the month or date might have been?

Primetime Soaps
Some interviews here with Larry Hagman, Howard Keel, Donna Mills, Gordon Thomson and Joan Collins ( @DaytimeFan ) about villains. Linda Gray has a longer interview about directing. Some good stuff.

My best to you @Huntress. I guess at least it sounds like they are trying to plan carefully. Meanwhile I look at the likes of Boris and I think, badly overused as the cliche became, I'm watching a Black Mirror setup.

Primetime Soaps
They did this in some of my favorite Knots Landing openings, so I can't complain too much, but it does seem very blatant here. Such a generic sequence, period. Imagine a world where this was a huge hit and Linda Hamilton was on it for years. Beatrice Straight was such a great actress - I kind of wish it had been a hit just to see more of her on a primetime soap.

I don't think he's unstoppable (although I do think he is very formidable and Biden was one of the few who could have beaten him), but I think he will continue to try to tease a run to raise money and get attention. I don't think he will be here by 2024, and if he is I don't think he will be running...but I don't want to assume anything at this point. Not surprised about the Flynn pardon. Fauxgressives like Kyle Kulinski were begging him to pardon Assange and Snowden (others in that bracket like Greenwald long seem to have given up pretending to care). I think they know it's never happening and never was but will not give up the grift. Any time I hear about what a champion of free speech he is I choke. In some interesting House news.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Speaking of Janet, I saw that Lonette McKee called her out on Twitter, and then some people were talking about how in Alan's talk with Napiera/Lauren/Cassandra there was some mention of Lonette on ATWT. Was there?- Netflix: One Day at a Time
Not a surprise, but I really just want them to get a wrapup episode at least. The last live episode works perfectly well as a finale, but they want to do more, have ideas, and fought like hell every season. They deserve a chance to say goodbye. And this season was their best yet, so it's not even if as if they were going out with a whimper.- Dark Shadows Discussion Thread
RIP Malcolm Marmorstein. https://deadline.com/2020/11/malcolm-marmorstein-dead-obituary-screenwriter-petes-dragon-dark-shadows-barnabas-collins-was-92-1234621513/ I'm confused over his claim that Barnabas never would have killed innocents, as that was exactly who early Barnabas was, but I never had any interest in that film so who am I to complain.- The Politics Thread
The tweet I posted may not have been reliable. This one has more info.- The Politics Thread
I notice that media darlings like Marco Rubio, Matt Gaetz and Josh Hawley are posturing about being anti-war (they aren't) and trying to work up outrage about Biden having Harvard, Yale, etc. graduates in his Cabinet. It's all mostly an attempt to get social media accolades and protective posturing as brave and bold for when Senate Republicans block a lot of Biden's Cabinet nominees. I don't know if the "acting" designation can still be used (or if the courts will even allow it now that a Democrat is in the White House), but hopefully Biden's legal people are ready to gear up.- Another World Discussion Thread

That was the Sebastian Shaw character, wasn't it (I wonder if Claremont had any inspiration...). I remember the first episode back being very tense, with Roger being in a central role and such a sense of foreboding. I think Roger left not long after... One of my favorite parts of the Leviathan saga was seeing Roger finally wake up to terrible things happening around him and taking a major part in the action. The perpetually clueless present day Collinwood denizens were always too much for me to suspend in disbelief terms in those last few years.- Dark Shadows Discussion Thread
Ah. I should rewatch that sometime. I did like some new elements (like trailblazing feminist/vampire goddess Roxanne Drew), but so much felt like a retread, and they weren't helped by KLS leaving midway.- Dark Shadows Discussion Thread
Joan also had time off for a play during the Cassandra story, which led the show to create the story of Cassandra/Angelique sending Liz into a living death. I think Vestoff went to work on the film version of 1776. It was nice she at least got that brief spot in the 1841PT but it was disappointing she never appeared after that one episode. There were long periods of Karlen barely appearing - he was only in the 1897 story for a few weeks, then somewhat infrequently appeared as Willie near the end of the Leviathan story and off and on in 1970PT (to give a reason why Barnabas couldn't be there, then he was killed off not too long after the filming for House of Dark Shadows wrapped up). I can't remember if Willie was in the Daphne/Gerard haunting story at all. Roger Davis was originally meant to play the role Karlen played in 1840 - that was his first quasi-leading man part and romantic part on DS, and I guess he did well enough to where they had him do the same in 1841PT. I wish they'd given him that opportunity earlier on. I can't remember whether it's true or not but I swear I read David Henesy left the show and he and his family moved to California in the middle of the 1840 story. That would make sense, as recreating the Quentin/Beth haunting story with David and Hallie Stokes in pivotal roles quickly fizzled out once they got to 1840. Hallie/Carrie then had some airtime with Tom Happer - he was the son of a Thayer David character (Mordecai Grimes) who was some sort of farmer or something, and the two had a romance. Bless her heart, Kathy Cody could not act, and her airtime was very limited. I think in 1841PT they had her 1840 character's double as having psychic powers, which at least gave her something different to do.- The Politics Thread

VHSGoodiesWA, who sometimes uploaded soap episodes, replied to a comment from me saying they took down their AMC episodes (they had already taken down their OLTL episodes) because they are wary of strikes - they also mentioned Pannoni4 is gone due to strikes. If any of you have the space or time, please consider downloading all of the videos from classic channels like HamiltonBernique, VintageAMC, VickRobCal or bluerose8508. I am not sure how much longer they will be around.- All My Children Tribute Thread

I guess we'll never know, but I get the feeling Edmonds left in the show's last 6 months or year. He mostly just makes a handful of appearances from then on - not many in the Daphne/Gerard story, only in 1840 long enough to be killed off after a few weeks, and then only in one or two flashbacks for 1841PT.- The Politics Thread
