  2. Circled back with my contact. There's going to be an announcement sometime this week via press release.
  3. The role of Lucky Spencer on “General Hospital” will temporarily be played by former “Days of our Lives” star Guy Wilson (ex-Will Horton), beginning with the Tuesday, February 18 episode, Soap Opera Network can confirm. Jonathan Jackson, who originated the role in 1993, and has appeared off and on ever since (with two other actors assuming the role in between), returned to the series on a full-time basis in August 2024, signing a multi-year contract with the daytime drama series. http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/media/2025/02/174795_0024-1024x683.jpgGenie Francis, Jonathan Jackson Christine Bartolucci/Disney In the episode airing on Tuesday, Lucky (Wilson) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) are finally introduced to Aiden’s (Colin Cassidy) romantic friend, Tobias, who he had been talking about continuously since coming out to his mom in the December 20, 2023 episode of the series. The actor portraying Tobias was not released at press time, nor was the reason for the temporary switch in actors for Lucky Spencer. Since making his final appearance on “Days of our Lives” in 2015, Wilson has appeared in numerous television shows including “Code Black,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “S.W.A.T.” and the miniseries “Angelyne.” He also had starring roles in such shows as “Bosch: Legacy” and “Youthful Daze.” Look for Wilson to appear in just a handful of episodes as Jackson is already back taping at the series. 4. LMAO! So they scripted their speeches in sync with each coast in case they won? Wow.
  5. If this was a social media platform, I would have hearted your post. Totally see it happening as well. ❤️
  6. Although rumors have swirled for months since her exit from “General Hospital,” where she played Sam McCall on the daytime drama series for 21 years, as of right now, there is no truth to social media rumblings that Kelly Monaco has landed a new soap gig, particularly at “Days of our Lives,” Soap Opera Network has confirmed. According to unsubstantiated reports, Monaco was to start taping at the Peacock series in March but a rep for the show tells us there is no truth to that, stating adamantly, “Not true.” Soap Opera Network first broke the news last August when we reported “General Hospital” had plans to “terminate” Monaco’s character off the show. The following month, Monaco taped her final episodes, with a video of her final day on set going viral in mid-November. In it, the actress could be seen holding back tears as she thanked the show’s cast and crew for the “experience that I’ll take with me for the rest of my life.” Since last appearing in the November 1, 2024 episode of “General Hospital,” which saw her character killed off after being injected with digitalis by Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), kicking off a serial killer storyline on the soap, fans of Monaco had been left wondering what’s next for the former “Dancing with the Stars” Mirror Ball trophy winner with many hoping she’d eventually land at another soap. http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/media/2025/02/174625_0433-1024x683.jpgLaura Wright, Kelly Monaco (“General Hospital”) Christine Bartolucci/Disney Thus far, Monaco has been relatively quiet on social media, last interacting with fans who shared heartening messages to and about her on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) last December. In response to a fan who was thrilled she had received a follow from Kelly’s account, Monaco responded, telling the poster, “Thank you, for all of your support! As always, it doesn’t go unnoticed… Very much appreciated. Happy Holidays to you and yours!” Monaco also hearted a few other posts sent to and about her, one of which was in response to a fan who shared a clip of four female cast members from “The Young and the Restless” performing a “Wicked” TikTok dance challenge, wherein fans of the hit movie, based on the Broadway musical, mimic the iconic moves shown in the film that is set to the song “What Is This Feeling” by Academy Award nominees Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. “I would love to see @kellymonaco1 dancing and having fun with these women. #yr Kelly would bring her talent, loyalty, dedication and all her fans with her! She’d bring so much excitement too! #yr would be so lucky to have her @CBS,” read the initial post on X. It was followed by another poster who said, “Make my wish come true, Santa!!! Please!!” In addition to “Dancing with the Stars” and “General Hospital,” Monaco’s credits include her star-turning role as Livvie Locke on “Port Charles,” where she