The Politics Thread
Jason Thompson is the son of Tommy Thompson, governor of Wisconsin, worked in the last Bush's Cabinet, ran an embarrassing campaign for President, and is now doing the same for the Senate. And he's another one of those so-called "moderates." Here he is moderately calling his opponent a Jew hater. http://thinkprogress.org/security/2012/10/15/1014381/thompson-baldwin-anti-jewish/?mobile=nc

The AFA is the heart of today's Republican Party. Good for this CNN anchor for having enough but unfortunately Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan likely agree with every word.

I was mostly thinking of the Lorna/Grant story, which seemed like a regression.

They didn't seem to have an idea of where to take Lorna at this time.

I didn't know David Morrissey was on this show now. I loved him on Doctor Who. US TV keeps on taking some of the best British TV actors. I hope they don't stop.

Were they chem testing Jack and Gloria at this time? (even though she'd just been raped) I never knew she lived at the Cortlandts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpdyuQyQ2Rk&feature=channel&list=UL

How long after this were Ceara and Jeremy written out? They seem to just be total talk-tos by this time (I guess Ceara had taken over Donna's role). I guess they didn't have a great idea of how to dress Natalie by this time, since Kate Collins had become a little blowsy. How long did Erica wear that huge red coat? She looks a little like a pumpkin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyJLJnWqsdc

Keeping Up With the Kardashians
I'm making my way through season two and I did a double take when they showed home movies of Bruce in 1995. He still looked good. Yes there was the nose job but otherwise he looked good. Those other facelifts he probably had after this really wrecked his face. Rob and the Cheetah Girl true love forever and how she's just like his father - kind of odd. His hair this season is absolutely terrible. I notice he's not in most of the episodes I've watched so far.

Family Affairs
OK, so they bring in a new character who is married to a mentally ill woman, cheating with an established character, and also having an affair with his sister (also a new character)? What was the rush? The Davenports also seem to be rushed in the stories. Laila went on to be on Primeval, and Sarah Jane Adventures, and had a very unpleasant Strictly Come Dancing experience mostly remembered for her being injured and being in a "race row" with her partner Anton. Did Conor ever have any stories (besides what they mentioned)? Do you have anything about that story where the woman cheated with her gay best friend's boyfriend (who I think was magically revealed to be secretly bi all along, which is such a copout writing choice).

That's sort of what I wish Paulina had been. Outside of the relationship with Jake, the show never had a great plan for Judi's Paulina. She was almost fired in 1996 and most of her stories were about being Joe's wife or being a victim.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I get the impression at times that a lot of the media personalities assume viewers hate Teresa, and then they have to go, "Oops, never mind," and justify or backtrack (Andy Cohen, Anderson Cooper, etc.) Maybe if they had a more balanced story on the show people would agree with them more. Everyone being against her just makes some viewers feel sorry for her.

I don't think Judi's Paulina would have believably been married to a cop either. They just rewrote her character. I wondered more than once if the writers knew just how rich VIcky was. She was hugely wealthy and yet she always lived a very reasonable existence, never going wild or having any worries over being drained dry. That seemed more like Marley.

When I saw this clip for the first time since Soapnet I thought I'd be drawn mostly to the location footage, but instead I just said, "Cali Timmins!" to no one in particular. I'm glad I was not watching AW at the time this era aired, as I would have had a very, very tough time getting past her departure.

I think they would have kept her as a little more of a vulnerable bitch and less of the downtrodden heroine she became when Judi took over. I also think Rachel would have been more protective of her, whereas Judi's Paulina often seemed to have to look after a semi-helpless Rachel. The part I miss most is the Paulina/Iris interaction with Cali in the role. Delicious.
