  1. They are going to try to burn books to make a statement. I don't really believe there is hope left for this country, to be honest, but the only chance of that happening is for the public to either ignore the corporate media at large, or topple the power structure and completely rebuild. They have shown over and over this year alone what a danger they are to us all.
  2. Very sorry for his loved ones and so many who worked with him at Y&R. I never had much use for John Abbott as a character, but Jerry was a very warm presence who had a great deal of easy chemistry with those around him, especially the Abbott kids. Many lovely moments with Beth Maitland and Eileen Davidson and Brenda Epperson are in my head as I type this. I still remember the twinkle in his eye as he smiled.
  3. I had wondered if they might have had plans to make more of a real Betsy/Tad relationship until they and Frank Runyeon agreed to part ways, which would have meant a grosser interpretation of Tad.
  4. This is going on in America right now yet the media cares more about faking milk prices and the left cares more about Harvey Milk having a ship named after him.
  5. Ian has been dead weight for years, and Adam Woodyatt has been phoning in his performances for a long time. The character is no longer needed. I just wish the show could do the same with Phil. Unfortunately when the talentless hacks Kate Oates and Jon Sen are still there, and those at the BBC who have killed the show are still there, nothing will change.
  6. I see a lot of people gloating over these leaks on Twitter because they think Kevin Feige is going to cry, or whatever, but I mostly just feel bad for the fans who genuinely wanted to be surprised and now, a month or more in advance, will know everything, whether they want to or not.
  7. Cleland was a war hero who was smeared in 2002 by media darlings like Ann Coulter, and the campaign ops involving current "reasonable" Republicans who litter cable news and Twitter. Never forget that hate and bigotry ran the GOP long before Trump arrived, or how much they hate all of us.
  8. An interesting look at how the show is handling kissing scenes: https://thespinoff.co.nz/tv/05-11-2021/why-chris-warner-is-pashing-a-piece-of-perspex/
  9. A followup on CNN's misleading propaganda piece on inflation and milk:
  10. I still thought it was a clever twist - more interesting than anything else they've done with the character. I hope he will return with a good recast. If Kim is staying I just hope they will deal with how isolated she is.
  11. @Franko thanks, great detective work! I'm sure the original uploader will appreciate the date.
  12. Thanks. I wonder if Brad was intended to be Roger here - or maybe that was John, I don't know. It's like they split Roger in half, as John is the dark villain whose women issues define him (as shown in that drinking scene above) while Brad is supposed to be an all-powerful sexual figure, I guess....????? Maybe they should have waited until Michael Zaslow's time at GL wound down and cast him as Brad, rather than a guy who is basically Brad Dourif without the charisma. Hell, Brad Dourif and Powers Boothe had more sexual chemistry in the Jonestown film around this point than this guy has with anybody. Sorry to beat a dead horse, I'm sure the guy was nice in real life, I just get PTSD any time I go back and watch his character.
  13. That's fascinating. Thank you for your efforts in making these available.
  14. I tend to be confused about the Brad/Dee timeline, if they ever even had a relationship. I know he came on before the Peter Simon character (Ian) died, and was initially conning Lisa - I can't remember, from the old clips, if John was already chasing after Dee when she was with Ian, or if all this started when Ian died. It's a bit odd now, looking back, to go directly into a love quad after Dee was supposed to be traumatized from Ian dying on top of her. And I don't understand why they needed the involvement with Annie - wasn't she meant to be in love with Jeff at this time? I was surprised he wasn't mentioned or shown anywhere in these episodes. Poor Annie seems so matronly. Then after she and John marry, he goes on trial for rape as she thinks she's sleeping with Brad, or whatever that was...I just don't remember if she ever actually ends up with Brad. Was he gone by the time the Dobsons returned? Or did the Dobsons write him out when they came back? Sometimes I wonder why ATWT let Peter Reckell go, but I can kind of see it here - he's very pretty, but also stumbly and a bit generic. He had the same problem at Knots. I wonder if Bo was just the perfect fit for him. I agree that Suzanne Davidson is very likeable, and easy to watch. I can see why Meg Ryan said she initially got a bad response from fans in taking over (I know there was a Betsy between them). My favorite part of that Nancy scene is when Joyce says, "Am I so terrible?" and Nancy....just.....pauses, before not even answering the question. Bone-chilling. That's what people watch soaps for, not "Stewart Mining." (I got a good laugh out of that little name card)