appeared from 2000-2003, and made a big impression on fans, particularly with her work opposite Michael Easton, who played vampire Caleb Morely on the soap. Easton would later reunite with Monaco on “General Hospital” in 2012 when he took his “One Life to Live” character to Port Charles, the town, before eventually portraying multiple other characters throughout his 12-year-run on the 61-year-old soap – neither of his characters was romantically involved with Easton’s. Nominated for at least two Daytime Emmy Awards throughout her career, the first of which came in 2003 in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role on “Port Charles,” and again in 2006 for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance as Sam on “General Hospital,” Monaco also appeared in episodes of such shows as “Baby Daddy,” “Football Wives,” “Spin City” and “Baywatch,” among others. Watch the #LoathingDance trend featuring “The Young and the Restless” stars Courtney Hope (Sally), Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea), Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe) and Hayley Erin (Claire) below. Watch the song performed by Grande and Erivo in the film below. Note: The post No, Kelly Monaco Has Not Joined ‘Days of our Lives’ appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. Read More
  7. I'm sure there are tons of shots of each actor as that's how photo shoots work, but clearly they felt the original photo used did not best represent Clifton and/or his character considering the coverage this show is going to get in the coming days, weeks, months, etc. A change had to be made now, and they found a much better photo from the bunch they took during the shoot. As for Timon. He's the male lead, IMO. Karla is the female lead. Tell me otherwise, and I'll buy you dinner. That statement in no way should take away from the importance of other cast members, particularly Tamara, Clifton and Daphnee, but the show is built around Dani's storyline at the outset and Bill/Dani's relationship will be a talking point for at least the next couple of week's worth of episodes, if not longer (definitely longer).
  8. Not sure, but I know I wasn't a fan of it. It wasn't the right look for him. The old one is below:
  9. New headshot of Clifton Davis released (old one deleted):
  10. The linked article to Soaps In Depth was published in 2019. If it's from Jason, there's no question it's true. However, a DAYS contract is like candy. You get a piece today, you don't get a piece tomorrow. They even had the nerve to not have Lauren Koslow on contract (even right now), and I believe they added Susan Seaforth Hayes as a contract at some point if I recall Jason's post on his since inaccessible Facebook page.
  11. This was already reported on the main SON news section 2 hours ago:
  12. All from the press junket the soap press attended (about eight of us). Will have some stuff up later today from that joint interview session later as well. Nothing was exclusive to any of us, even though we each had our individual questions -- will point out what I asked when I share my stories later.
  13. In the Zoom, Cady did have bangs when she was speaking to us. I believe the hair color itself was lighter than what was seen in the BTG pic I posted (taped in November 2024), but I can't remember. We weren't given a video recording of the press junket itself for me to reference.
  14. Based on your follow up post on her Instagram posts, this is clearly Atlanta. As a New Yorker, I couldn't even place the area. Plus, being that she's been in New York for a number of years, doing stage work along with All My Children and As The World Turns, her comment on being in a "welcoming city," screams new location (i.e. Atlanta for Beyond the Gates). Right. The cast aren't required to live in Atlanta. That might have been the initial requirement, or an expectation if the show is receiving a tax credit from the state of Georgia, but many people, including Tamara Tunie, do not exclusively live in Atlanta. Many of the well-known veterans continue living and working in New York and Los Angeles. The newer and soon-to-be-well-known cast might be local.
  15. “I think this is common knowledge, but I’m working on DAYS mostly because I’m under contract over there,” Kurth explained during an interview with Daytime After Dark. https://www.soapsindepth.com/posts/abc/wally-kurth-status-general-hospital-days-of-our-lives-172906 He further said: “The wonderful thing is that DAYS and GH coordinated and worked together and said that I can still go do GH,” Kurth confided. “DAYS gets first choice if I have to work. But I can still do GH and Frank is allowing me to go do DAYS and also knows he can use me if he needs me to come on GH."
