The second half of season six is good stuff! Caress and Ben came in at just the right time, and The Trial two-parter was great fun. I’m so glad they were able to rebound from all of the boring Moldavia stuff. I know the future looks grim, but I’m happy to just be making it all the way through the series. I started it literally a decade ago.

It’s on my list of things to get to. Saturday afternoon binging, for sure! Swans Crossing is on the Tubi streaming service, assuming it’s the whole run. I feel like that’s more of a weekday afternoon joint.

Game Shows
I strongly dislike the "single-player" elements of the new PYL and CS. It's the game show trend that I've hated for years, and both shows were perfectly fine without it. All-time favorite games are, in no particular order, The Price is Right, The $100,000 Pyramid (all incarnations), Match Game, Supermarket Sweep, Split Second, Card Sharks, Password Plus, and Jeopardy.

Author Judith Krantz has died
I read Scruples many years ago and was obsessed. Any time I put it down, it was a struggle to function in the "real" world because the world JK created was just so lavish and exciting and fun. While my classmates were escaping into the world of Harry Potter and other fantasy characters, I found my escape in the type of extravagance found in Scruples and Hollywood Wives. Greatest thing about JK is that she believed in the value of what she wrote. There used to be an interview on YouTube where she basically shut everything down and cut tf up because the interviewer used "trash" to describe the types of novels Judith wrote. She wasn't 'bout it, baybayyyy.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
I think it's been mentioned here already, but ABC's Grand Hotel, which debuted tonight, features Denyse Tontz (AMC's Miranda) and Bryan Craig (someone on GH, I have no clue) as the daughter and son of a hotelier. It was a pretty light and fun summer soap. I think I'll enjoy it but won't be sad when it no-doubt doesn't make it past the first season.

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
I'm super excited because my DVD set of 70s episodes came in yesterday. This is the only North American Corrie release I've been able to find on Amazon, and I'm so grateful to finally have classic episodes of the show in crystal clear quality. It's crazy how much more intimate and "closer" you feel to the characters and actions when the show is presented as a videotaped drama, as intended, and not with the pseudo-film look that comes with being online.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Oh, how I love seeing Cornelius Smith! I might do the insane and actually watch that movie just because I'll have nothing else to do and I'd like to see CSJ again. This is more of a "Where were they then?" but Y&R and SuBe's Peter Barton can be seen on the Decades channel week nights after "Dark Shadows" reruns in his short-lived early 80s series "The Powers of Matthew Star." Complete with Louis Gossett Jr. as his guide and a hairdo that resembles the head of a penis, he is in his teen heartthrob glory.

What Are You Watching/Binging/Streaming Now?
I'm planning to watch the entire series of "The Hills" on demand in preparation for the continuation series, which I may or may not even watch, but I've been looking for a reason to jump into the original series.

The 1795 storyline started tonight in the Decades reruns, if anyone has the channel and was looking for a good jump-in to watch or rewatch the show in its prime. One episode a night, so it’s going to move nice and slow like it did originally. I’m assuming it’s doing well for the network since they added to their original episode order.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Ellen is the poster child for why SORAS is evil and should've never become a soap opera staple. Patricia Bruder is like three years younger than Kathryn Hays, yet in the late 80s, Ellen was on the verge of becoming a great-grandmother while Kim was raising her newborn/toddler son Chris. It's just stupid and embarrassing and big part of why soaps couldn't just stick with their core families.

I just finished up the Rita storyline and as ridiculous as it was, boy was it fun to watch! Especially in the midst of all of the dullness following the massacre. I truly enjoyed it.

I'm with you 100%. These episodes have shown me a different side of Mark. I'm used to the less troublesome character he was in the early 80s and his return visits in the 2000s, so to see him on drugs and better yet, see Erica being downright responsible towards him is really nice. Josh should've been Mark's son from a drug-fueled banger.

All My Children Tribute Thread
I just finished up watching most of December 1986, and I actually don’t think Antoinette Byron was that bad. Her Skye had the unfortunate job of driving a popular character (Tad) out of town and splitting up a popular couple (Tad & Hillary) in the process. Speaking of popular couples, Cliff and Nina are sickening as hell. I can’t believe they spent so much time and energy on a couple’s second wedding. The only saving grace is that so many of the other, more interesting stories were advanced by the wedding. These episodes have really endeared Erica and Mona’s mother-daughter relationship to me. For better or for worse, Erica never had a bigger fan or supporter than Mona.

Netflix: One Day at a Time
I absolutely believe the broadcast nets are chomping at the bit for ODAAT. It's a great example of what they've been trying to do for years but flopping at: a tradtionally-filmed sitcom that manages to be relevant and critically successful. Getting that with a built-in fanbase is a no-brainer.

Netflix: One Day at a Time
Finished the season yesterday and enjoyed it all the way through, of course. I refuse to accept that it just ends right there. These characters have so much life left in them, and we deserve to watch them! This was a strong season for Schneider and Alex - I came out of it loving both characters so much more than I already had.

Thanks for sharing, Carl. This makes me so angry, oh my God. And you know these guys probably bask in the glow of overwrought reverence.

Surviving R. Kelly
Y'all, he's crazy as fck, and it's getting scary, not just from a child sexual abuse and captivity standpoint. I wouldn't want to even be around him in a public place because he's just a loose cannon. That Gayle King interview was "I Admit: Live." In regards to support, the most I'm seeing is from people who are wondering when "Surviving Harvey Weinstein" and "Surviving Stephen Collins" will come out. Well, first of all, you'll never see those because those men have nowhere near the name value of RK. Second of all, how dare you try to imply that RK is being targeted because he's black by also implying that his black female victims are not important? Third of all, it. does. not. fcking. matter. if these white men are put on blast. Whether they are or not does not erase all of the sht RK has done, and it needs to be addressed and put out there.

Developing: 90210 Reboot with Original Cast!
LP, of course, was the leading man in one of 90210's most iconic scenes. "Because we owe it to you, Bren." I insert that line into everyday conversation regularly.

Netflix: One Day at a Time
I just watched it yesterday evening and agree with you. Gloria and Melissa were great, and Liz Torres was an awesome surprise. It’s a very smart choice to start developing the extended family. Hopefully we see more guest appearances from them. The cousin telling Elena that her entire identity doesn’t have to revolve around being gay was one of those little things that only this show can do. I don’t keep up with awards shows, but they better be winning all the GLAADs.

Developing: 90210 Reboot with Original Cast!
Truly heartbreaking!!! I fell madly in love with 90210 reruns during the summer between high school and college, and even though Brandon was and is bae, Dylan was unmistakably dreamy and magnetic. Luke Perry just knew how to play that role. Jason’s car accident and Shannen’s cancer had me just assuming that LP would pull through this, but it all just happened so quickly.
