  3. There's a lot of discussion of this earlier in the thread, and varied opinions. Chris Schemering claimed it was mostly in the mid-70's, as they ran out of stories and the medical soap genre began to falter.
  4. A wonderful treat from saynotoursoap. Happy anniversary to The Doctors! video gone
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yJBsJf67u8 Beautiful performance from Rachel Ames in this episode. I never stop being annoyed at how GH dumped her. So was the dead child Lesley mentioned Laura? Was this after GH's first big purge (leading to the exits of Howie Dawson, Nurse Pinkham, etc.)? Or were they still around? How much longer was Lucille around?
  6. I liked Rose, and I thought the rewrite made sense, compared to many (Iva was likely to be out of it at birth and only remember one child). They just didn't know what stories to tell with her. I would have written more with Iva, recast Josh, had some drama, and then used Rose as more of a recurring character. She shouldn't have been a romantic heroine.
  7. That would have been great. Or working at WSPR, with Nadine. I forgot to mention that I loved all the scenes with Maureen and Ed dealing with Bridget and her boyfriend, and that Dylan/Bridget scene. I think the next episode is when Maureen berated Bridget for letting Elvis into their home - I remember being enthralled by it. There was so much power in Ellen Parker's work. They handled Bridget just about perfectly in her first few years on the show.
  8. Oh wait, it turns out Quinn and Lily weren't related. Lily was the aunt of Quinn's adopted daughter, Thomasina. Henrietta (the beautiful, whispery Michelle Shay) was married to Bob Morgan. Quinn had an affair with him, leading to some conflicts about how he was going away from his roots with a bougeious woman, etc. He died. Henrietta met and married Morgan Freeman's character, and they left town. I think he briefly dated Quinn. I think Quinn and Lily did have some interest in Grant Todd, but not sure if it was serious. Quinn also dated dual roles played by Joe Morton, a doctor and his Vegas-style twin brother.
  9. They were sisters.
  10. I think so, yes. #6 is an awful photo of Faith Ford. Who is #20?
  11. Soapsuds, I think you said you enjoyed Doug Wert, didn't you? The two most recent Y&R episodes passnum1 posted on Youtube have Doug in them.
  12. Look at this stylish shot of someone walking to the Jabot elevator, as Cricket walks out. Just beautiful. The show just looks so cheap now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbjpomNcC_w&feature=channel
  13. She might have been fun as Ivy (although Kim Ulrich was great). She would have been a better Grace than Dana Sparks.
  14. When Passions was doing its early casting, Kimberly Simms auditioned for a role (not sure which one).
  15. I think she did well at playing certain aspects of Lily, it's just that what she played seemed to become increasingly tired as she and the character aged. They should have focused more on her complex relationships with the Snyders, instead of writing most of them out. I don't think she was as good as the years went by at playing Lucinda's daughter - i think Heather and Noelle Beck got that part of the character, even though Martha obviously had a much stronger bond with Liz Hubbard.
  16. Thanks for all the clips. I just can't watch anything about Al's death - not because I loved the character (I didn't) but because it was just way too depressing, and all for no reason.
  17. While watching the August 1991 episode, I was very surprised to see Hawk running Company. I thought he and Sarah had gone to Italy by this time. Had Sarah just gone? I was also reminded, as if I needed a reminder, of how incredibly unpleasant and dour Nick and Mallet were in every scene, and how Harley and Mindy were drained of any life or personality for these brooding pricks. I never liked the decision to make Harley a cop. I never liked her relationship with Mallet. I thought that might change over time but it never does.
  18. I like how Lindsay is slowly being integrated to the show.
  19. What was the conflict with Frankie and Felicia? Love that Iris/Rachel scene.
  20. It was Meg I think. Did you do the Soapclassics survey? They gave a coupon.
  21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apr1rdDUSZo&feature=relmfu
  22. I was so confused with Brenda doing that "bad girl" pose as Jill - I thought Jill wasn't like that in her early years on the show.
  23. I wasn't expecting that with John and Grant!
  24. Those scenes with Vicky and Bridget are so sad.
