Clinton did cave a fair amount in his first term. Or not so much cave as partially cave and partially go along with issues he supported but the base didn't (like NAFTA, which helped to kill the labor force in the US). He caved on all gay rights issues. The one he didn't cave on - gun control - was what cost him the most. Only when his back was against the wall did he start to fight back. He was better at it than Obama, but he also had a better foil, as Newt Gingrich was and is a bad supervillain caricature. Meanwhile, Romney has now teamed up with Pat Robertson for full culture wars. I sometimes forget that Olivia was one of my favorite characters at this time. There was some story in summer 1985 after Shannon came to Oakdale. She'd taken a jewel or something and people were being murdered. I think Kim was involved in a hostage situation.

Ruth Warrick was such an expressive actress. You can see the old school in her. Every picture tells a story. I just love staring at Charles Frank. In the few clips I've seen of him his voice is a little annoying but the man was a stunner.

I thought it was kind of telling that Phillip's name was on the list, but not Beth. I think many fans said goodbye to Beth when Judi Evans left. I wonder if this list made them bring Alan and Rick back or if they were already planning it.