  16. They announced their separation last year. I opted not to mention in my article as I didn't deem it necessary. That said, we'll soon find out if he's doing Beyond the Gates full-time or recurring, ala Wally Kurth who appears on GH as Ned and Justin on Days of our Lives, the latter of which is on contract. Being that BTG and GH will air against each other in most markets (2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. CT/PT), it'll be unusual to see Jon on both at the same time (should that happen), considering he's been on recurring a GH for a number of years. Besides Wally, the only other actor to appear on another soap at the same time was Eileen Davidson who pulled double duty 10 years ago on DAYS (as Kristen and Susan) and The Young and the Restless (as Ashley).
  17. I had my suspicions. When we saw them as surprise guests during our press junket, I was floored. Now, when I said it would break the soap internet (still quite early), I didn't mean literally, but I know GH fans will be pissed if this means the end of his appearing as Kevin (albeit he barely appears as is). It only shows that GH wasn't using him because clearly he's willing to work.
  18. Note: It's unknown at this time if Lindstrom will continue portraying Kevin Collins on General Hospital, ala Wally Kurth who appears on both GH (as Ned) and Days of our Lives (as Justin), the latter of which as a contract player.
  19. BREAKING: Jon Lindstrom and Cady McClain have joined the cast of "Beyond the Gates," with Lindstrom playing the role of Joey Armstrong and McClain playing Pamela Curtis. #BeyondTheGates #BTG #JonLindstrom #CadyMcClain Full Story: https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2025/02/jon-lindstrom-cady-mcclain-of-beyond-the-gates
  20. Soap veterans Jon Lindstrom (“General Hospital,” “Port Charles”) and Cady McClain (“All My Children,” “Days of our Lives”) have joined the cast of CBS’ “Beyond the Gates,” it was announced on Sunday. The announcement follows a press junket with the soap media in recent weeks. Lindstrom will portray the role of Joey Armstrong, an entrepreneur who runs a casino, while McClain takes on the role of Pamela Curtis, an old friend of Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley). Michele Val Jean Sonja Flemming/CBS Michele Val Jean, the show’s creator, said of casting the duo, “Well, I finally know the meaning of chomping at the bit because I’ve been so excited to share what we’re about to reveal. It’s my honor, my privilege, my joy to introduce our newest cast members, who are not only soap opera icons and brilliant actors, but two of my favorite people on the planet. Say hello to Joey Armstrong [Lindstrom] and Pamela Curtis [McClain], also known as Jon Lindstrom and Cady McClain.” Talking about his new character, Lindstrom shared, “Joey comes from the other side of the tracks. He has fought his way up in many ways and, uh—but he’s never lost his charm. But Joey runs a casino, which if you’ve ever been inside a casino, you know, a casino is kind of like what a bar is to an alcoholic. So, people can get into a lot of trouble around Joey, and Joey doesn’t like trouble. He knows how to end trouble, but he doesn’t like trouble.” http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/media/2025/02/Beyond-The-Gates-Jon-Lindstrom-Sneak-Peek-1024x683.jpgJon Lindstrom Quantrell Colbert/CBS As for McClain, she says,” I’m just so thrilled to be a part of this incredible cast and this amazing show. I think it is so exciting. It’s such a beautiful production and such amazing actors, and I have the great pleasure of getting to work a great deal with Karla, and we have so much fun—probably too much fun.” She added, “We play very dear old friends, and we get up to a bit of trouble, and I think that’s all I’ll say. http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/media/2025/02/Beyond-The-Gates-Cady-McClain-Sneak-Peek-1024x683.jpgCady McClain Quantrell Colbert/CBS Details on when both actors will make their debut on the soap opera were not revealed at press time, however, from photos (shown above) McClain will be on hand to support her friend as the big wedding between Dani’s ex-husband, Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett), and Hayley Lawson, (Marquita Goings), Bill’s former mistress turned fiancée, gets underway. The episode was filmed in early November and is credited as the show’s fifth episode. Meanwhile, Lindstrom appears in a scene that was taped in early December