The music in the Lee/Marilyn scenes is another example of how wonderful the score in the Rauch era was. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JWnhJTCI60&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

This may be one of the earliest Gottlieb clips I have seen. I have a very strong wish to see complete episodes of Rauch's last months and Gottlieb's early months. There is no EP credit on this. It's still the opening credits of late Rauch, and Rafe is mentioned, but I don't remember Gottlieb creating Jason. Then again this doesn't seem like Gottlieb's Jason - he's more of a one-note punk. He also has one of the most horribly wandering accents ever - in one scene he goes from his normal voice to Guys and Dolls to Madonna's "British" accent. The pointless car crash is also more like Rauch.

Rituals
I didn't even notice Renee Jones. Who did Vozoff play? So the reveal was after Mike learned of Lacey's one-nighter, right? I can't remember how the story went, the order. MBE did seem a bit checked out in her later soap work. She had a lot of sincerity here and in some of her other performances over the years. I noticed in one of the early clips Mike mentions I Love Lucy, which was in one of the early recaps as some fetish of his. I guess that ended with the writer changes.

This is from a November 1986 Digest. Is this Uta Hagen on OLTL? SOD once again gets in a dig (this is the third dig at her OLTL run I've seen in a soap magazine).

I always get the older women on the show confused. Sally looks a little like Serena from Bewitched.

It may just be best to not even talk about politics. I've decided I'm not going to.

The Doctors Discussion Thread
In terms of the show's quality, more than one actor has spoken that in the last years the backstage atmosphere was unhappy and that they felt they were a B or C list show. But onscreen, although I have only seen a few episodes, I am struck just about every time (the exception being an early 1982 episode which didn't do a lot for me) at the strength of the cast and the energy in the scenes. Lydia Bruce, Jim Pritchett, Jada Rowland, David O'Brien, Liz Hubbard, Meg Mundy, these are not only strong actors, but also very unique. In an era where everyone seems the same, and even on soaps of the early 80's when everyone began seeming the same, they stand out. They could have carried a show for a long time. The younger cast also has some standouts, and the writing, when it is good, is fun, flip, yet also down-to-earth, and always remembers the characters are human beings. In the proper hands this would be a top-rated show today.

Can't you just imagine that special day where Mikey Jerome tries to give Beverlee McKinsey acting tips.

"Secret Storm" memories.
Well if it makes you feel any better, one of the first SOD OLTL recaps to mention Asa called him "Asser."

Sorry about the scan - I know the second one in particular is not good. I hope it was readable. I'm surprised that no one at SOD interviewed the writers at this time but you're right, I don't think they did. It's funny that not too long after The Doctors, NBC had Nancy on another medical show with not too great ratings. I wonder if that was a coincidence.

I've heard much crazier names in real life than Mignon Sentell. From a November 1982 Digest.- Love Is a Many Splendored Thing
A November 1982 Digest catchup on the cast. For some reason I couldn't get the first page to load but all it was was 1982-era photos of Veleka Gray, Leslie Charleson, Donna Mills, Ed Power. This was put together by Linda Susman.- ALL: Temporary Replacements
