  1. Which is why we are seeing a big push, even from many "liberals" and, unsurprisingly, some gays who need to prove they aren't like all the others, to shame those who opposed these laws and insist that gays and lesbians should just shop elsewhere and leave Christians alone. It's groundwork to bring these laws back. The business community knew better, and knew what these laws would truly do. It's a shame that loudmouth martyrs like Andrew Sullivan do not.
  2. I've listened to that a few times since you uploaded it. It's just insane. I almost feel like if I ever see the TV version I will be disappointed.
  3. October 1976 Soap Opera Time
  4. I thought we learned more about Daryl...enough to help fill out his character, anyway. I am not a Daryl fan or a shipper of any of his relationships, but I liked the episode. It wasn't one of my favorites, but I liked it. I just hope they aren't going to kill Sasha next week. I have a bad feeling.
  5. I'm thrilled it didn't happen that way. I think she was mostly being a teenage girl, flirting and lashing out - she's never been able to do that up to now. I enjoyed this episode more than i thought I would. It felt more like the real Daryl than I've seen in quite a while, and I was glad to see some development for Beth, while still being true to her character.
  6. Both shows were created by Roy Winsor and sponsored/owned by American Home Products, although Secret Storm was sold to CBS in 1969. I'm not sure if Love of Life ever was.
  7. Kudos to him. That's a great cause.
  8. Renner's OK but his face is a little strange at times - sometimes when I see him I think it's Clinton Kelly. Jamie Rose is still acting? (if she ever started)
  9. Oh that was the last episode? Wow. I had no idea. I didn't even hear a goodbye (was there a goodbye?). I guess it's not a bad way to go out - themes of family, patience, etc.
  10. Love the photo of Danai. If the comics are worse than the dross of Marvel's last few decades then that's pretty bad.
  11. I would reply but I feel like I've derailed this thread entirely...
  12. I don't know if it's true or not but I read somewhere that the only reason they even had her in that one was because they couldn't get SMG so they rewrote it and brought Charisma back instead. I remember all the raves for Joss Whedon saying he's not a feminist, because oh that word and it's meaning and empowering women and this and that, and I kept thinking, "Well, if you were upset a woman took maternity leave and you fired her, then no, you're not a feminist."
  13. Cordelia and Wesley were the only things I regretted not seeing anymore when I gave up that crap in season 3. It's a shame Charisma was treated so poorly by Whedon, but what do you expect.
  14. As Ian Levine is getting a lot of fan attention over a huge Twitter fight he's having with the wife of the guy who found the missing episodes released several months ago, this is an interesting, rational piece on the likelihood of more being found and released. http://www.starburstmagazine.com/features/feature-articles/8067-feature-doctor-who-the-missing-episodes
  15. I already said this privately, but thank you so much for splitting the videos up. Some of this is so powerful, especially Cindy learning she has AIDS. These videos have been so rich and fascinating. It's made me want to write a fic on this era and the more recent years of the show.
  16. These are "outrageous" moments, which I'm glad about as I've seen some of those other clips so many times. Was MTS pregnant during the death fantasy scene? Her hair reminds me a lot of Brad's ex-wife. I guess that was a popular style at the time. I can't remember when the cult story was either. I think it was a year before this? I'd love to see more of that era. It just seems insane and high high high emotion, new groups mixed in with fading glories in the Brooks and Fosters, and then the more somber Abbotts waiting in the wings.
  17. You know that 1990 Nikki stripping scenes is one of the first Y&R scenes I remember watching...I was flabbergasted and fascinated and it got me into watching the show. I don't think I've seen it in almost 25 years. It gets kind of explicit compared to most soap strip scenes. MTS always gave such full out performances, even when it can get cringeworthy (as in the john scene). I think that's one of the reasons the character has lasted so long.
  18. She reminds me of a young Sissy Spacek too. I remember her as Heather too. She was a very believable child actress. Psycho housekeepers are such a staple - this one reminds me a lot of Hester on ATWT in 1979 (in the Willows story - those clips are at Welovesoapsvideo if you ever want to see them) although she's less histrionic than Hester. This woman seems somewhat low-key. Was that Edward story a writers' strike storyline? It just seems so WTF, even if Y&R in the late 70s and early 80s was WTF Central. "Don't make me do it here...in my home...in front of mother...if I take pauses every few words...then I am more frightening..." What the !@#$%^&*] his mother looks kind of like Vanessa Prentiss.
  19. The sound of that Holly/Olivia story kind of put me off too.
  20. That little girl reminds me so much of a young Camryn Grimes (Faren's daughter I mean).
  21. I haven't watched them yet but I'm so glad those were put up. I was a little shocked. I hope that means more may be on the way. Watching some of this Y&R from 1987 and it feels like a different show than what it would be a year or two later. It seems more thoughtful and subtle. Faren is much more old school soap heroine than almost anything else at this point. I can kind of see why she was written out, although I wish they'd kept Andy around. I like seeing Paul's old set, as his later one just looked like a more nattily designed Jabot office. Carol really does sparkle more with Terry Lester. Did Jack know at this point that John wasn't Ashley's bio father?
  22. To answer Max's question - I think Jolly will win. Given Sink's vulnerabilities, I never thought she would win, and I assume that the Democrats had no one else credible near that district. This scares the crap out of me: http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/ukraine-calls-russian-troops-invasion/2014/02/28/e066bfc8-a0be-11e3-878c-65222df220eb_story.html
  23. You have awesome taste. Will Bravo still show Teresa's footage for this coming season even though she pled guilty? How does that work?