and is credited as the show’s 13th episode. An actress and director, among other creative talents, McClain is the winner of three Daytime Emmy Awards, becoming the first woman ever to have received the prestigious award for portraying three different characters on three different daytime dramas – Dixie Cooney on “All My Children,” Rosanna Cabot on “As The World Turns” and Jennifer Horton on “Days of our Lives.” Lindstrom first joined the cast of “General Hospital” in 1992, playing the nightmarish Ryan Chamberlin. By 1993, he began playing dual roles when the show introduced Ryan’s twin brother, Kevin Collins. With the continued success of “General Hospital,” ABC commissioned a spinoff in hopes it would help correct sagging ratings in the timeslot preceding “All My Children,” which was previously held by the likes of “Loving” and “The City.” In June 1997, the network introduced “Port Charles,” which saw a few of the parent show’s characters segue into the spinoff, including Kevin, and would often allow for crossover appearances. The series was later canceled in 2003, with Lindstrom back at “General Hospital” in a recurring capacity until 2004. After a nearly nine-year absence, Lindstrom once again reprised his role as Kevin on “General Hospital,” appearing on recurring status, with Kevin now married to Laura Collins (Genie Francis). In addition to creating “Beyond the Gates,” Michele Val Jean also serves as the show’s head writer, executive producer and showrunner. She previously served as a scriptwriter at “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “General Hospital,” the latter of which saw her as the show’s co-head writer for a brief period in 2001. She began her soap writing career in 1989 as a scriptwriter for NBC’s “Generations,” the half-hour series that broke ground for its inclusion of an American Black family as part of its core group of characters. “Beyond the Gates” is the first brand new soap opera set to debut on a broadcast network in more than 25 years, since the launch of “Passions” in 1999, and the first-ever one-hour Black-centric daytime drama series. The series premieres Monday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT on CBS, and will be available to stream Live and On Demand on Paramount+*. One week before the show’s premiere, CBS will broadcast a five-part daytime special, titled “Beyond the Gates: Welcome to the Neighborhood,” during the week of February 17-21 which provides viewers with a unique experience into the journey of bringing the new daytime soap opera to life, from its powerful representation of Black culture and history to the 27 meticulously designed sets that create the world of Fairmont Crest, a wealthy gated community with leafy tree-lined streets and luxurious mansions. In the fifth episode of “Beyond the Gates: Welcome to the Neighborhood,” titled “Sneak Peek and Guest Stars,” airing Friday, February 21, viewers will get an exclusive first look at the show’s premiere episode, featuring high-stakes action, deep secrets, and unforgettable drama. The sneak peek sets the stage for a season filled with twists, turns, and lots of surprises. Plus, hear directly from the cast and creators about what’s in store for Fairmont Crest. Later in the episode, the “Entertainment Tonight” Vault will revisit where fans first met the stars of “Beyond the Gates” and where they might have seen them before. The five-part half-hour special is hosted by “Entertainment Tonight” co-host Kevin Frazier and uber soap fan, comedian and television personality Sheryl Underwood (“The Talk”). 22. A long-term carriage agreement has been reached between YouTube TV and Paramount, averting a possible blackout of CBS, Nickelodeon, MTV and nearly two dozen other networks, the companies announced on Saturday. The multi-year deal will see YouTube TV expanding its streaming options with the inclusion of Paramount+ with SHOWTIME and BET+ available to qualifying customers. “We’re happy to share that we’ve reached a deal to continue carrying Paramount content on YouTube TV. That means you still have access to channels like CBS, CBS Sports, and Nickelodeon. Add-ons like Paramount+ with SHOWTIME and BET+ also remain uninterrupted,” the Google-owned OTT (over-the-top) television streaming service said in a statement. “With this agreement, YouTube TV will continue to offer 100+ channels, while enabling more user choice in the future. Thank you again for your patience, and as always, we appreciate your membership. “We