  15. Does Milo even appear on the show anymore? I'd imagine he aged out of his wank purposes for Frank.
  16. I'm glad he's gone, but this also reads like ABC cutting their losses, knowing Ingo being written out won't hurt them much, and keeping Steve Burton. I'd be surprised if this is the first time Ingo said anything on social media over the line. Anyway, I'm sure a job with Kirk Cameron awaits.
  17. Thanks @victoria foxton. This seems to be the end of one episode and then another, with a few minutes of GL in between. I think that GL episode is on Youtube so that may help us with the date. That first episode has a transition shot between that googly-eyed, mustached baddie in the James story (who ends up kidnapping Barbara eventually - one of her 500 kidnappings in these years) and Brad, also googly-eyed and mustached. One was meant to be wicked, the other was meant to be our hero. Funnily enough I think the baddie is much more charismatic and attractive even though he is obviously not meant to be. What a live wire Joyce is. You can just feel the tortured energy from her and even as you are sympathetic toward her, you aren't surprised that Nancy, who spent her life trying not to be that type of woman, absolutely detests her. That ATWT fired Barbara Rodell and let Helen Wagner quit in this period, while parading a series of ingenues so wan they make Rosanna look like Lucinda Walsh, is truly sad. Did they intend to dress Dee like Alice in Wonderland? The dress, the headband, everything. Jacquie Schulz has an appeal to her, it's just what they do with her that is so dull. Nice to see more of early Lyla, and of course Cricket, with her special line readings... Veleka Gray reminds me of Lois Nettleton. @Mitch you might enjoy this one too.
  18. Pretty much sums up the media coverage. I don't think the public cares about Afghanistan, but the media will never let it go, because Biden took away what made them feel special - "saving" the poor brown people - as well as book deals, and the lucrative ties they had to the military-industrial complex. It gives them an easy narrative to hang their negatives on - they can will people into believing Afghanistan was the reason, because they control the copy. I'm not saying this to claim that Biden was wrong to pass the infrastructure bill or to say it will be pointless. Something had to pass. The media that lies about the economy and obsesses over a Trump-loving family who must bathe in milk will downplay this and say it's a gift to Republicans and so on, but at least it's a building block. A lot of parents don't want their kids to learn actual history. They want what makes them feel special. That's the allure of the anti-CRT hysteria. It makes parents feel like loving and tough guys and gals who are fighting the out of touch elites. It doesn't matter if you say CRT isn't being taught, because they need that high anyway.
  19. I hope so. I think Manchin and Sinema will drag as long as possible. I'm glad something, anything passed, but the way the infrastructure bill passed sets up a very ugly path for more progressive legislation.
  20. Look, everybody - MORE can-kicking!
  21. I did not realize what an open secret this was until around the time Kirk Douglas died. Michael's response really says it all.
  22. That is still on Robert Sharp's channel, if anyone wants to see the original upload.
  23. When I watched the interview, Eileen reminded me in certain moments of some of my aunts and my grandmother (some of whom watched ATWT) who have been gone a long time. It makes me feel emotional. I'm glad she seemed to be enjoying the moments and while the interviewing style was very clunky, it didn't feel hurried or forced. Most of all I'm just glad that we got to have the goodbye with Lisa that Chris Goutman was too spiteful to let us have.
  24. Before Don left, he asked for Eileen's number, so I guess she really has been out of the loop. I do hope this can lead to more. And yeah I'd be thrilled to see Larry. I do agree with the criticisms of Alan, and I don't think we need to pretend he is better than he is - it's just I always end up having mixed feelings because he is pretty much the only reason we're even seeing these people.
