I think Dukakis was at the 2004 convention. Meanwhile: http://andrewsullivan.thedailybeast.com/2012/08/the-lies-of-paul-ryan.html

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
British soaps are much more lenient in letting people have time off. Eastenders has had a ton of breaks in the last year alone and has more coming up - in the last year or year and a half, and coming up, Max, Tanya, Kat, Phil, Shirley, Dot, Janine, Ian, Ricky (permanent as it turns out), Bianca. I do think there's a certain realism on Eastenders, in some weird way. Not as much as in their best years but after Santer left in 2010 they have gotten a little less sensationalist and had more of a community feel.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Janine is a superbitch, but always with a heart. At least when Santer isn't producing the show. Linda Henry (Shirley) is taking a break. I haven't seen the British soaps as seeming real in a long time, but Eastenders comes the closest. Here is her blood feud with one of Y&RWT's favorites, Laura. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfgKkdeklfA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYQ1w8yT3xs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRKre50Y5sc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uX3n-x5GTv8

You've probably already seen this many times but Eddie Drueding has synopses and some script pieces. He also goes into detail about Rachel's men. http://www.igs.net/~awhp/awhp.html http://www.igs.net/~awhp/rachel.html It's always weird to me to see Strasser as Rachel. I just always picture Wyndham.

I think they broke up when he learned she was passing Jamie off as his when he was Steve's son. Ted was someone she got involved with when she couldn't have Steve, someone who genuinely loved her and made her happy, but she was still hung up on Steve. Then Steve got with her to give their child a name, or whatever. Groom seems to have a lot of personality. I haven't ever cared for most of what I've seen of David Bailey in the role.

These clips show the brilliance of the Rachel/Alice relationship. The show cast against type. Courtney is very cool, very collected, while Strasser is a bundle of energy and vulnerability. On many shows Rachel would have been the ingenue and Alice would have been the bitch. You can also see how difficult it must have been to keep this going once Strasser left.

I miss Ann Richards. There was and still will be a lot of hype for Christie and that speech, but the fact that he got little reaction from the crowd and barely mentioned Romney - along with the rumors that he leaked the "didn't want to be VP" story to spite Romney - doesn't bode well for his ambitions.

They aren't using the actual song but their theme is WE BUILT THIS! WE BUILT THIS! AKA, none of you pesky "others" got your hands on it.

I didn't realize. I know how much the heart of the GOP loves the '80s (welfare queens, yuppies, Reagan, and so much more), but why in the world is THIS their entire convention theme? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxGGckAc1rs

Looks like for once the public is looking at the party platform. The GOP one is very frightening. http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/08/platform-could-be-messaging-minefield-for-gop.php?ref=fpa Meanwhile, here's another one of the by-the-numbers, "We're making progress because everything is so bigoted!" articles about gay conservatives. http://www.advocate.com/politics/election/2012/08/28/gay-conservatives-see-progress-beyond-2012-platform

Neither does Darren. Or Rhys. Or Nancy. For all the endless hype over Marquess, he gutted the hell out of so many characters.

I didn't realize she was still alive. She had a very long career in radio and TV. I'm sorry that to many of us she amounts to a spot on Harding Lemay's enemies list.
