  1. March 1974 TV Radio Mirror
  2. Ashley was a better actress, but all I thought the character did, after a promising start, was trip over her lower lip, as Billy twitched and Jill wrung her hands and plotted. It bothered me at the time, especially the way Billy treated Jill.
  3. To me Kruger played it the way Bashioum would have - very sullen. Mac was so solemn it was just tough for me to ever invest in her, although the jackass Billy didn't help.
  4. Freudian slip! It probably is a rare shot...I think they only had that one and one or two others of her during her run.
  5. Thanks for reading - I have some other recaps I'll post when I get them together. Sorry that they're out of order...
  6. I always felt like the story with Amanda and Ralph was a bad idea for the Mac character. It was just more misery for her, the last thing she needed when the actress seemed so dour already (and so was the recast).
  7. What were the other stories going on at the time of the million loss?
  8. Were there any story plans which were changed because Victoria Rowell returned towards the end of the drinking story?
  9. Yes, she was still playing Callie when she died. I never understood why they made Olivia so unpleasant in her later years on the show. The wrangling with Malcolm over Little Nate, for instance.
  10. What did you think of...what was her name...Alex? And there was another woman with Neil, when he was drinking. How long did she stay around?
  11. She also looks and reacts a lot like Barbara Luna in that ad. She never looks the same in any two shots. And wow she was a stunningly beautiful woman. She's a little exotic compared to Lisa Peluso - it's not the same, clearly, but I wonder if they got any criticism similar to OLTL with the Mia/Kassie switch. Probably not. I can't remember. Didn't Frankie say something during Olive's run about how he was filming someone for a documentary, he was filming an ambulance or something, and he saw a person dying, and he wished that he had been able to save the man's life (which led him to become a doctor)? Didn't this have to do with some relative of Simone's or Mia's? Or am I making that up?
  12. She sang several times on the show. She had a beautiful voice. I don't think Siena ever sang. Michelle was great on Family Matters too. She seemed to live a very full life but everyone should miss such a talent. In some ways she reminds me of the rarely used Tatyana Ali.
  13. Michelle died soon after joining. She'd been very ill - I don't know if she knew it was terminal - when she took the role, but kept this to herself and her family. Y&R did a tribute to her, which I thought was very classy. She had a beautiful smile. If she'd stayed on I think she might have been a star for them. As for Callie, I thought her story dragged on and on. I can't remember how long she stayed. Was she still there when Neil was a drunk? I know the woman from Savannah was there at that point. Wasn't there another woman between them? They had an actor come in as her shady ex or something, or her pimp, I can't remember. He left to take a role on Port Charles as Ellen's ex-husband or ex-love. I think he ended up doing both shows at the same time for a while.
  14. So much for caring about veterans. http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/11/romney-spit-balls-his-way-to-privatizing-veterans-benefits.php?ref=fpb
  15. Thanks for reading! The early 80's were a strange time for the show, especially knowing what was coming up, so you always want to know more.
  16. What did you think of Peggy?
  17. 6 weeks? That's a good chunk of time. I wonder if any of this is online - a fair amount of 1978 GH is.available. Did ABC Daytime or GH have some ties to the people who did the Andy Griffith Show? Both Audrey and Jessie were temp recast with actresses from that and Gomer Pyle.
  18. It does seem very last minute, as they have April suddenly, and very aggressively, planning to sue Logan for custody of Jamey. It doesn't seem in character for her.
  19. If we do get more stimulus we can be sure that far right Congressmen who claimed to oppose it will be there to celebrate. http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/11/gop-rep-frank-guinta-slams-stimulus-cuts-ribbon-for-stimulus-project.php
  20. I thought they had decent chemistry. I didn't let myself invest because I knew he'd go back to Maria. I really wish they hadn't written her out the way they did, just as Carrie Genzel was getting to be a great actress. I think they should have tried them again after Maria died. Instead there was that random thing with Gillian, which either was never supposed to go anywhere, or was stalled out when Broderick left, and finally he had no love interest until Kit. You know I actually liked Kit and Edmund at first... I'd love to know what Broderick's plans were for Gillian. She was a fun little minx early on - I remember that some fans and the soap press didn't care for her, but I thought she was a breath of fresh air. I still liked her even after McTavish came in, up to the point where she had to sleep with David for Ryan's bail money. That story tarnished everyone involved.
  21. I didn't think Finola and John Callahan had a lot of chemistry, and the story was so confusing. I also don't know why they had to have the Marick brothers keep sharing women.

  23. This episode has some short but super fun moments of catty gossip between Susan and Emily. It seems like once the show decided to beef up Susan's role, they took this side of her personality away. It's too bad. The most important part of this episode is that it sort of clears up the frankly bizarre plan Kirk had in some of the strike episodes about getting Spencer to befriend Lily. Apparently this was all some master plan, clearing Dusty and Holden out of town, in order to win Lily for himself?!?!?!?! He then decided against this because he fell in love with Iva. I guess we should be relieved they didn't have him dating Iva but being in love with Lily. I wonder if this story may have been planned as an exit for Lily in case Martha Byrne left (she ultimately decided to renew her contract to run through late summer 1989). There's a decent Lily/Spence scene in here. I wonder if they should have put them together for a while (Lily trying to save a damaged man, and failing) instead of Lily/Caleb, which doesn't work for me. Lucinda deliciously loves the drama over baby Adam, and rages at Kirk about how she has to go ride a horse. I think she is going to really enjoy that horse ride. There are some nice Margo/Craig scenes too. And to top it off, the episode ends with Kirk using an ugly homophobic slur. Once again I'm surprised at what the show got away with.
