  1. Two more 1982 promos. (the volume varies on this and as it goes along can suddenly get loud) I missed a few bits but I think you got most of what I saw, and some of what I didn't. They talked about Nancy Addison. Malcolm still misses her, and Helen says she still feels like Nancy has never left. I think Malcolm also said he worked with Nancy before the show (although maybe that was Faith Catlin), as well as Ilene. Malcolm said he and Helen didn't work together on the first day of taping as it was split between home scenes and hospital scenes. Malcolm also talked about the location footage in that episode and how rare it was. And he pointed out that Ryan's Hope was the first soap set in a real city. Alan asked them if they felt the show got worse when ABC bought it. Helen said she didn't.
  2. McConnell has also had falls. McConnell fell recently at D.C. airport prior to Wednesday’s freeze-up (nbcnews.com) McConnell will be replaced by someone who is as bad or worse. I do wonder why he is hanging on, but clearly many who get in there just don't want to leave - or aren't allowed. I am not going to say anything negative about McConnell, but I will say you can really see the difference between the two parties when you compare the reaction to the absolute glee so many on the right had about John Fetterman and Paul Pelosi.
  3. So much of Sinead's image in the US will always be associated with her SNL appearance. There was such a visceral anger toward her, personal threats against her (including being followed after the show ended), and nothing but disdain from the show itself (there were several Lorne-patented mocking sketches, Tim Robbins, that free speech hero and the host that week, didn't even acknowledge her, and the next week had Joe Pesci giving a truly disgusting monologue about her). She never tried to backtrack, even when it probably felt like the whole country was against her. And she was completely right.
  4. @dc11786 Never knew about the lost story plans for Rita Mae. Thanks. The atmosphere Marland wanted for the show seems very different than what it became (the more aggressive sexual content seems like it's left over from his New Day in Eden stint).
  5. Don't forget Helen Gallagher's going to be on Locher Room tomorrow.
  6. If this were 1995, I would agree, but today... I do get what you are saying.
  7. I would imagine Deirdre is just happy for the paycheck at this point.
  8. There's nothing Deidre Hall can say or do that would make a difference. This rests on Sony and Corday.
  9. Thanks. I'm glad Melanie is mostly settled into that face.
  10. @Donna L. Bridges already posted this in the obit thread but I wanted to post here too as I think Pamela Blair's LOVING role was probably her most memorable for her soap work. Admittedly, I have barely seen it, so I'm just going off what was said here. Some of you who have seen more may have some thoughts. Pamela Blair Dead: ‘A Chorus Line’, ‘All My Children’ Actor Was 73 – Deadline
  11. Some rare 1982 promos here.
  12. Nate Hochman, who received exquisitely tailored profiles from the likes of New Republic and wrote a big New York Times piece insisting Republicans were now the party of Barstool, has been dumped by the frilly fascist's campaign due to mass layoffs, and also, maybe, possibly, making and sending out anti-Semetic imagery. https://www.axios.com/2023/07/25/desantis-campaign-video-nazi-symbol-sonnenrad These figures keep getting laundered in the press but they can never hide who they are.
  13. There's a tweet over GH now using "temporary writers" getting a lot of negative responses from various actors, pointing out that those writers are "scabs." I do wish more soap people were pointing out how difficult the situation is for soap writers and performers in a strike (the closest we got was Ron Carlivati's pity party).
  14. Weigel had a very huffy response to some of this.
  15. The story I read was that Irna tried to kill Liz off because of her hostility toward Jane House, but viewer backlash over what they sensed was coming (as Liz was in the hospital for a while) made P&G step in. House then decided to leave rather than keep staying under the situation with Irna.
  16. The most depressing aspect of this story is knowing just how common this behavior likely has been on soaps from the start, and we're only hearing about it due to Deadline. I can't even imagine what the cast and crew are going through - their show is dying, has been dying for a long time, and they have to put up with so much harassment, knowing their main boss, who goes on about the show being a family, can't or won't care. What would Ted and Betty Corday say? I don't even want to speculate about which actor suffered what abuse. It's just devastating.
  17. I can see Woods as Isabelle, if she was glammed up enough. There's a resemblance with Dabney too. Regarding Richard - Corey Page had a boyish charm, under the petulance, but I think he, like Danny, was not suited to be a long term character.
  18. I'd forgotten all that, or why they even split up. I know Kevin wasn't paired with Laura until more recent years but everything before that in his GH return was a blue.
  19. Based on her AMC work, Meg could play warm, and based on her Doctors work, she could certainly play meddling. Dabney is the only Isabelle I ever saw until more recent years. She was the Isabelle I saw die, and it was a heartbreaker even though I barely knew of her or Cabot. A part of me thinks she didn't fit what Isabelle had become, but I wonder if many fans simply didn't care about Isabelle without her. It's almost impossible for me to see the three ladies as the same character. I know they did give an explanation for why Celeste's Isabelle was so different. Holm did at least carry on the richest-of-the-rich airs of Dabney, just in a colder form. I have a lot of respect for Pat Barry and her longevity in the business, but I don't think she had the gravitas to play what Isabelle was supposed to be - there's a reason she was cast as Miss Sally on GL. It would have led some viewers to say, "Why is Myra in Corinth?" but I might have considered casting Elizabeth Lawrence instead of Pat Barry.
  20. I think when Livvie was evil, she had Kevin pricked with a needle that drove him insane. I felt like that was one of many plots that were stalled out to no end, another being Livvie being replaced by some sort of Nell doppleganger, complete with wondering whether Jack was going to bang her. (I thought Kelly Monaco did some decent work in that part). The Alison/Rafe tedium and how unbearable both characters were is what turned me off PC, but what they did with Lucy and Kevin wouldn't be far behind. And they never have gotten back together, likely never will.
  21. It's never a good idea, ever, ever, ever, for family members to get involved in social media comments.
  22. I was looking through old commercials and saw this one with Augusta Dabney in her toughest acting role - having to talk about how buying US News and World Report is just like having Reagan talk to her.
  23. I would almost say he wants to destroy the site deliberately but he is just that deluded.
  24. The sassiest ozempic user ever has now turned to the even more naked Nazi pandering phase of the primary. And they used one of those damn emo woe Kate Bush covers too.
