  1. It's a shame that his return to GL got killed just as it was really starting to pick up steam.
  2. Sadly that would be one of her better casting decisions. If "Auntie Ri Ri" is being criticized so heavily at DC I know that she is a mess. To get back to your point about Michael Tylo - they tried him at one soap after another and it never really worked out. I guess on paper this might have been interesting but Blade seemed to be one of many male characters in this time period who was so poorly conceived (Jed Sanders, Kurt Costner, among others).
  3. It always makes me sad to think about, especially when the "writers" in the Bell family now are remarkably talentless, although Brad Bell at least seems to care - MAB only wants fawning press attention. From what Jamey Giddens said at DC, she rarely visits the studio.
  4. Emily Van Camp is so dull.

  6. Thanks for finding that. I can't really see even now why Michael Tylo was cast in a dual role.
  7. Thank you for telling me. I just read Teresa's version so figured there was another side, as her version was essentially being Mother Teresa. I am waiting for the second season to be on Netflix (I guess they're in season 4 or 5 now) but if it never is perhaps Bravo will show it in marathons. I just don't have the DVR space...
  8. I was reading an old (old as in earlier this year) In Touch Life Us Weekly Style magazine with Teresa and her kids in a photo shoot and cover (all while saying publicity has ruined her life of course) and she went on about bitter conflicts with her brother and how her brother and his nasty wife were trashing her in order to get publicity, the brawl at the christening party was so out of character for Joe, and this had ruined their relationship as siblings and the Joe/Teresa marriage, hurt their parents, etc. Was this ever resolved? On the show, who do you think came off worse? Joe and Teresa are still together aren't they? I can't remember.
  9. Hadn't seen this before. It's nice to remember when Ian was a somewhat positive character. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kkBGaOClvc&feature=mfu_channel&list=UL
  10. The first time I saw that clip I wondered if it was a two-way mirror or something, and if the Motor Lodge was a specially designed house of torture for those who sin.
  11. I wonder why they never let her mention Chuckie. Chuckie still being alive could have been a very good story, especially since that was around the same time nefarious things were happening at the hospital (Sabrina being taken). I always hoped they might have Lisa go off to live with Marcy at the end, or have Cris LeBlanc return to take Lisa off. It's so ridiculous that he did a cameo on GL and yet nothing for ATWT. Sadly I would guess Goutman and P&G's issues with Eileen made them unwilling to do anything for her, beyond that anniversary episode.
  12. I think it was a mistake to just pretend Chuckie never existed, especially in the Scott storyline.
  13. Hazel looks like she's on her way to a Reefer Madness showing.
  14. Jo: I've wondered about this deaf/mute friend of mine...does he like...neon lights?

  16. saynotoursoap very kindly uploaded almost 30 minutes of moments from January and February 1979. This is the first time I've ever seen Margo Horton, and it's one of the earliest glimpses available of Chris Koshiteck. I always liked Josh Taylor until the...changes of recent years, and this clip reminded me of why. He has such a rugged, soulful quality to his work, very understated. Speaking of understated, Susan Seaforth gives a lovely performance in the scene where she tells Neil that Rebecca and her baby are dead. I wonder why the show never wrote in a baby for Doug and Julie. That might have provided some interesting story, instead of all the histrionic twists they seemed to take not long after this (this wasn't very long before the scar story was it?). I know this has been discussed before but when did Doug and Julie find out that Dougie was Doug's son? These clips also have some beautiful singing from Patty Weaver, and a quick glimpse of David and Scotty. All these characters are still viable if DAYS would remember them. I know Patty Weaver has retired but she could possibly do a few episodes. Was this when Margo was dying? How long exactly after this did all the high-profile exits (like Laura) begin? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-j7wu0g9iU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVb-p6o4Qb4
  17. saynotoursoap uploaded a rare 1954 episode featuring the enthralling story where the syndicate were using the twin sister of Arthur's dead wife to try to drive Jo out. It's good to finally get to actually see Hazel. Her insecurities and blind rage towards Jo - Jo has to be a fake, the mere idea of Jo makes her sick - jump off the screen. She's coarse and crude and yet this works beautifully in contrast to pure and good Jo. The scene where Jo says to herself that she just can't hate Hazel, she even pities her, really sums up the appeal of Jo, and how Mary Stuart always seemed to manage to cut out any potential saccharine or sanctimony. It also gets to the humanity soaps no longer have - there IS a way out for Hazel, she just won't take it. I love that this starts out with Hazel outside, alone, thinking, and then Jo does the same when Hazel goes inside. This is all very cheaply put together, of course, but I actually think this adds to the power of the scenes and draws you in. I especially like that rickety old "outdoor" set. I wish they'd cast Mary Patton on GL as some relation of Bert's. She reminds me of Charita Bauer. I hope that people who want to make new soaps will watch this and see how effective 15 minute soaps can be. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrRKo-Ec-vE
  18. AMC promo about 10 minutes into this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qB6BVpTkqsc&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL This has about a minute, towards the end of the clip, from a mid-1991 episode. Tim and Harold finding someone in a tunnel (?). Not sure of this story.
  19. Another treat from the wonderful saynotoursoap - the first 3-4 minutes of a 1971 episode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rejHXWbLiZc&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
  20. saynotoursoap uploaded the Loving 1991 opening. I prefer this to OLTL's similar opening that ran from 91-95. It seems more sleek and less tacky. I didn't know Lewis Arlt or Kathleen Tolan wrote for Loving. I don't know if it's the same Kathleen Tolan who traumatized me on Ryan's Hope (as Mary Ryan #3) or not. Is that Genie Francis in the court scene, with Jeremy? Such bad hair/clothes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xoYmr7a8Po&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
