Thanks! I didn't like Noah and Julia but it's nice to see more complete episodes. I was wondering if it was ever said why AMC chose to recast Arlene in 1995, instead of bringing back Phyllis Lyons. I'm not complaining, as Olivia Birkelund's Arlene was probably the main reason I was drawn into AMC, and I still love her work watching again years later, but I have wondered about that.

I remember Eddie Drueding, talking about all the overhype for JFP's tenure, saying something like, "Were the last few years really that bad?" And you can see that here. It's really not that bad. I think the show is lacking energy at this time, in part down to so many dynamic actresses leaving and being replaced by much more low-key, and at times downright snoozeworthy, actresses (Jensen Buchanan, Robin Christopher, etc.), but there was a way to revive the show without gutting it.

Did that annoy you when they said Melrose had "a gay"? I think I gasped when I first read that. It's like a parody of a homophobe. I wonder if they should have written Matt out after the first season. I do like the poses - I think my favorite is Doug Savant contorted around the pole.

I never have watched the first season. I always mean to, in part because I liked Vanessa Williams on Soul Food, but I just never get around to it. I always wonder what would have happened if those first episodes had been a huge hit, and how different the show would have been.

I always like those touches, like when some soaps play Christmas carols over the credits.

I hadn't heard of Greg or Megan (she wasn't the Meg Bennett character was she). It's crazy to me they wouldn't at least mention Brick, or have him show up briefly, especially since that would have caused a lot of drama, given that learning the truth about Channing was the beginning of Eden's destruction. I can see Mason and CC taking it out on him, he fights back, etc. At least say he stayed away for that reason.

I am thinking of writing a fic (which I am kind of rusty at) and had a few questions I just wanted clarification on, if anyone can help. What was the name of Channing's boyfriend? Was his background just like, generic lawyer, or something? What was the nature of Jane Wilson's DID? What caused it, how many alters did she have, how they did behave? Did she just have the usual good girl/bad girl split? What were Eden's whereabouts in the first few months after she shot Sophia and left Santa Barbara? Was she supposed to be in a coma or something, or just roaming around as Lisa or Channing? When did they first hear from her again (or hear enough to get divorce papers, anyway)? Was Brick ever mentioned during the time Sophia was shot? What about Ted?

Vicky causing a huge scene, pure pain, that is so true to her character. I love that you brought back Mary, and had her interact with Reginald.
