  1. It goes on and on, and this is just the beginning. https://www.texastribune.org/2022/08/16/keller-isd-removes-books/ https://www.cbsnews.com/news/wisconsin-school-board-votes-in-favor-of-pride-flag-preferred-pronoun-ban/
  2. @Vee Thanks. That was lovely. I'm glad we got some glimpse of Maureen O'Brien playing Vicky again, and probably our closest chance of getting a glimpse of the Myth Makers.
  3. NBC/Politico figure doing flat out stenography for loathsome Ron Johnson. What a surprise.
  4. A "progressive" has recently gotten a lot of attention online for being involved in a mapping project of Jewish donors in Boston (which has since been used by white supremacists) and for going on CCP-media to decry Pelosi visiting Taiwan. Sure enough, she was glowingly profiled by NYT not that long ago.
  5. There are some interesting results out of Alaska. Much as I'd love to see Palin booted back to hell, it's way too soon to tell about the Congressional seat, but the state legislative seats are worth a gander as well.
  6. Johnson tends to outperform polls, but his saying he'd support the Obergefell/Loving ratification bill makes me think the bleeding from independents is real.
  7. Right wing Beltway leeches absolutely seething and bitter.
  8. I don't really like Fetterman or his supporters, and I think he gets a lot of credit just because he has one of the dumbest opponents ever (who could, sadly, still win), but Oz truly is beyond parody. This gives me a laugh, especially the way he says "shortage of salsa."
  9. Thanks for the articles. I had no idea just how close Anne was to such a disastrous choice before she got AW. Another reminder that the happy endings of Hollywood films are never real...
  10. All of which the media laps up, complete with "Gosh, he's so brilliant...how does he get away with what we let him get away with at every turn???" articles (Politico has one out now apparently).
  11. Of course it's a Washington Post "reporter."
  12. I watched some of the Kandi and Marlo confrontations, and the problem for me is they just are very draining and have no real energy, especially from Marlo's end. The vibe doesn't mix. I would say "real" beef and not staged drama is a good thing, but this is an instance where reality is a little too real for me to conflicts I avoid being near in life, or seeing on TV.
  13. So we've gone from generic teen dramas to generic fake reality shows for middle-aged men who can find better content elsewhere. All these mergers and buyouts are making TV a wasteland.
  14. For once someone at CNN actually tried to be a journalist, grilling grifter Andrew Yang.
  15. Thanks. You too! I do still watch Home & Away but I guess this thread will now become dormant. If I ever start going back and watching Neighbours from the start, as I keep meaning to, then it will be more active. Maybe someday the show can be revived and we'll have a lot to hope for or speculate on... I guess at least a former Family Affair actress joining Corrie means the other show we talked about is relevant again.
  16. She also supposedly said she would only return if she got to play a different role, which they would not do.
  17. That's about how I was. Teri Hatcher checked out of her part (and became frighteningly thin) and the show decided to just spend every week reuniting cast members of a random show from 1982 rather than writing a script.
  18. Thanks so much @vetsoapfan no wonder I kept thinking I knew her. She was my favorite part of Lois & Clark, before I quit watching that show.
  19. The people who replied are some of the most clear-minded people you'll find on here. I don't think anyone really believes we'll be seeing this material, one way or another. Any random episode or clip from earlier years that shows up is a miracle.
  20. Sadly, when it comes to soap, dismissive is what you always get. Considering this is the paper that ran a puff piece on Hitler, I guess we got off lucky.
  21. JFP seemed to give Maggie the same treatment she gave many heroines - once the decision to make her mostly just exist for an FOJ hunk went down like a lead balloon with fans, she just threw the character away and moved on (with Sofia essentially taking Maggie's place on the canvas while Maggie became a bitch). I remember Eddie Drueding tearing into the Nick/Maggie/Tomas "triangle." Great stuff.
  22. Thanks @RavenWhitney @vetsoapfan I was also wondering about Anita Gillette... @Faulkner That was a nice obit.
  23. Unfortunately I think similar to the Catholic Church exodus, those who are left are more and more extreme and take over various levers of power, with plenty of help from the media that profits from their rise. Even now, you have lunatics out there marching with full tactical gear and just being casually referred to as "Trump supporters."
