  1. Purdue is so gaga over outsourcing - it's pathetic to see Republican voters who talk about their fighting for the poor forgotten white man, and then vote for someone who takes away most of the jobs of said poor forgotten white men. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/david-perdue-outsourcing-products-dollar-general-pillowtex
  2. I think the idea is that states where Democrats are ahead in early voting, they aren't as far ahead as they were in some previous years. I know that's true in some places, like Iowa, and Nevada, but I think the gap has narrowed the last few days. This stuff works, as Democrats are fatalistic by nature. I saw some people at Daily Kos going on about how Colorado's vote by mail system handed the state to the GOP, and Democrats were the ones who wanted it, and look how they screwed themselves, and wah wah wah.
  3. Joni Ernst proves once again that she is the new Sarah Palin (with worse hair) by feigning outrage of Tom Harkin praising her looks. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/tom-harkin-joni-ernst-taylor-swift And Tom Harkin, between this and sitting on most of his campaign cash, proves he is an idiot who seemingly wants Braley to lose. I think they'll win one of CO/IA and lose the other. I don't see them winning KS or GA though.
  4. Lisa V wearing her hair that way makes her look like Valerie Bertinelli. Odd choice. I guess they wanted coordinating colors but most of them drown each other out.
  5. Talking Dead is lucky to get the ratings they have with some of the guests they choose. Between the Sarah Palin comments and the claim that the lady cop was jealous of Beth because she was hot or all the men wanted her, John Barrowman reminded me again of why I try to avoid seeing him on things as much as possible.
  6. I thought this was a good episode. Much better than I'd expected. And it wasn't just a Bethy Sue episode - it was about her, yes, but also full of psychological horror and exploration, and interesting characters. It was also very well-paced. The casting for all the supporting roles was terrific, especially the "good" doctor whose mask slips at the end. Yet in some ways I still felt for many of these people - the doctor, and sometimes, just a little, for control freak slap-happy Dawn. I also have to praise the woman who played Joan (?), the woman whose arm got sawed off. This episode did a better job of writing for Emily Kinney's range than "Still" did. She wasn't a victim but she also wasn't Superwoman. Kinney had good chemistry with everyone in this. There were some really frightening scenes in this too, like the jump scares in the trash pit when the walkers kept attacking them. I liked the bit where Beth used walker Joan to kill the rapist guard with the putty face. Not only did it unscore that humans are the true threat, it was very smart. And Joan looked so, so happy to tear that !@#$%^&*]'s throat out. I liked Noah a lot. I'm disappointed at already seeing fan hate for him for leaving Beth behind, as if he had any choice in the matter.
  7. Margaret Reed, or someone running a Youtube channel for her, put up 2 hours of summer 1985-February or March 1986 material. Some of it, especially the later stuff, was already online, but much of it wasn't. Interesting to see her earlier, more aloof persona, and her earlier relationship with Brian, when he played games with her and wasn't Dudley Doright. And I never even knew she was briefly trying to be an aerobics instructor. Marland was right about Brian McCall - he doesn't work. Brian Bloom was right about Marland - Dusty was a more interesting, likeable character before his writing kicked in. It's nice to see more of this time period. I loved Shannon so much years ago. I haven't as much in rewatching, but some of these things do remind me of why I cared.
  8. Coakley seems to struggle in connecting to the public. The last time she had some bad gaffes and she ran against a handsome man who was also a media darling. This time she's kept her head down, and Charlie Baker doesn't seem all that terrific or popular (he's a perennial candidate who lost in good GOP years), so I guess it's all on her. To be honest I still won't be surprised if she wins. I think she and Rick Scott will be the surprise wins of the night for governor. Maybe Brownback too, even though that shouldn't be a surprise, as it's Kansas.
  9. I watched a bit of this...John Paul magically decides to snort coke just at the time Ste had switched the resident new sleazy bisexual (as bi male characters on TV must always be sleazy)'s supply with cleaning powder? I guess this gives Kieron Richardson yet another chance to do his favorite "I'm shocked, me" face. Again. I saw someone saying this relationship is an "insult" to Stendan shippers. I guess because John Paul hasn't punched his lights out. Whatever lights are left. Can't they just get rid of this character - hell, both characters - since they clearly have no use or interest for either of them, and both actors forgot to act years ago (if they ever could in the first place)? Just bring in some generic Gay Times models, if C4 can afford them.
  10. Not a bad promo if the show wasn't such trash.
  11. Sonequa Martin-Green talks about Sasha and Tyreese. Between Sonqeua being pregnant, and some of her wording here, I'm so worried Sasha is going to be killed off Ugh. I don't want her to go. In this interview she's asked about people searching for her feet. I think marceline mentioned this happening to so many actresses.
  12. I've read about some of that with Deal - declaring bankruptcy right after being elected seems a little shady to me. I also hope they both get to 50+1. It seemed like the Democratic Party in Georgia was moribund after 2002 wiped them out so seeing them so competitive this year was a nice surprise. Perdue seems like a huge idiot to me, and a blatant business stooge. Between making fun of a primary opponent for not having a college degree, his love of outsourcing, and his attacking his opponent's FATHER for not voting to keep the Panama Canal, it's pathetic that he has a shot. Even more pathetic is that this is actually reasonable compared to many current GOP candidates.
  13. How did it compare to 2010? Or is that the one you mean?
  14. Live with Kelly and Michael had a zombie-themed Halloween special, complete with an attack from zombie Gelman (I have a feeling he'd rather be chomping on Kathie Lee), and cameos from two TWD stars. Norman Reedus is interviewed about the show and various other projects. Flash photography and low-talking alert. Lauren Cohan and a loud annoying man go through the TWD maze. Michael Cudlitz interview. http://fortune.com/2014/10/31/walking-dead-michael-cudlitz/
  15. It might just be a gig, not her views, I don't know. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventures_in_Odyssey
  16. Didn't she do one of those James Dobson radio shows? At least she doesn't seem to be in the Victoria Jackson crazy path. I still can't stomach anything with her now, sadly.
  17. Those were so much fun and so creative. I sometimes wonder why Kimmy Robertson didn't get bigger roles. It's a hoot to see that crazy dancing scene again with Catherine and Leland. It's insane and depressing and hilarious - Twin Peaks at its core.
  18. Did you mean the one where Dean was cured or the one this week with the werewolves? The next episode (two weeks from now) is supposed to be the 200th, although it doesn't look that great to me. I guess we'll see. Dean's such a great character, if they ever explore him.
  19. The movie is supposed to be awful, and Supergirl was never a big draw. I've always liked her (the version up to the Crisis, anyway - I don't read most DC from after the Crisis), but I can't see this show doing well.
  20. Some news on salary negotiations and new contracts for season 7, most likely the final season. Casting spoilers (possible). http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/game-thrones-cast-signs-season-744314
  21. Neither has Rick Hearst.
  22. Imagine Rhoda working at Collinwood. Barnabas would probably inspire endless "I knew this office was full of blood-suckers, but you're taking this too literally" jokes from Barnabas. Barnabas being chased around by a horny Sue Ann... Barnabas making Phyllis his vampire slave, and no one noticing, as she always acted weird anyway.
  23. I didn't get a chance to watch yet - was this for the Paris stuff?
