  1. As for the other stories: - I liked Anne's homeless story until the annoying fat man came in. After that, NO. - Linda was a bitchy, sneaky, wonderful character who could have driven story for years. To have her snuffed out in such a violent way, for a generic psycho, was a huge mistake. The death scene was way too grisly for Knots Landing. The absolute worst? - Claudia causing her son's death. No way out! The show realized this and had her attempt suicide and then had Karen (not knowing the story) persuade Kate to forgive her mother. Then it was never mentioned again. I never forgot this and I never cared about Claudia or her stories ever again.
  2. I thought the story was preachy, and pointless. There were no real consequences after a few episodes. The story also felt very dated to me, because of the mother. She was written and portrayed as if she was from the hills, giving some type of "you people" lecture to Karen. it was class conflict on a show which didn't need it, and it went nowhere. It felt like a knockoff of the equally bad story in season 2 where the poor girl accused Sid of rape and her mother Conchata Farrell went on those "you people" lecutres. It was so heavy and I thought the material was rushed for one episode.
  3. Forgot to mention Mary Ellen Stuart as Frannie - after I finally got to see a lot of Julianne Moore's work in the role, I thought it might change my high opinion of MES, but it didn't. She was the perfect all-American Hughes daughter, yet added some sensuality and maturity to the role. I'm sorry that memory of her is mostly swallowed up in the confusing Carolyn Crawford mystery.

  6. I didn't care for the episode but I thought Laura's rape should have been more than one story. Many stories that fit one episode - Diana's teacher falling in love with Karen, the ghosts, Abby and the old man, Val's cancer (with Gary's awful overacting), Ginger's abortion, the mother episode, etc.
  7. I would say Ellen Dolan's Margo, before she became so bitter and dead inside and started yelling all the time.
  8. Can you believe this crap? Mitt Romney misquotes a close ally of the US just to bash Obama. How cheap can you get? And how eager can you get to tell everyone that America is in decline? Remember when the right demonized Jimmy Carter for years for saying we were in a "malaise"? Isn't Obama supposed to be the new Jimmy Carter?? http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/07/mitt-romney-vs-australia.php?ref=fpnewsfeed

  11. She played Mandy Winger on Dallas. Especially when Kate and Laura were rivals.
  12. Wasn't the GOP recently applauding the Facebook co-founder who renounced his American citizenship so he wouldn't have to pay taxes? http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/05/conservatives-liken-dem-tax-dodging-bill-to-nazis-soviets.php/
  13. He could do that, but then, he's made such a fuss of the foot-dragging that this will be what people are more likely to remember. Romney always gives the impression that he's making a huge sacrifice running for President and that he's about ten seconds away from "let them eat cake."
  14. Geitner isn't running for President. While Romney saying "gotcha", Sarah Palin style, and the media lapping it up, would not surprise me, I don't think it would do Romney any favors with the public who wouldn't know why it's OK to not release tax returns because someone in Obama's Cabinet didn't.
  15. No one cares about Geitner.
  16. Along with Lauren Koslow, Deborah Shelton and Janice Lynde screen-tested for DAYS' Kate recast. Can you imagine Deborah Shelton as Kate???
  17. Beautiful. I can't believe it's been a year. Reading the Youtube comments is heartbreaking, as someone there lost their son in this massacre.
  18. I think he'd left the business before he came back to Eastenders. I can't remember. He's someone I thought would stay for life, if he had the chance, but clearly not. I guess Patsy Palmer will be happy, as she was not a fan of Bianca/Ricky. Michelle Fowler was such an honest, true character, of the type no soap would bother with now. Today she would be called a harridan, and run down by fans.
  19. Those harmonies make you want to cry. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dK8iomB8hrE
  20. Rena Sofer once said that on Loving she was just "Trucker's sister," but she actually had some fun stuff to do. The original music had to be changed, but it's still fun. I have to laugh at how every fantasy she has involves Todd and Curtis in equal measure, and now complete with thrusting motions. I still wonder if they were going to try a threeway story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUFl5VZAiuU
  21. Kirk was still on the show - maybe they were going to go for a Sam/Kirk/Ellie triangle. You're right about Passante and Goutman, I meant they cast Meg in 2005. I think bringing back Ellie would have made more sense.
  22. Thanks. I knew he was on there, I just didn't know she'd married him. I was reading an SOD from August 1997, and they mentioned recasting Ellie. I wonder why that didn't happen. It would have made more sense to recast her than Meg. Then again, Passante/Goutman probably just pulled a Snyder name out of a hat. I also read that Ellie returned for a few days in 1993, to catch up with Craig, and I guess to divorce Kirk. I had no idea she ever came back after her late 1992 exit.
  23. That sounds chilling. I guess that was Prinz's last story.
  24. Congrats! If you want me to scan the text pages I'll do that too.
  25. Sorry to hear that. Neil is one of those fairly major characters we know little of. Didn't a curtain rod hit him on the head and kill him? He looks like Joe Campanella there.