are pleased to announce a renewed Paramount-Google agreement for the continued carriage of Paramount’s leading portfolio of entertainment, news and sports networks across YouTube TV’s platform,” said Paramount in its statement. “The multi-year deal also features an expanded streaming relationship, with the ongoing inclusion of Paramount+ with SHOWTIME and BET+ among other YouTube Primetime Channels and providing Google the right to make Paramount+ available to qualifying YouTube TV customers.” “We look forward to extending our long-standing partnership and giving audiences greater access to their favorite programming,” Paramount’s statement concluded. Days before signing a new deal, YouTube TV announced that it had reached a “short term extension” with Paramount that kept the channels from going dark on its service on Friday. In February 2024, it was revealed that the service had emerged as the fourth-largest TV provider in the U.S. with eight million subscribers. http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/media/2025/02/CBS-Beyond-Gates-Bold-Beautiful-Young-Restless-1024x576.jpg“Beyond the Gates,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “The Young and the Restless” CBS The deal comes as CBS prepares to launch the brand new daytime drama series “Beyond the Gates,” and the continued success of its other soap operas, including “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless.” Next month, CBS will broadcast several high-profile events, including “The Masters” and March Madness games, and follows the network’s successful airing of the Grammys, the Golden Globes and several highly rated NFL playoff games, with the latter two becoming one of the top five most-watched programs of the 2024-2025 broadcast television season. 24. The writing team of “The Young and the Restless” took home the 2025 Writers Guild Award for Daytime Drama during Saturday night’s Writers Guild Awards ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles and the Edison Ballroom in New York City with actress Justine Lupe (“Nobody Wants This,” “Succession”) presenting. The Writers Guild Awards is an annual awards show recognizing achievements in screenwriting, television, streaming, news, radio/audio, and promotional writing during the previous calendar year (2024). Writers Guild Writers Dave Ryan and Madeleine Phillips accepted the award in person at the Los Angeles ceremony on behalf of the show’s writing team, led by head writer Amanda L. Beall and writers Susan Banks, Jeff Beldner, Marin Gazzaniga, Lindsay Harrison, Marla Kanelos, Rebecca McCarty, Phillips and Ryan. In a speech, Ryan said, “We’re thrilled to accept this award on behalf of our writing team at ‘The Young and the Restless.’” He added, “Thank you to the guild for this honor. Also, we want to thank our team at CBS, Sony, the Bells and the amazing cast and crew led by our showrunner, Josh Griffith*, who bring 255 episodes to life each year.” http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/media/2025/02/Madeleine-Phillips-Dave-Ryan-WGA-Awards-1024x576.jpgMadeleine Phillips, Dave Ryan YouTube Added Phillips: “And, we want to say to our colleagues at ‘Beyond the Gates,’ which is a new soap opera starting in a couple of weeks, we welcome you to daytime. We’re so happy you’re here and we look forward to seeing you here next year. Thank you, so, so much.” Highlighted clips from submitted episodes preceding the win included scenes of Sharon (Sharon Case) confronting Cameron (Linden Ashby) while Nicholas (Joshua Morrow) tried to calm her, and a May 2024 episode in which Jack (Peter Bergman) doing everything he can, including taking pills to get a distraught Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) the help she needs. The last time “The Young and the Restless” took home the coveted award was in 2020, representing the calendar year 2019. This win also marks the sixth time since the category’s creation in 1973 (representing content written in 1972) that the daytime drama series has taken home the award. “The Young and the Restless” beat out “Days of our Lives” and “General Hospital,” the other two nominees in the category. “Days of our Lives” took home the award for the last four consecutive years, while “The Bold and the Beautiful” did not submit itself for contention. Note*: Due to his going fi-core status during the 2007/2008 writers’ strike, Josh Griffith, the show’s head writer and executive producer, is ineligible for a WGA nomination (see story).
